- Welcome to our LIVING channel. We've Valentina and Jack and we've been married for 25 years. After a few years being married we decided to embark on an adventure that took us to live in Spain, Morocco, and Denmark.
Now, let's fast forward seven years, and we found ourselves back in our hometown of Atlanta. Our hearts led us to a charming 1993 house that was in dire need of a transformation. In this vlog, we invite you to join us on a tour of our modern cottage and the updates that we've made over the last seven years.
We're sharing the process of renovating and updating this beautiful modern cottage. We're so grateful to be able to update and care for this home and thankful to be able to share this story with all of you as well.

I love that you admit it has taken 7 years to get to this point. As a "hobby" decorator, I remind myself daily to take my time and not make mistakes by thinking I must finish a room in one week. Thanks for your channel.
Absolutely agree. All those tv shows constantly pushing to finish any types of renovations in a crazy short time frame. I remember in one show they were running out of time to put curtains so they used stapler! How silly is that: curtains are staplered to the wall itself! In reality good things take time and I also like that this fact wasn't just edited out from the video. Almost nobody never say how long it actually take to finish the project, they even say to bake cookies in the oven for 15 minutes while in reality not a single time in my life I had cookies done that fast.
Valentina ...I genuinely wanna Thank you for reminding us women ( wives, Moms etc.) that it's ok to want the very best for ourselves in every way in our lives. That it's ok to want luxury and spoil ourselves. That we are deserving and that it is possible even if you aren't wealthy...it is still possible. 🙏 Love your channels ...you're so inspiring.

I LOVE YOU TWO SO MUCH - but have a teensy suggestion.... I think - as much as I love your current bedroom - there may be a bit too much happening on the " bed wall""( ie table lamps, picture lamps, mirrors AND artwork.). The eye has alot to absorb. Just wondering if you removed the 2 black and white large prints above the bed it would read as less busy and therefore more elegant. Just a thought - I'm no expert and I love most everything you do. ❤ Xoxo from Canada.

I actually LIKE much of the modern Black & White Art in your home (tho not always a fan of it's endless repetition)...however I STILL maintain that the art over the bed is Jarring (as in a Hangman's gallows)
...and LESS than LUXE.
Wonder if it will eventually go the way of the once-loved Black/White/ Stripe bedroom rug???

Through you and Jean Stoffer, I have finally honed in our color palette and style. I’m loving making this home ours. Thank you so much. And yes, I’d love to see the upstairs of your home.
The biggest advantage of the carpet would be sound absorption, so you wouldn't have that echo.
It’s good to know that it took you 7 years to make the changes. And save up for those changes. A good lesson in have a big picture plan and do it in small manageable stages.

I love that y'all were able to reflect where you've lived in the current home. We're doing the same thing, but with nods to New Orleans, Cleveland Wharehouse District, North Carolina and Florida. It's basically tropical/southern/rustic industrial and we're finally loving our space now that we've figured it out!
Although we've been on this renovation journey with you it's great to look back and see how far you've progressed - beautiful as well as functional.There was just a moment in the walk-in wardrobe, when you were going through the photos, that the emotional connection came through. Well done both of you on creating an amazing home and life for your family.

I have to say...I prefer the black bedroom better. But understand why you are enjoying the change. It's fun to see the changes you have made over the years. I love to make changes in my own home.😊
It’s always a work in progress! I’m renting a post neglect house. My landlord is cool with me restoring the house and making improvements. Yes, I’m renting. And people argue with me all the time that we’re wasting money on a place we don’t own. I argue that they don’t own their house either. The bank does! Besides, I want a place I enjoy while I live here! I’m sure my landlord appreciates the sentiment. Actually improving a rental instead of abusing it.
The landlord painted the exterior from a faded yellow, to Downing Slate with Bolero red doors. I’ve painted the lower kitchen cabinets in Behr’s Carbon in a high gloss. I’ve turned the backyard from a lumpy mud pit, into an flat, inspiring oasis. We’re installing a pergola next spring. I’m also doing the other kitchen (we have two small units joined by a communal laundry room) that we both rent. So we definitely have our hands full!
But, I owe a LOT to you! Your channel has been an absolute inspiration for a lot of what I do. I love your lush, lux design sense and the black, white and green color scheme. Your design direction gave me the push to get over the terror barrier and try something new! Thank You! 🙏🏼
Well done. That’s an awesome landlord. Wow you’re inspiring me to keep going with my reno. Getting over the fear and just going for it is the best part and spills into every aspect of life. Even 6 months after starting on my main area I’m still in awe of the change every day. Don’t know how long I’ll live here now but for the first time in 16yrs I fully intend to enjoy it as I can make any changes I like (within next to zero budget). Awww. Like Valentina said, a lot can be done with just paint! The most expensive part of the backyard is bags of rocks and the lumber for the pergola. My husband is handy, so he can cut and build it.

Upcycling your ceiling fan by having it painted black is my absolute favorite. It pays homage to environmental concerns.

First reno we also did was get rid of the bathroom carpet and put down nicely textured tiles. And you're so right: there's always something!! And separate closets (and bathrooms, btw) are great! Love what you and Jack have done!

Always love your home tours! You’ve had a vision and not compromised and that’s inspired me so much. The greenery sets off the black and white so well. I’m sure your fireplace wall is burnt into my TV and is a part of my lounge room! Would love a garden tour too. Now I’m painting my rooms white with some matte black furniture it’s completely changed my home and my heart and I’ve had a feeling of excitement in my body now it’s coming together.

To be honest with you the “before” footage is what is a lot of houses for sale still look like around me, if not more outdated. Built around the same time too, I’m in suburban St. Louis. I got a lot of inspiration from your videos as we made renovations to our own home (also built in the 90s and not kept up with as far as style) ❤

This was a fun one! I actually love that you kept the wall in the kitchen - it is still a big space with fireplace view but it gives you some separation from food prep and mess while in the living room. It’s funny how much bigger your version of the living room looks!

We are Germans and moved to Michigan almost 8 years ago, but we know what you are talking about when you speak about the Swedish or Spanish Style. My husband and I are outside Atlanta and family has been here since beginning of state and NC. I have been renovating our home for years and had spent 165k in 2018 and got screwed over and hardly anything done and what was now has to be redone as work wasnt done correctly on things. Finding good people has been hard. Also even though I grew up wanting to be designer and went to school for a while in Vegas for it I had to stop and Im retired military and have lived in many places around world and later got degrees in other areas that were in areas that was talked into (medical and international) and now in early 40s retired and just working on my home and taking care of my family. My husband's business works for all kind of large organizations and companies all over Atlanta like ball field and airport etc and his family has business there in trades like havac . I have a very specific look going for and know elements but putting together and getting the high end designer look of it instead of a thrown together of those things that speak of the look going for and even if costly still comes across cheaper and just missing something. Enjoy videos and now knowing here even more so.

The home is beautiful and cozy. I love that it isn't open plan. I do think that the furniture is too big and heavy-looking for the small spaces though. There are also too many large decorative items that make the spaces look a bit cluttered. Thanks for letting us in.
