Just replaced my daughter’s actuator and couldn’t have done it without this video. Thanks! Saved her a lot of plata. I’m a little worried about the $25 after marker actuator I got from Amazon. Big difference from the $350 you referenced.
Thanks guys. I was able to repair my actuator this way! One thing i’d add is to make sure to check that the rod from the mechanical key insert lock is properly situated with the actuator. There is the long rod from the door handle. And a cross-shaped short rod from the mechanical key insert that needs goes into the cross shaped insert on the top left part of the actuator. If they are not aligned/sitting properly, then your mechanical key will not work and you will be screwed if the electronic locks fail again. Easier to remove the key lock insert before working on the actuator for proper fitting
Can verify. No car repair experience and followed these directions to complete the job in about 2 hours including time I rewatched a few parts. The metal rod was a bit tricky as you had to pull a metal slide down in order for the door rod to slide into place and they didn’t really explain it well. I played around with the new part to see how it worked and saw how it slid down some and that helped me get the metal rod out and back in later. Was quoted 560 parts and 1 hr labor totaling about 750 out the door. Bought this part on Amazon for about $50 total plus a little time. Thanks for the video and making this seem less intimidating.
You guys! This is one of the most well-explained tutorials I’ve ever seen. I just got a quote from Toyota to fix this for $600. I was like, “Nah, I’ll find a good RUclips video to do this myself.” I’m about to order the part because I’m confident I can do this after watching this video. Thank you guys so much!!
I am impressed and thankful. Excellent level of explanation and supporting camera angles throughout. Major bonus points for when it didn't go exactly as planned and you showed your workaround. Also once you had it hooked up, testing it prior to mounting. The only disappointment is I can't click like more than once. 👍👍
Great video out of all of the others in my search. Changed out my driver and pax door locks on my 2013 RAV4. I estimate I saved about $800. Thanks again!
Great video...I have a 2017 Tundra but aside from a couple of panel differences, the actual removal of the actuator is exactly the same...your explanation was much better than 90% of the other vids on youtube...and there is a cool drinking game in your vid. Every time he says "bad boy"...take a shot...you'll be so drunk by the end you won't care if the actuator works or not!! lol Thanks again!!
Good video. One last step that is missing is connecting the manual key rod to the actuator. You will not be able to unlock your car with the key if this is not done.
The reason why you had trouble disconnecting the wires from the window button section is the place you were pushing wasn’t the release. If you look on the side of the connector you’ll see a tab with two indented lines that you need to push
Hey y'all, this looks like a great easy-to-follow tutorial. You said at the end that it cost you about $57. All of the Rav4 door actuators I have looked at are about $300. Do you have any recommendations on where to find a well-priced Rav 4 door actuator?
Wifes 2018 rav 4 passenger doesnt lock with the fob key.....im thimking this is whats broken and setting the alarm if ya open the door..horn n lights go off
Our 2017 Rav4 driver's door will no longer work with the key fob (likely will have to do this repair in the video) and I had just had to replace the blower motor recently. New Toyota's are junk.
There might be a few things you can do. 1. Try making sure the connection to the actuator is solid 2. Make sure the metal wires (rods) are connected to the actuator correctly 3. If none of the doors are unlocking, then the remote may be out of battery 4. The unit itself may be a defect. Try getting a repacement. Let us know if that works.

Super helpful video guys. Definitely, appreciate it. I will be using it as a step by step when I work on my Rav4. Again Thanks.
Thank you guys for this video. It's great!!
I believe that what you referred to as a support is actually the guide for the window.
Good video. One last step that is missing is connecting the manual key rod to the actuator. You will not be able to unlock your car with the key if this is not done.
Well done 🙏🙏🙏
thank YOU
Great Video and Fun as well....no way paying $699.00 Thank you so much !!!!

10/10 video

the 3 bolts that hold the actuator to the door frame require a Torx T-30 tool, not a hex tool.

Go to carparts.com or rockauto! They will be aftermarket and not OEM
@@vnmechanicsandhomeimprovem3988 Just want to follow up, I followed this video and my door is fixed! This is a great video and I appreciate your help!
How did you find the acutator for only $57? At my autopart store it goes for $200+ lol😂
Wifes 2018 rav 4 passenger doesnt lock with the fob key.....im thimking this is whats broken and setting the alarm if ya open the door..horn n lights go off
Update...yota dealership replace the actuator under warranty 😊
what about rav4 hybrid 2021? same way to open door panel?
It should be almost the same. However, there may be a few extra trim pieces on there
Uuuh what size hex
It's a Torx 30 bit for the 3 hex screws that hold the actuator in the door.
