One thing I forgot to mention was the research itself has become too much institutionalized, hard sciences and engineering as a field when becomes too much institutionalized it becomes very hard to make or discover something new. As both these fields involves looking into unknown, experimenting, which makes these fields chaotic and most of the great discoveries of humankind happened during chaos and by people who were chaotic and curious enough to go beyond the lines. All have come through phd scholars and professors.. All papers may not be equally valuable but the ones which are changes the world in ways which seem unimaginable. But may become verry highly demanded few years down the line... The research you mentioned in the video is from my area of expertise. Its not useless at all. I have worked in industry and academics both. I know what kind of work picks up and when. You may think no citation means no impact. But it doesnt work that way. Many people's work is not ready for that time but it becomes famous later when all conditions are favorable. Yes, many people do research on not very important topics but still, incremental advances are important for science. Science doesnt progress by huge discoveries only. Its incremental step by step findings which lead to major progress. Imagine, in any industry, its a combination of all small to medium to large companies. not just tata or reliance. same way, progress in science is made up of all findings and not just 1 or 2 noble prize winning ones. Even the big findings stand on the shoulder of smaller giants. I suggest that you please read the implication sections of the articles before calling them useless.
well you cant deny the fact that most people misuse the funds provided for R&D during their PhD period for their benefit, and publish useless papers for just getting that degree even without being interested in the field of study

Typically they don’t say on what subject ..just that they are PHd holders Very soon this will explode on India’s face as all PHd from India will be mocked ..even from prestigious universities
