Open Work Permit available for 'Vulnerable temporary foreign workers'

- If a temporary foreign worker is working in Canada on a 'Closed Work Permit' i.e. an 'Employer specific work permit' AND is vulnerable to abuse at work place, then there is a new provision available for that person to apply for an OPEN WORK PERMIT WITHOUT AN ADDITIONAL FEE. YOU WILL HEAR from IRCC within 5 DAYS once you apply online.

If the person has his family members in Canada, then they can also receive an OPEN WORK PERMIT.

I received a closed work permit because of my permanent residency in Canada, and I even paid taxes that owner should had to pay for my permanent residency, but I couldn't say anything even though I was paid less than the actual minimum wage and frequently my owner insulted me. If I report my abuse it definately might loose my chance to get PR.I'll definitely get disadvantaged.My owner don't even give me a payslip.I am discriminated unlike other employees.other employees get pay stubs with written down detail items
I'm worried that there might be a problem with my permanent residency causing by my abuse report. I am hesitating whether reporting or not about my abuse. It is so difficult to record the moment of mental abuse.

hi sir Thanks for wonderful information i want to share my story with you, I’m working in on close work permit Alberta but my employer is not good his behaviour is not good And he always make a work schedule according to his choice and And he always change work timing sometime he called me early morning sometime late . Everyday he says i want to close early everything should be done before 8pm. Sometimes he doesn’t call to dishwashers he uses us for dishwashing and cooking. Can i call to police on work or can I submit online complaint against him. If i will call to police or submit complaint then can he send me back to india?? Or i have right to stay in Canada until my workpermit duration even he will kick me out from work?? Please reply me sir

Short answer - No.
Unless there is mental / emotional abuse involved in your case due to lack of appropriate salary.
