Yes, he blows money on paying Homer to be his prank monkey, but notice that he still starts off in SINGLE DIGIT dollars at first instead of triple or quadruple digits even though he's wealthy. Losing a lawsuit would make him lose way more, and even if he won, he would still lose thousands in legal fees and wouldn't even get a laugh out of it. 3. It would be funniest if it was just him and other Springfielders respecting Carl greatly because viewing this through innocent lenses makes it a wholesome joke. 4. You people are either American, people who use Twitter, or both. Politics has rotted your brains to the point where you feel the compulsion to be both toxic and stupid. Those who throw in their own two cents on the interpretation of the joke while being respectful are fine and are neither category.

Mr Burns was quite cruel, not only because he got Homer to become his "prank monkey," but because he initially gave Homer a better job title name as "executive in charge of recreation," which would be a name given to a respectable top-earning employee; Prank Monkey not only demeans Homer but makes him appear non-human, showing that Burns treats Homer like he's his pet.
