Well if 6-7 seconds to 100km/h in 2 tons of a Sedan with automatic and Torsen AWD is slow for someone, then I have no questions. Honestly, the people who complain that this is slow are probably some Civic or Golf drivers who never drove something that goes 0-100 in less than a month, but they are mentally 12-year-olds with images of GT-Rs and 918's on their wall claiming that their 500 Euro car will beat that new M5 or the "Ferrari wannabe" that is the Alfa Romeo Giulia, on a drag strip if given a chance. Of course, even when they do get a chance they get their asses handed to them, but will never admit their failure and will instead opt to complain about the weather or the fuel or anything just to avoid accepting their loss... But I digress. The Audi A8 with 4.2 V8 is probably the cheapest V8 car you can get in Europe- I'm positive it's the cheapest functional car with V8 you can get in Poland (I don't know about the rest of EU). That is a very well made car and an amazing bargain if you find one with low enough mileage so that you won't have to invest the equivalent of what you paid for the car into pointless repairs that will achieve only temporary functionality. Those cars have full aluminium body so unless they been hit, they should not have any rust on them and parts for them are very cheap for their class + well maintained A8 refuses to break. Sure the electronics may not always work, but it isn't a dealbreaker given that it is cheap and easy to fix most of the time. The A8 is an amazing car for the price on a used market and I myself am saving to buy one and make it a Youngtimer that I'll be able to show up in on all sorts of Car Meet Shows in Poland, and go to Italy every once a while- which should not be expensive with LPG installation and the relaxed driving on the Highways of Austria and Italy. I like these cars and I have a lot of respect for people who care for them. They may be cheap, but they should be respect for what they are- an entry level European V8. Peace

For me, a Luxury Sedan with a Diesel is a Crime that should be punishable by death... If only the Diesel in the A8's were reliable, but no, the 2,5 V6 is one of the worst engines ever made- low revving, high maintenance, low mileage (for a diesel) piece of the sorry excuse of an engine which's one redeeming quality is that you can easily swap it for a V8.

Yes, an A6 4.2 feels a quicker/lighter/sportier because it is. I’ve driven one and it feels a little bit tighter than my A8 4.2, the performance difference isn’t huge, but they definitely feel different from each other.
Echo540 540 You should drive one if you’re really curious. The A8 4.2 is a big cruiser with great power, the A6 4.2 feels like a sport sedan. Lighter weight, smaller car, same power = quicker car :)
Good : - a bit cheaper here in France, Italy, Germany well western Europ - spartan mechanic, tough, solid, less electronic - faster & more power - less aerodynamic noises - Mercedes-Benz badge... Bad : - RWD (doesn't exist in "4Matic") - ugliest (A8 isn't really sexy anyway) - lower "self-estime", gypsy-style car - Mercedes-Benz badge ^^
