  • This check engine light has plagued me for a while. I have finally figured out my issue but yours could be different. This is a very common code in the 2005, 2006 Jeep Wrangler with varying fixes.

Thank you for the video, I have an 05 Rubicon Unlimited with 3 hundred thousand miles on her. I have had to replace two and about to replace one this weekend for I have the intermittent loss of signal code also. In your video you show your check engine light and I looked at your volt meter and it is less then 14 just as mine got after it bucked and threw me it’s code. My meter runs just right of 14 when running but while running after code it remains to the left of 14 and reading of volts out of sig lighter bounces from 13 to 12.05 to 11 at a quick decelerations like at a traffic light. Thank again for the video and I will get a good look at my camshaft gear when I pull my OPDA. I may be rebuilding her soon. Be well during these crazy social stuff. Keep on keeping on. ✌🏻

Have you tried a factory oem camshaft sensor mind was doing the exact same thing for months I put several aftermarket ones in and that I was told to try AOEM camshaft position sensor a Mopar one It runs beautifully now

I did buy a new Mopar branded one and the problems got worse. I think for me it was just wiring, but now the Jeep has other problems so I can't be certain of that lol. check this video out ruclips.net/video/ysnZ07jc66g/видео.html

I’m actually having this same issue the p0344 and p0340 but for my 2005 Honda Civic! This has been haunting me for a year now! I got the sensor replayed with an import direct brand so I may need to find an oem one now, that or I’ve read it could also be my crank shaft position sensor as well

All though your cam looks like it does need replaced it might not fix it. I have an 05 that I replaced the cam, lifters, rods, timing chain, timing gears, opda, coil pack and crank sensor and its still throwing codes. When I bought the jeep in 2018 it had a refurbished ecm put in it in 2017 so I'm thinking that is the problem with mine. Good luck.

I have an 06, just replaced the opda, still having the same problem! We just bought this jeep, & the Dealer had just replaced the ecm! The cam gears don’t look bad, I’m super stressed out about this! Also the damn wiring harness clip basically disengrated when I plugged in the new cam sensor, had to tape it all up! Not 1- Jeep dealer has an idea of what’s wrong

whatd you end up doing with the cut wires? did they work being coupled directly without the connector? i know that wasnt your issue but ive replaced the OPDA with crown unit, cam and crank sensors with mopar ones and new mopar timing chain.. still having issues, the connector on the cam sensor never clicks in, it does make contact and work and sometimes run perfect but randomly when it heats up will have issues now wont even start when its hot, thinking about just getting rid of connectors on both sides and soldering wires to eliminate that as an issue before replacing the entire camshaft

It didn’t fix the problem. I’m 100% the cam is the problem, likely your problem also. I got a few months out of my new opda before the cam gear wore it down and I’m back to square 1. Time to pull the cam I’m afraid.

@@gearmonger1927 Check the wiring harness where it goes around the valve cover., on the passenger rear side, near the firewall. That point is a potential area for rubbing and breakage of wires. Might save you the cam job... Good luck!

@@Peter-rh7wo I've been through all the wiring all the way to the computer it's all fine. That is a typical problem area though, thanks for the comment 👍
