I would think they way they are breeding these 'exotic' heads that they have breathing issues/health problems - can anyone confirm? I can't imagine this would be an endurance prospect which is what they are well known for.
Magic Magnifique.....you are all so right! The dish is extrem, mind you, I have seen even worse already in foals!! Oiled eyes and nostrils, muzzles, neck stretcher and curver under which the horses sweat all day in the stables ( they look like big padded hoods covering the length of the neck, so that the poor horses have this unnatural curved neck in all situations, especially the stallions look like they are seeing a mare in heat all the time over in the adjoining paddock. I wonder if the extreme dish on the head makes the breathing harder, so that is why these horses open their nostrils permanently and it seems they are straining to breathe fully. This stallion has a nice jaw nevertheless, I can't see how wide it is in between, probably not very wide, he has nice ears and tail carriage, too. I also like his colour and his well laid shoulder. All these positive points do not help him under saddle, as it seems he is not ridden very often...judging by this pathetically short and quick flash picture of him? under a rider... Perhaps it is a different horse looking like him
Just look at his foals, their heads are terrible!! Also I do not like that the straight Egyptians are getting taller and taller. Some of them look now like pretty warm blooded riding horses, very fine-boned though. Sadly, a lot of people look at those beautiful old paintings and direct their breeding at those ideals and the results are paintings come alive but not real horses who can perform the tasks, or half of the tasks the real hardy horses of the old Arabia had to perform. These tasks are partially mimicked today by the long distance riding that these show horses could never do. They need free breathing for that. Horses have only one airway, I learned that very early and it seems that most of those show people who only keep their horses on a long leash like dogs do not know this anatomical fact, or they would not breed for extreme dish heads which look very cute, I admit, but this is not healthy and is actually animal abuse, if it restricts the horses breathing. come paintings
Ein schönes Pferd wenn man ihn auch ein Pferd sei lassen würde und nicht wie ein poliertes Auto präsentiert. Ich glaube der Bub ist ein armer Knopf weil er schön ist
Agree, completely. Not necessary for the horse. He's "naturally" beautiful. It's the "stupid humans" that think he can be IMPROVED! That's God's job folks!
Horribly skewed face, nothing like the Arabian of old, has become the equivalent to the pug of the horse world, what a shame, such beautiful horses and vibrant personalities, but the obsession with a bigger and bigger dished face. 2:08 had a much more beautiful face, and that delicate dish that is so clearly arabian without being horrendously disfigured.
I sure don't understand why they are breeding these horses to have such strange looking heads they don't look at all like they used to which was a much more beautiful horse overall if it ain't broke why fix it think about that!🤔
It's sad that they are breeding for the deformed head, that is NOT how a true Arabian should look like. Just like the munchkin cat they are breeding for a certain look. The poor horse will have so many health problems.
Kathy Collins I was wondering about that. Was looking at photos and paintings of Arabian horses from years ago, and the concaveness of the face was not this extreme. Was wondering why it is considered desirable.

I wish when I was raising Arabian horses years ago, I had found a sire this wonderful for my mares. He is magnificent!
