My first ever designer interview for Esquire was with Nino at this house near Biella, the home of the Cerruti textile empire. A beauty. What a gent he was. I recorded the interview on a mini tape player as we walked round the garden in the autumn. I got lots of pearls of wisdom half drowned out with the sound of crunching leaves.

There's not alot of New Yorkers going for an auction like this I'd trust to not go to town redecorating and renovating way beyond what you Nick, and I would find reasonable, unfortunately. I totally agree with you, repainying the façade would be a crime, and thr bathrooms with their monochrome pops of color, each one in a different tile, are brilliant! As is the yellow tile on the terrace, and the old wallpaper in that storage space is wow, wonderful to preserve! The reserve price is incredibly low for theis hige property with all buildings and 4 or 5 acres of mature well kept landscaoe to boot, but I expect it will be selling for WAY above that on auction.
It's really wonderful to gave been able to see all this, thank you!
Id probably redo the kitchen, and tgen focus on the other houses to get them into decent shape. And send in an application for a swimmingpool build. A bit away from the main house preferably, with all that land it's nicer to take a little walk to the pool. Also there may be a septic tankt or two under the grass in that courtyard.
This property offers immense possibilities for a boutique hotell/B&B, any business, and joint ownership as well as a big family with lots of kin buying it together. Just as I imagined, tasteful, elegant, top quality and nothing fussy or in your face. What's more is all the surfaces are beatiful, it's simple and honest but with bonkers exclusive materials and ambiance, and the view is lovely, the location fantastic!
Thank you Nick, it's been very good! 👌❤️😍

textures and colors here are a feast to behold! a marvelous and timely wearing about it that over the years has added that wonderful livability to it so it aging and patina only makes it more beautiful! it has a distinct nobility and fineness there to make it lush while so cozy comfortable - that lived in loved home appeal that makes you appreciate who occupied it -- with such luxury and grandness to make it dreamlike ... like you stepped into a world all it's own. it is gorgeous! situated in a fantastic countryside that makes italy a place set apart. piedmont italy is where my ancestors were rooted for centuries, immigrated to america in the 1850's. it tugs on my heart, so seeing it up close this way, makes me long to see it in person. more time spent here would be delightful! as always, you bring out the best in italy nick!

I adore the 'boot room' perfectly situated next to a lavatory to freshen up after a stroll around the property, or perhaps a relaxed horseback ride. I've watched this quite a few times, and shall continue to do so until I leave this earth. It's breathtakingly beautiful, and yes, the house is quite wonderful, but I love it for the lack of ostentation - instead imbued with warmth and romance. Oh, if I could have that run down apartment. The hidden balcony with yellow old tiles and spectacular walls - dusty pink, faded strawberry and like the inside of a mouse's ear (I know because my daughter has a mouse) I wouldn't change a thing. My home town :) Biella is renown for textiles, even though many factories have moved to other countries. I believe one Cerruti’s family member (not sure if his brother) lived in the same flat as my uncle in Biella. Other World known designers from that area, is Zegna. Had I known you were there I’d would have recommended beautiful land marks in the area. I miss visiting Piemonte. As always, keep up with your stunning videos Nick!

There are some houses which don't need a "makeover" and this is definitely one of those, the next owner is just the custodian. I would change the bare minimum just repair where needed and would want as much of the furniture and some of the memorabilia too . Now where did I put that lottery ticket!

How sad that they have to sell it. I live in Biella. I hope someone buys it, restores it by hiring local folks, and boosts the local economy!
In additional to the places already mentioned, Biella is 4 hours away from Switzerland and France, the Italian/French Riviera,. An hour or two more, you can be at the Dolomites, Venice, Tuscany, etc. Tons of great wine regions Monferrato, Barolo, Langhe. Don't forget Alba for white truffles! Also if you like hiking/biking in the mountains, Biella is definitely for you.

Great video and dialog Nick. You always present the interesting side of every property. This one has an incredible back story to say the least. I enjoy all of your commentary and historical perspective. I spent time on my original trip nearby in Vignale Monferrato. The scenery is like being in a watercolor painting. Some lucky buyer is going to get a real treasure. Minus the rocking chair of course!

Nick, I hope you are able to get us to see some of Emilia-Romagna in your travels. You are becoming the Stanley Tucci of Italian Real Estate videos. For many of us, you have introduced areas often times overlooked. I like how you are branching out to other regions and collaborating with other agents. If I was an agent in Italy I most certainly would turn to you to help market any property I had for sale. You should be exceeding 90k subscribers anytime now. 100k cannot be far behind!

Still Wandering 🇮🇹 did a seaside town yesterday in Shirolo maybe missed spelled but the mayor let him do a Drone view to he said it’s expensive but maybe you can do a summer video of the homes 🏠 for sale or redo ones plus any apartments to. Do the ending at the outdoor restaurant seating area by the ocean view just the Cicada’s are noisy. 👍📸🏠🇮🇹👍

Nick, great video. The lamp over the Nino Cerruti-designed bed-and elsewhere throughout the villa-is the ‘Tolomeo’ by *Artemide* (not ‘Archimedes’, as you misstate. An honest mistake!☺️). Cheers.

Unbelievable, the history in an Italian House! Well actually all you have toured so far. I would like to know if you could address real life for a moment. The cost of day-to-day life. For example, some homes have a caretaker, and/or housekeeper, maintenance man, gardener. Do you know the costs involved for those kinds of services there, you would have to add that to your monthly operational costs if you were to try to start a rental business. Love your channel and have watched some of the videos 3 and 4 times. I must admit I am enamored with the gardens. Thank you.

Thanks so much Nancy. It all depends on the size of the property and the garden. It can be expensive depending on how much work your require. 🙏🤗❤️
