Hey Roger, great video as usual. I always looking forward your Saturday content. 😊 In your last couple of videos you mentioned that you cought some squid. It would be great if you could dedicate a video or a part of a video on how you catch them. Thanks.
You’re videos always help me with my beach fishing. I have improved in all areas of fishing thanks to you.
Great to hear!
My name is Austin just so you don’t forget

Good job Mr Osborne.. Enjoy watching your videos
Thanks Roger, I'm really enjoying watching your videos as I am having a knee replacement and can't do my usual fishing for a month or so.
Great fishing trip.
Roger Osborne Your pure gold, fish on!
These videos bring me so much peace and relaxation, thank you for taking your time and making these for us to enjoy Roger :)
Thanks 😊
Here from jamaica, your videos help me alot with some large breamd
Great to hear!
Watching from Solomon Islands. 🎣 🐠
Yep .I know where you were. Most places have fish .
Great tuition bro ..
🎣 here in SA on the east cape coast, when the east wind blows, the water gets colder and the blue bottles and jellyfish wash ashore and into rivers,! 🎣
I lived in Bondi a while ago & was very suprised to catch so much on Bondi beach. The best was 6 species one evening on a rising tide. Just make sure the surfers have left first! I saw an old guy get a HUGE jewie & be annoyed as he just wanted some time out & now he had to go home , clean the fish & watch tele with wife, Grumpy old bugger.
Classic, great to hear.
I've noticed three fabulous Mulloway spots on the south coast and that's one of them.
Hi Roger, I have not seen you in waders mate.
Gotta watch out for those nasty blue bottles.
Great work my friend, you and Starlo are the best.
Thanks 👍
Hi Roger and Bec. Thanks for sharing another fishing adventure. I love watching you catch fish. However, I really appreciate the way you explain the beach structure, how the tide is flowing, what the conditions are like and how to prospect for fish. All the tips that you have shared have helped me personally and so many other people to catch fish off the beach. And I am very grateful. Here is a suggestion for the blue bottle problem. I take a pair of wetsuit pants and surf boots with me to the beach because the water in Vic is so cold. Maybe this could help you to avoid being stung. Once again thank you. Kind regards MP
Sounds like a good idea Michael
Thanks for the video Roger! Top quality content from a true fishing legend!
Much appreciated
Good thinking re the bucket in the sand. SMART!👌
Was off the rocks there all last week using tactics from your previous videos….amazing spot, heap of species & took home plenty of tailor for the family for dinner 🤤
Great to hear!
I'm loving your videos Roger, watching them on repeat all day. I second twilight fishing, love fishing for freshwater blackfish and trout in west gippsland on dark.
We love Roger’s Beach fishing videos! 🙌🎣
Thanks Jarrod 👌
hi, roger. just love your legit excuses as to why you need to keep your catch. i think you would make a damb good lawyer!!
What’s wrong with keeping them?
I like eating fish 😊
@@dragginmedown see the shuttle humour !! I'm not saying it's wrong! I'm saying that he can find good reasons to keep his catch!? He's funny 😂🤣
I am from South Africa and your techniques have helped me a lot...thanks keep it up.
Great vid mate, I live through you for beach fishing. 👍
I fish and still do that😊
Thank you 👍
Thank you 👍
Was salmon fishing yesterday from 5*00 o'clock in the morning and your right just on day break it when nuts the salmon come on the bite
Cracking session Roger, and another outstanding video. Thank you for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks Roger
It's interesting where you fished, and obviously you caught a lot of fish, as If I was to fish on that beach for the first time I would have never chosen that spot , as in to me it doesn't look like a good gutter, very interesting. Great vid Roger.
You're welcome George
Hey Roger warn folks about wading too deep I had a couple run ins with shark where common, they might go on the menu for the evening.... Just a thought.. but on CAPE COD USA it has guite a possibility due to an unprecedented increase in grey seal population..... By the way your show is the possibly most enjoyable fishing show going in the USA market, probably because of your relaxed knowledgeable demeanor and Australia's clean beautiful nature. Exotic yet familiar.the beauty of your continent is amazing I am sort of surprised your government hasn't realized your venue would really increase adventure tourism fishing . I can't imagine them not comprehending that especially those who need to relax ... I think it would be a real draw💲💲💲💲💲💲I neglected to mention bull sharks I have seen those cruise beaches in the middle of the day virtually on the beach .
Best fishing advice. Thanks
Glad to help
Well done Roger nice catch my turn tomorrow of to the northern flats for yellowfin whiting. 😊
Sounds great!
Thanks roger I will do up one of those rigs 🤟
That looks like Crampton Island.
Thanks Roegr - another great session. Nice whiting catch 🏆 I was sure that you were going to get stung by the bluebottles on the sand - especially as it started to get dark.
Thanks 👍
Love all your videos 👍
Well done Roger. Great videos.
Good beach fishing video mate love it 👍🍻
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks Rodger, it was a top video I lobe the beach outfit advice I’m just getting into it do you prefer a particular weighted rod and material I find the one I have a little stiff it’s a graphite 10 ft and I have a Penn wrath 15 ft rod which had great feel but is really heavy could you go through your reel brand and preferences on reel size
Minimum for beach
Thanks mate very informative as alwause mate thanks
Okay Mitch 👍
Great sesh Rog! 🥳👑
Great video as normal Roger. Thnx👍💯🙌
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Roger, can you still be stung by Blue bottle tentacles even when they are dead or been up on the beach for quite some time. Keep up the great work. Cheers
That small bream is a large one in my area😂😂
Great vid
Hi Roger you are so right. Low light fishing is the best time. I struggle to catch proper fish in the day here in SA
Thanks Ricardo
Anther great vid Rodger, would be great to get a lesson in dispatching methods and tips and tricks for storing/ keeping fish while you fish.
Thanks for sharing your fishing sessions and showing us how it is done. I'm keen to have a got at the beach fishing around Sunshine and Gold Coast. Could you please show us how you catch the squid!
Another fantastic video.. Just a thought, I fish at collaroy beach and blue bottles can be a hastle, i carry an old tracksuit bottom and an old pair of thick socks with my pants tucked into the socks. Now im not getting stung and stand in the water with confidence. As i said, just a thought. I always keep them in the boot of the car in case
Fantatic thank you so much for sharing 🎉🎉
Thanks for watching!
Another great video Roger, I’m hanging out to get back down to the beach and apply your tips. Question: how many different reel/rod combos do you have? Just that I’ve noticed several different line setups. Also, would you consider a squid catching video? Would be keen to get tips on that, how and where.
Good rig. I'll try it. 😊
That's a 'John West' Whiting the bait the Bream rejected.
Hi Roger, I thought those jelly fish are harmless dead. I should be careful next time.
Hi Roger, we had besides the bluebottles to avoid, blue dragons as well
Liking all your content Roger keep up the great work, isn't there something you can wear to protect yourself from the little buggers ?
Good session Roger
Another great video with great fish. Do them in never fail batter!! I have found vinegar helps with blue bottles. One thing I like about the beach is the happy people. I have only ever found one, an English lady who berated me on Pottsville Beach for fishing on sacred ground!!. Your tip about skinning squid has helped with whiting and bream bites. Thank you.
Thanks Geoff
Hi Roger. Danie from George, Garden Route, SA.
I am really enjoying your videos, especially your sense of humor and friendly chuckle after a comical incident.
My visitor's visa has been issued and I am flying from South Africa on 17 May for a 3 month visit to the Sunshine Coast. Definitely, I am going to use your techniques and my son in law's gear.
Thanks again for the excellent presentations.
Thanks George, I'm sure you will do well in Aus
i only fish seriously at dawn or dusk
Lake Tabourie
Hi Roger. Probably have missed you for a comment but it would be nice to know the weight/size of those star sinkers and how you choose them for the conditions.
Cheers Scott
They were size 2 sinkers Scott
Hair. Only become grey. With experience. Many thanks!
From South Africa.
Thanks for another interesting video Roger. Your two hook/sliding star sinker rig has been working for me since I tried it based on your vids.
Do you ever fish braid off the beach?
great video
Another enjoyable and informative session! Why do you not use circle hooks on your set line, considering they're designed to let the fish catch themselves?
Thanks Roger, absolutely love the videos. Learning new things every time I watch. I’m on the Gold Coast, and I must say the hardest thing I find is dealing with the swell. Every time I watch you fish you hardly have any waves you have to battle against. Any advice? Thanks mate, keep posting!
I often choose places that are protected from the prevailing swell, or I wait until the swell is 1m or less. It would be a bit harder on the Gold Coast because you have long stretches of beach. I would fish the southern ends of your beaches near the headlands.
Well done, a great catch here. I am jealous.
*"There’s a half buried bucket on the beach, impersonating a sand spike…"*
Sounds like the first line of a police report! 😀
Good improvisation, Roger. 👍
What beach are you fishing?
Tabourie Beach NSW
Gosh, lots of Bluebottles. Yuck. Hope you have your vinegar with you.
Hi Roger, love your videos....big fan of yours. I never see you use prawns as bait, is there any reason you dont use prawns?
perhaps you could do a video on how to humanely dispatch the fish you catch. Also why have you chosen that spot to fish. What makes it good?
Exactly where are you fishing 🎣
I also forgot my rod holder on Conjola beach last week.
My rod was a huge thing my dad bought in the 1970s.
I left it in the skip bin at the caravan park.
I ordered a new Assassin 12ft rod when I got home.
Well done Neil
Great video as usual!!🎥 just wondering what weight sinker you cast on your 10ft Maikuro. I purchased the same rod about a month ago and I can’t find a good all round sinker weight. Keep up the great work🎣🏝️🌊🐟
I think it's about 30 - 40g
@@RogerOsborneFishingthanks, I’ll have to get some of that weight👍
Good stuff as usual Roger. Just a heads up though that it might end in heartbreak using ganged hooks to target mulloway. Have had one occasion of landing a mulloway and the bottom two gangs were gone, and another where the fish was lost and again still had the top hook left. I think they are able to spread the eyes on the hooks as they pop their mouths trying to shake free. Much better to go a snelled rig
Thanks for the info
please can you advise on a method of keeping mosquitoes from trying to suck the life out of you, when your trying to fish at late afternoon at tylight, here in richards bay, its impossible to fish just at sun set . they seem to be impervious to tabard or any other sprays.
🎣 try rubbing Vicks on , mosquitoes don't like the scent,! ...
I am in PE bay,! (SA) 🎣
Maybe fine coffee powder just made damp to rub on,!?!...
I have seen a video of a home made candle, coffee was used in water mix, cooking oil on top, the wick thru a hole in bottle top; the mosquitoes don't like the scent,! ...
@@michaeleverton4882 thanks. can try vicks.
Why don´t you wear your Shimano-shoes???
❤❤👍👍
You sure the wind is from the north with that island to your right
Yes definitely.
You made another video about high tide being best, so is tide or time the best.
Hi Geoff, both have an impact. When you have high tide on sunset it is very good!
Berm stung by bluebottles. Not pleasant.
Hey Roger love your content. A couple of quick questions. When your secondary rod is in the rod holder how loose should you set the drag? Also when a large fish comes and bites or starts to take line on the secondary rod, should you tighten your drag and then strike or strike immediately?
👍
What rod is the one that you mentioned that is great for ladies? Mind sharing thanks!
Hey Roger, love your work.
I heard in this video what your smaller setup was, but can you please tell me what size rod & reel you are using on the larger setup?
I recently picked up a 12’ three piece rod, and want to pair it with the right sized reel for some larger species off the beach 🐟
I have a12ft 8-15kg rod. You need a reel big enough to hold sufficient 15kg line (about 300m)
Hi @@RogerOsborneFishing thank you for the response.
Is that a 6000 or 8000 reel that you are using? Looks beefy 🐟
if i may ask? are estuary bream the same as ocean bream? the bream we have in our tidal rivers, seem to be darker?
Yes, they are the same. They seem to adapt to their environment
@@RogerOsborneFishing thanks for your feedback.
Great! Thank you.
I had an interesting fishing experience - I was fishing in the morning, catching bream when I had an almighty bite that snapped my line. That afternoon, my wife fished too and had a mighty bite , landing a good sized bream. In its mouth was my hook and swivel attached to a length of line that perfectly matched my line. I'm pretty sure it was the same fish. what are the chances?
Oh wow! Very rare!
hi,again. please could you tell us ,exactly where you are based in australia?
Ulladulla NSW
When using a 2 hooks trace
can you tell me what size is the long shank hooks is
Hi Roger. Great video. What was the weight rating of the line you used?
It was 15lb
I wanted to ask, you talk about fishing twilight? Is this on an incoming tide or does it not matter what the tide is doing?
Mr. Roger... do sea worms exist on every beach?
Hi Roger, what's the name and brand of the rod you described,? I'm looking for a lighter beach rod that will be easier for me to handle
Shimano Maikuro 2, 10ft
What is the best rod for ladies to fish
Shimani Maikuro 2, 10 ft
Do you really have to keep every fish?
I don't keep every fish but we do enjoy eating fish
Is this in vic
NSW South Coast near Ulladulla
Hi Roger. A question if I may. Would a pair of tights (or even ladies stockings) be an effective barrier against blue-bottle stings?
Tights are very effective in NZ against sand flies.
If you wanna wear ladies stockings there’s no need to pretend it’s for stopping sand fly bites haha
I guess they would, but I am just happy to avoid the Bluebottles
@@dragginmedown 🤣
Riddle me this, coogee(WA) powerboat groyne. Salmow was my Target, Double hook, stinger style, mulie in a squid jacket, cast out into deep water, grappel sinker on the bottom, Salmon were cruising by on the rock wall, not biting. I kept getting bitten off, losig my hooks, robbing bait, cutting line, Baitfish were getting smashed, Herring I think? So I changed to the only gang hook I had, on a wire trace, illegal here now, but was in my tackle box, Had 2 hooks taken, got smashed inside a minute, So put the 1 hook back on, caught a small snap, swallowed the bait, didn't swim away. I don't like gang hooks, do to much damage for a release. But what was busting me off? I even had a strip of Bream I found on the beach, probably got gang banged? Every time I got busted off, lost my bait, Got hit hard, had some hard runs, so didin't think it was tailer, wasn't biting through my leader,
They released baby snapper in that bay a few years ago,
Some guy said they seeing good snaps under 1 of the ship builders jetty,,,
I've caught fish there before, snaps break me off on the rock wall. Will have to get a gaffe if I catch anything size, ripped my knee up, 62,, I go out there on my beemer, the GS. Going back Thursday, thanks for your tips,
Sounds interesting, I'm not sure what was busting you off!
Thanks Roger. Can you do a video on maintenance. Do you wash your gear after every use? Do you strip your reels and clean once a year?. Thanks
you should a video of when you are catching the squid before your beach session
Okay will do
I've caught good fish in the evening. But I always find I do better on Stockton beach from about 11 at night to just before the sun comes up when there's no one around. The idiots with the big fog lights driving along the beach scare the fish. But at those hour there's not a person to be seen
Sounds good Nathan
@@RogerOsborneFishing wasn't a bad catch of fish thought Roger
