    Wow, things definitely seem a bit more affordable in SA. I can't believe that you can find a seaview rental for $800-$900 a month. That would be lovely. Also, it was very interesting to hear about national deductions for healthcare. So much new information. Thanks for sharing!

      Thanks for watching guys.
      American and European tourists definitely have a great time in SA, as those currencies goes so far here 😅

    Comparing to $ or Big Macs only makes sense if you also normalise pay.
    Take someone like a nurse. They earn about R300k a year (around 6,400 Big Macs a year).
    In Australia the same nurse would earn about $A80k a year (around 12,500 Big Macs a year).
    In USA, around $US83k a year (around 15,500 Big Macs a year).

    Coffee in Aus is $4.50 , Beer about $7 , Rental for 2 bed on average $650 per a week Fuel $1.70 per litre .NZ is slightly more expensive than Aus., Big Mac is about $11 . Eating out is a lot more expensive than SA.

    Wow! KZN is even more appealing seeing the cost of things. Travelling through South America the prices feel a lot higher here than South Africa. I would drink so much coffee at that price though! 😂 even fuel prices look good.

    • @BeingBedingfield
      @BeingBedingfield  2 года назад +1

      Haha, no way!! I always thought South America would be cheaper than here 😅
      We know it’s all relative to salary, but our whole country is up in arms about our high fuel prices lately…so can’t believe it’s even more expensive in other countries 😳 Apparently it’s a lot cheaper in our neighbouring countries though 😉

    So interesting to see the costs of things! Canada seems to have much higher prices... especially for gas and rents for apartments. And our internet and phone plans are so expensive! Even our eggs are over $3.00 for a 12pk. Definitely very informative... even our Big Mac meals are so much more expensive... and that's factoring in our Canadian/US exchange. Maybe we need to move! Haha.

    • @BeingBedingfield
      @BeingBedingfield  2 года назад +1

      Comparing prices in different countries is always so interesting to us. We tend to feel like things are expensive here, but when we hear about prices in other countries, we appreciate things here a little bit more 😅

    • @cccmmm1234
      @cccmmm1234 2 года назад

      If you live in a country then it makes more sense to compare prices to your salary/wages. Directly comparing prices makes no sense.
      ie. what really matters is how many Big Macs (or whatever) you can buy with your salary.
      South African salaries are extremely low.

    • @BeingBedingfield
      @BeingBedingfield  2 года назад

      @@cccmmm1234 yes, costs are relative to salary, which we tried to do without sharing our actual salaries 👍 however, a lot of tourists from abroad watch our videos, in fact, a couple from the Netherlands that’s been watching our videos are in SA right now, so these prices give them a good idea of how far their €$£ will stretch. And they definitely compare prices directly.

    Great Video, you two. No, I would not say spoilt, convenient yes, the people serving you are rendering a service which they are getting paid for, and which you have just paid. You deserve that right. I left South Africa for Asia in 2004, when 1Kg, of chicken, was R26.40. Where I am now I buy 1Kg for R12.69/Kg. in Asia. South Africa still stays my home, used to own a beautiful home in Ballito Bay, KZN. Still have family in Umhlanga Rocks, KZN.

      @@BeingBedingfield Hello you guys. I am living in the Land of Smiles, Thailand. Esan district of KHON KAEN. I have been here for twelve years, a beautiful country with lovely people, unfortunately, the old bad one has now started to take its toll, CRIME. Before you could leave your house open, and nothing would happen, but today it is changing. I miss home and all the friends and commodities like braai, Bols Brandy, and many other things. Just remember. that when you move to NZ, your heart will stay in SA, believe me. All goes well with you two over there and keep those videos coming. Thanks again for the response, well appreciated.

    • @BeingBedingfield
      @BeingBedingfield  2 года назад

      We haven’t experienced any water cuts this year, and our electricity is included in our rent, so we don’t know what the impact on cost is with all the power cuts, but from what we’ve heard, people’s water & elec bills are still the same, even when there are cuts 🤷🏻‍♀️
