      @tidefanman1 6 лет назад +8

      Of course not!! I just said, this is the kind of stuff that keeps teams like the Lions, in the basement. You didn't have to be a HOF NFL front office guy to see this guy wasn't ready. Until they have a guy running that team, its just gonna be groundhogs day yr after yr. Wanna see how to change the direction of a team? Look at the Jags! Get somebody in there that knows HOW to change a culture! Matt seems like a good guy, but in the NFL that's not enough.

    • @tidefanman1
      @tidefanman1 6 лет назад +5

      @Roni , yeah coaches from that NE tree haven't been good in recent history. To see why that's been the case is easy, they can't take Tom Brady. Gezz

      Skip and Shannon: UNDISPUTED ... I seldom agree with Skip, but he’s right about Patricia. He’s no ready. He’s bout as pointless as Tomsula was in San Fran. Nobody knows where he came from or where he is now. These type coaches need a D3 to D2 level college before even getting a D1-AA, let alone, a D1-A or NFL gig. I’m all about experience. But what most coaches coming in don’t understand is that the last place you would want to be an assistant at is with the Pats under Bill. The same reason I respect him as a coach is the same reason I dislike his coaching style. He’s runs everything so if he fail, it was his vision done his way...👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. But that also stifles the rest of the coaching staff. They have to learn from afar. That’s not a place to be if you’re trying to be on that level someday. Maybe later on in your career after you’ve operated a few lower level locker rooms or so, but not right of. I’m thrilled to see the ride and how long this charade goes on in Detroit.

      Dude, isn't there a point where you have to admit that a coach isn't championship caliber? Lewis is in his 16th season as the Bengals head coach, and his team has never appeared in a divisional round playoff game. His 7 playoff losses include 4 home losses and 5 double-digit losses. One of the two games that was close was one of the most dreadful choke jobs you will ever witness, the 2015 loss to the Steelers.
      To put it in perspective, after Lewis, the head coach with the most playoffs losses with a single team without a win is Jim Mora, who was 0-4 with the Saints and coached 10 full seasons with them before he resigned. (Yes, he actually swallowed his pride and did what Lewis should've done a while back.)
      The Bengals are 100% averse to playoff success, and they will remain that way as long as Lewis is the head coach. The Bengals are stuck in NFL limbo. When they are good, they are the best of the worst teams and the worst of the best teams. Hiring a new coach every two years is not the key to success, but neither is keeping a coach for 16 years who demonstrated a long time ago he can't get it done.

  • @saud29
    @saud29 4 года назад +8

    Some folks think its a race issue. Lets see, Jim Schwartz got 5 years to clean up the Rod Marinelli mess. Discount the 2009 2-14 trash fire after Marinelli's 2008 0-16 season. Schwartz went 27-37 with one playoff appearance and 1 winning season in the remaining 4 years. Jim Caldwell went 36-28 in 4 seasons, with 2 playoff appearances, and was one win away from beating out Atlanta for the last playoff spot in 2017. He had three winning seasons out of his four years, and the first time the Lions recorded consecutive winning seasons in 22 years!
    So why fire Caldwell? And hire the unproven white coach whose only claim to fame is that he works for someone smarter than him? And has a pencil over his ear? Management didn't see enough to continue building on Caldwell's efforts? Caldwell won more games than the last three Lion coaches COMBINED (Marinelli (12) , Mariucci (15) and Mornhinweg (5) , and more games than Bobby Ross (27). In fact, Jim Caldwell won more games than any coach not named Wayne Fontes in the previous 28 years!!! And management still needed "to move in another direction?"
    So why fire Caldwell, and hire the unproven white coach? What was Patricia brining to the table? He wasn't Sean McVay or Andy Reid , or even Mike Zimmer! He didn't have a "Doomsday Defense", or a "Steel Curtain", or any innovative defensive scheme. He was an D-line coach from a winning team with no HC experience. I know what you're thinking. "A NFL team wouldn't get rid of a winning black coach just to claim success with a white one!" Well, 1) google Dungy, Tony; and 2) its the mother f@@ Detroit Lions.
    I rest my case.

    • @Loganbub
      @Loganbub 3 года назад

      Caldwell had to go. Same issues over and over and over again for 4 years, the mistake was our Gm and Patricia were straight clowns. Firing Caldwell was the right move the team wasn’t going anywhere significant with him. never beat good teams, always fall behind then make 2nd half comebacks (vs bad/average teams only).
      Stop with the race BS, Caldwell was solid but very flawed, the mistake was hiring the embarrassment that was Patricia.

      @rswy8059 6 лет назад +3

      And we know why. Those great coaches set up their disciples for success. But look at what we learned with the Josh McDaniel Colts unhiring. Belicheck had to lure McDaniels back with language in the contract stating that Bill will include Josh in the day-to-day preparations and operations from a head coach perspective. When I heard that, I was thinking "shouldn't the head coach be already doing that with his staff?"
      The Patriots atmosphere is so guarded, so isolated, dare I say so paranoid, that Bill doesn't want any other person besides him to grasp the full picture. That's not a recipe for success when those guys head out on their own. You can see the pride in Andy Reid when his guys head coach other teams and do well. Not so much Bill Belicheck. In fact Bill is so competitive his lack of generosity in sharing knowledge is probably by design. He doesn't want those guys coming back to beat him. He might have taught everything that they know, but he won't ever teach them everything he knows.
