    Dear Up North Biker, thanks so much for this video. I changed my Tiger Sport's air filter and spark plugs today and all your advice helped me so much!!

      @@upnorthbiker Fortunately having seen your video I purchased a magnetic, bendy spark plug wrench! I'm living and biking in Japan, but my mother lives in Guiseley, Yorkshire. I was in England for two weeks this summer. I was so surprised how expensive the UK is now 😮

      A little bit of rust came up with the left hand spark plug. I gave it a good vacuuming and hoping for the best.........

      I would check the seal on the ignition coil if there are signs of rust.

      The roads in Japan look awesome. I watched the Missenden flyer’s tour and he only covered a small area.

    Thank you for this very clear tutorial. It helped me out. I noticed that my 2016 Tiger sport 1050 had a set of NGK CR8EIA9 iridium sparkplugs installed at 20.000km. These have a longevity of 160.000 km( 100.000 miles) so I ended up replacing them without changing. The sparkplugs only have 20.000km on the counter, so even if I decide to change them at halve their livespan, I can ride another 60.000km with them.

    Nice one UNB. I’ve had my fairings off several times now and it does become a doddle. The tang and grommet idea is great in my opinion. Always take the big fairing off first. Just the one screw under the headlight, then slide forward like you showed. Brilliant! Suggest those trying this job understand how it works before sliding the fairings back on.(Mine had been mullered by some cretin too). £248 for a replacement.
    That left spark plug removal. CHEAP DOUBLE ENDED SHORT BOX SPANNERS! First one will drop down onto the plug. Second one will fit into the first and stick out so’s you can get a spanner on it. Worked nicely for me.
    Another way to lift the spark plugs out is to use a length of rubber hose that is a snug fit over the ceramic. Also good for starting the plugs when replacing. No chance of cross threading.
    (That fuel connector can be a bastard ‘till you know how it works can’t it!)😊

    Thanks for the video, very clear and useful as usual. However, it would habe been interesting to know the values of the throttle balancing and a quick explanation of how to balance them with the screws. Thanks. Chris

    • @upnorthbiker
      @upnorthbiker  9 месяцев назад

      Agreed. I expected to have to adjust them but they were spot on. If you have to adjust them it is trial and error. Adjust one only and see if it looks like they can be balanced, if not try a different one. I am sure there will be other videos showing this on a tiger or a speed triple which is a very similar engine.

    • @chrishumbert6399
      @chrishumbert6399 9 месяцев назад

      Is there not a standard value to adjust them from the repair manual?

    • @upnorthbiker
      @upnorthbiker  8 месяцев назад

      Not that I am aware of but they should be around 440-470 mmHG. The key is to get them all the same rather than a specific value.

    Hi, Great Vids by the way. Question.....what batter do you use on your Tiger 1050? regards

    • @upnorthbiker
      @upnorthbiker  Месяц назад

      It still has the original battery on it. I ride it a lot even through winter which I think helps it stay good.

    Get a swivel socket head, sometimes called a universal socket head. Makes getting that last plug out a non-issue.

    • @upnorthbiker
      @upnorthbiker  Год назад

      Thanks Jim. I tried mine but with it all being 1/2 inch drive everything was a little too wide or the extension bars were too long or too short. I will try the box spanner idea from Phil to see if that works next time or buy a spark plug socket for my 3/8 or 1/4 set if I can get one.

    Hi dear, have a 2015 version of the Tiger Sport, what are your thoughts about a sport air filter like BMC or K&N? Any improvement maybe with a central update? Thanks! You did a good job here! 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

    • @upnorthbiker
      @upnorthbiker  Месяц назад +1

      Anything that helps the bike breathe easier will improve the performance. I doubt it would need remapping if that was the only change.
