At minute/second 10:09/10:08 (and 10:19) it clearly shows how a "dot"/shot touches the player, and he doesn't die. I think he´s playing the game in an emulator, not the original console.
@11:26 The boss is a corrupted monk wearing sunglasses. Pretty sur the kid could have made it through with a couple of bank notes without even having to fight.
Long shot... but I'm really struggling to find this game with the audio that's in this vid. This is the music as I remember it, everything i'm getting just sounds like some gross strings have been added

I loved this game so much. We didn't have the Master System. My Stepdad was a huge Sega guy so he had the Converter.
It's a hardcore game from my childhood
The enemies were so strange and abstract. It's like a fever dream.
I absolutely loved this game as a kid ❤️
Damn, that was a difficult one when I was a kid.
I remember going back to this with an emu just so I could save scum and actually see the ending without grinding millions of minutes
lmfao same, emu redemption clan
This is like "Fantasy Zone" mixed with "Monkey Magic"!😂

Oh my gosh this one of my favorite games as a child I this is amazing
I still have the cartridge for it somewhere. It was such a strange game, but I loved it
This was an infuriating game - dying and losing all your power-ups was game over. They might as well only give you one life.
It’s very fun but it’s very hard
I remember playing this with my brother for hours and hours…. Having turns seeing how far we could get, I don’t think we ever defeated this game.
I don't remember this chapter from The Journey to the West.

The amount of times I wanted to chuck my sega out the window from losing all the time
