Through the cloud of weird chronic illness I’ve had in my 20’s you are one of the rare few doctors I could trust and who didn’t gaslight me. I think often of my complicated delivery and how smoothly it went because of not only your skill but your spirit. I wish you nothing but peace and restoration to your mind, as you have given me hope in very hard times. I’ve gotta tell you Randy, and I hope you know this but a Big part of getting thru this ongoing pandemic has been the connections I’ve made with so many RUclips creators that I now truly consider friends and I have really missed seeing you and the family on a regular basis. I totally hear you about the time and effort it takes to put together what we hope to be a quality video, I’ll admit I have come close to burning myself out many times but am still enjoying the process and the challenge of putting together a depiction of my day outdoors at least once a week. It also helps motivate me to actually get out there and do what I love when I might rather stay at home. Lugging a camera around can be a pain and take away some of the spontaneity of the day so sometimes it’s good to just let the cameras roll but then that adds to the editing hassle, so it’s a chore for sure. On the Job side , I totally get it , I was with my Doctor last week , who is about my age and who I have been going to for the last 30+ years and much to my dismay he advised me that he would be retiring in July, a month after I retire. It was certainly not a surprise but a disappointment. We talk very openly and he too said the Pandemic has taken too much out of him to want to keep going as long as he had hoped and I can certainly understand. On the good side we did talk about fishing together sometime when we’re both done working. I have no idea why you can’t seem to get monetized , I can’t think of a single realistic reason why not but then again this platform is run by some pretty odd folks (as is just about every other social media outlet) . They don’t like what you have to say… cancel you out. A sad commentary on our society these days. Sorry to have kept my comment so brief but hope to see you and the family here again soon. 🍻
Don, you know I love your brief comments! Thank you for not only this, but all the others, and the support. Although the pandemic has been physically and emotionally draining, I am in better shape because I've had connections like the one we have. That is a shame about your doctor. I can tell you in our own small hospital department, we have lost a doctor to early retirement, we had another move to another hospital, we had another leave medicine all together, and in my very practice one has quit doing OB and another has gone to part time, all due to stresses over the pandemic. I truly worry about anyone needing medical care for the time being because the system is so stressed and understaffed, patients are at risk of inadequate medical care every time they walk into a doctor's office or a hospital. If I were able, I would be doing the same thing as your own doctor. More time to fish and get better at it!

The monetization issue is very much secondary when it comes to everything else I mentioned, but it's just frustrating to set your sights on a goal, work hard toward achieving that goal, and then have it yanked away without any explanation. That goes against what I teach my kids, and also against what I think are important values we have as a country. Rant over, thanks again!

Tony is the lead vocalist and my Dad is the guitar player. We have some outreach concerts coming up. Thanks for the update Randy. I've been wondering why I haven't seen you in a while. Even though I'm in different industry, I've been feeling the same way. I'm not sure how much longer I can fly airplanes. The Rules and procedures book gets thicker every year. I love making videos and fishing. Maybe one of these days we can both do that for a living. I would agree that the Covid videos are causing you issues, even though they are some of the best out there. I'm here to help support your channel in any way I can. I wish you luck!
Thanks Rande, I appreciate that very much. Not in a good way, but it is interesting to hear how things are going in another industry. I'm sure you talk amongst yourselves as pilots just as we do as physicians and what is most shocking to me is how all of us feel the same way. The burnout, stress, and frustration are universal and that extends to others in healthcare way beyond physicians. I'm sure the same can be said in the airline industry too. People rely on both industries a great deal so it will be interesting to see how things play out. Especially since I can't even monetize, I am nowhere close to being able to do anything related to videos or fishing for a living so I'm just going to continue and run on those grinding gears as long as I can.

I only wish America would see your take on the health care crisis we are facing. My sister is an RN and she has left the profession and the money that goes with it and she is most certainly not the only one. Hope to see you fishing OBX again!

I have seen an alarming number of nurses leave medicine in the last 6-12 months. Even if they can be physically replaced, you can't replace their experience and wisdom and it makes things unsafe for everyone.

I've got to work up the momentum to get back into editing, but I do have a bunch of Outer Banks videos I just shot that will hopefully make their way onto the channel. And you are correct about the catch and cooks, it hardly seems fair to creators that there tends to be this moving target about what content is and isn't okay to make. Oh well. Definitely have thought about that, but I don’t know how to move the videos without deleting and then reposting. And if I don’t ever post another Covid video again, that will be too soon, lol. A lot of them were time-sensitive regarding what was going on, anyway, and wouldn’t make sense to post now, and I just don’t have it in my heart to permanently delete since I spent so much time on them. Maybe start a home brewing channel…💁♂️🍻

I can't even imagine trying to run a RUclips channel and being a healthcare professional at the same time, I can totally see why you got drained out. Were you able to get your YT monetization issues resolved? That's so weird that your account isn't letting you through for no apparent reason, downright outrageous honestly. I highly recommend you try to do more shelling videos if you can, since they seem to crack a lot of views for some reason. Especially so if you put enough tags in your videos like "shelling", "beachcombing" or "north carolina shelling" etc. Hope all is well! :)

I'm sorry I haven't responded until now, but I recognized the name of your channel from your awesome shark ID comment you made on our most recent video! All I can say is it's totally demoralizing to put in all the work to get the metrics to have a monetized channel, only to be told there is some issue with getting approved for monetization, and not be given the specific issue or the remedy. Thanks for your support, encouragement, and ideas!
Delete the Covid videos and re-apply I bet you get it then I mentioned Covid in one of my outros and that video was demonetized before it was even released

I can't even imagine trying to run a RUclips channel and being a healthcare professional at the same time, I can totally see why you got drained out. Were you able to get your YT monetization issues resolved? That's so weird that your account isn't letting you through for no apparent reason, downright outrageous honestly. I highly recommend you try to do more shelling videos if you can, since they seem to crack a lot of views for some reason. Especially so if you put enough tags in your videos like "shelling", "beachcombing" or "north carolina shelling" etc. Hope all is well! :)
I'm scrolling through Comments on YT Studio and I'm just seeing this comment! I'm sorry I haven't responded until now, but I recognized the name of your channel from your awesome shark ID comment you made on our most recent video! All I can say is it's totally demoralizing to put in all the work to get the metrics to have a monetized channel, only to be told there is some issue with getting approved for monetization, and not be given the specific issue or the remedy. Thanks for your support, encouragement, and ideas!
YT does not like Catch and Cook content either. Many are having issues there
That is a very good point. I know the main issue is with hunting videos, but I've also heard the same about fishing, particularly catch and cooks.
Delete the Covid videos and re-apply I bet you get it then I mentioned Covid in one of my outros and that video was demonetized before it was even released
