  • Huineng (638 - 713), was a great master, revered by people
is the sixth patriarch of Chinese Zen Buddhism.
He was a student of Fifth Patriarch Hoang Nhan, and attained enlightenment before he became a monk.
Before Huineng, Zen still had a heavy Indian influence, but during his lifetime,
Zen began to take on uniquely Chinese characteristics.
That's why some people believe that he is truly the founder of the Zen sect here.
After enlightenment, he returned to the South to spread the Dharma.
to Phap Tich Pagoda in Guangzhou to officially become a monk.
Later, when he passed away, Zen Master Hui Neng's physical body was located there
Hoa Nam Pagoda, Shaoguang District, Guangdong Province, China.
The surprising thing is that Master Huineng's body did not decompose.
It is said that he practiced to the point of "indestructible diamond body".
