Lol, we’ll look at the rules…. No big blocks or V10/12 etc. props to all these guys especially spending the money and to not be as fast as an auto I guess for a niche class. It’s is amazing how much they improved but they removed weight requirements and I think turbo restrictions, just a tire rule and power plant limitations.

Back when it was side stepping the clutch and praying it stays straight for the 2nd gear jam and carry the wheels some more. I really enjoyed the streetable low 8 and high 7sec turboed vipers banging gears in the early 2000s from heffner though, they looked like a wild ride.
That rear end has more swag than my whole car. That coyote is a animal and dude has ice water in his veins, that is a combination for record breaking runs. Congratulations y'all it's going to be hard for anyone to beat that.

Only other engine competing with this is a Billet 2jz(aftermarket block) 1320 fanboys like talking smack about Ford because it’s a GM nut hugging channel. No LS or LT is getting close to that on a stock block!

The details on this thing are amazing. Those pedals, the shifter, the rear suspension, the engine bay… It looks more like a sema build than a 6 second car. Beautiful.
@@magikarpcars9248 No S197 had "headlights" in the grille, but all GTs (unless optioned with a different grille from the standard-equipment one) from 2005-2014 had fog lights in the grille, and the Boss 302 (which this started life as) didn't have the bulb assemblies but had fog light blanking plates.

I've always said that I'm a car guy first, a Ford guy second, and an everything else guy third, and I've ALWAYS loved stick shift racing(even before it was cool lol)... gotta be honest, it's always been just a lil bit of a let down that, after the record got pushed beyond 7.50s or so, there hasn't been a competitive Ford(still hoping to see the Minion guys get back up there with the comp) going for the H-pattern record. Then Joel jumps into the race out of nowhere and starts absolutely laying it TF down, makes me happy inside seeing this thing run! BTW, how sick is it that the H-pattern record is being pushed by cars with INTERESTING COMBOS too! Minion with the good ol 4.6 Mod, Grub Worm with an OG OG LT1, Grannis with a 2JZ, Steele with a STOCK GEN 1 BLOCK Coyote(NO ONE is doing this stuff with stock Coyote blocks, just unbelievable) - and of course you can't talk about H-pattern racing without mentioning the original slayer, Red Demon AWD DSM! I don't hate LS engines or billet small/big blocks... but DAMN is it refreshing to see everything BUT those cookie cutter combos! EASILY the most interesting drag racing happening right now!
Id say its his rear setup thats been the most beneficial part. With out it being setup to his liking he wouldnt be as comfortable. Theres many engine options he could have chose to reach that time but as a always say about stick shift record holders its more driver and being comfortable to consistent.

No turbo limits, Weight has no minimum now, so no penalties for aftermarket block, head etc… LS and Mod/Coyote were severely penalized period, LS7 stuff even more so. Basically just a tire rule. Right now though you just seeing this opened up with what was already around. When/if guys stay nothing says they cant run a real race platform be it sbc/sbf/sbm etc. You still can’t run a Big Block anything though, or a V10/12 so that means no Vipers. That’s lame as that’s one of the cars that only ever had a manual and that engine is basically a sbm with 2 extra cyls…

Theres tons of stick cars that have more power that run wayyyy slower. It not because its a ford, or supra, or 2jz, or lt1, so on and so on. Its tge right combo build for the drive to feel comfortable allowing them to be as consistent as possible because the set up is consistent. Put a different driver in that car it wont turn that time. Is the car a masterpiece yes but with out that driver its just another high horse stick drag car.

@@jotuned_ There's an electrical cutout in the shifter knob they can tune to cut ignition for so many fractions of a second between shifts(Cleet just got one for Leroy I didn't know they existed till last week). Still need the clutch to launch though.
Its more driver in breaking stick shift records than the car. Its hard to be consistent in one and to back up the times is an amazing feat of a driver.

The former record holder made 2100hp and was put down 7.1 in the opposite lane. Anyone with money can get a car capable of that time area buts its having a driver whos capable and knows how to communicate or set the car up to feel comfortable. Too slow of a shift can mean 2/10 of a second without knowing it. Same driver in another car of the same caliber they could be capable if the were comfortable after plenty of seat time with test n tune. Like i said it becomes more of the driver at that the point they are.
Shifting gears and pumping a clutch at that rate is mental gymnastics! Never seen such an engineered rear axle differential! That all is like sending man to the moon on a flat surface 1/4 mile away.
The term “stick shift” is a little less impressive to me nowadays that they’re tuned for flat-shifting/no-lift shifting. The hard part (and part that gave you the most time hit) was having the engage the clutch multiple times during the pass. No clutch and throttle pinned is more like a DCT or auto in manual shifting mode than it is to a traditional stick shift car. That said, the car is badass regardless of what transmissions it’s using.
You still need to manually move the shifter through the gates. One could argue that you're view of h pattern is invalid because they use syncro's or dogs instead of crash boxes.

Well he said he is officially moving the transmisson forward so that should solve alot of his reliabilty problems. Plus he GRENADED the engine and it has to get rebuilt so likely more power coming as well
Shifts look effortless , no clutch used , pretty wild transmissions available these days . Seems like a manually shifted Lenco should be allowed in that class too .
@@coltoncarpenter3790 back in the old days they cut most of the syncro numbs off and called them crash boxes , but they had external shift linkage rods with a lot of movement on the shifter . This modern stuff looks so much easier to shuift , minimal travel . The Dog cut gears have been around a long time but these are surely high dollar , high tech transmissions

The term “stick shift” is a little less impressive to me nowadays that they’re tuned for flat-shifting/no-lift shifting. The hard part (and part that gave you the most time hit) was having the engage the clutch multiple times during the pass. No clutch and throttle pinned is more like a DCT or auto in manual shifting mode than it is to a traditional stick shift car. That said, the car is badass regardless of what transmissions it’s using.
You still need to manually move the shifter through the gates. One could argue that you're view of h pattern is invalid because they use syncro's or dogs instead of crash boxes.

Well he said he is officially moving the transmisson forward so that should solve alot of his reliabilty problems. Plus he GRENADED the engine and it has to get rebuilt so likely more power coming as well

Dog cut gears have been around in the racing world forever. Astons, jags, and old muncie 4 speeds used em in vettes, camaros, and so on.
@@coltoncarpenter3790 back in the old days they cut most of the syncro numbs off and called them crash boxes , but they had external shift linkage rods with a lot of movement on the shifter . This modern stuff looks so much easier to shuift , minimal travel . The Dog cut gears have been around a long time but these are surely high dollar , high tech transmissions
