Yes Sir I was there in the late 1977-85 The Phebes Night Club 240a Amhurst Rd Stoke Newington / Club Noreik Tottenham
/ Acton Town hall / And many other clubs in The Ladbroke grove Area ( Aklam Hall ) And I clearly remember
The Historic DUBPLATE Battles JAH SHAKA had with Fatman hifi & SIR COXONE When he still had Festus & Blacka Dread at the controls
That was the greatest Sound system era ever !!!! p.s. how come David Rodigan can gets an MBE Award for Contributions to the
Music industry and JAH SHAKA & COXONE get nothing ??? ( BBC FIX )

Does anyone have a recording of the 'crusty' session in Mandela Hall at Sussex university, probably around 1989? Student union were on strike, I think Shaka was running his set from a generator. No lights in the dance except the one bulb above his turntable. Shaka was on form that night. The reason it was called the crusty dance was because there was a new age travellers site on the campus, and loads of them turned up. What a vibe!!!
