I'm fine if you make an OC. I'm even fine if it's a sibling OC. Just... Don't poorly recolour a canon character. I'd love to see someone draw their OC by hand, just, don't trace it. Don't make them op and make them their own character. In their bio, there shouldn't be any sort of "All Hashira love her." Or "Shinobu wants to kill her because Giyuu loves her." I'm even fine if they have a character love interest. Just follow these steps and people might like or tolerate your OC. 1. Don't make them very powerful. Kanoe, that's a good rank for a humble OC. If you are confident, you can make them high up. Just, be careful. 2. If you ever draw them out. Never ever use a tracer or base of a canon character. It's one easy way to be made fun of. 3. Never try to make their love interest a character canonically in love or a popularly shipped character. For example, Giyuu, commonly paired with Shinobu. 4. Don't make them the main character. Make them a side character, and don't introduce their love interest immediately. An OC main character is just a OC AU. Making them a side character humbles the OC, and it can even be a significant side character, like how Inosuke is. Just no OC MC. 5. If you can avoid this, do it. Never, in the history ever. Make your OC a mary sue upper moon/Hashira. I'm 1000% sure will be disliked. 6. Try to not make them a self insert. It's obvious when it is, and it's just... Sad.
