Its just sad that all the Malls are done across the country its a thing that came and went. The 80's where the best time for Malls.
Yup I have ADHD and I have had like 50 jobs either a conflict with someone, unfairness, unappreciated, more money, or straight bored with the job and I'm out. Love what I do now work for myself have no conflicts and always doing something different. 😅😅
Thank you ! I can't tell you how much your comment has matched my work experience. I'm 59 and don't have ADHD, but I'm more of an introvert. I never liked jobs where I had to deal with the public. I used to work at Franklin Mills in the early 90's, when they had Motorcoach shopping trips coming down from New York. I loved the malls for the shopping experience but I hated working in them. Malls began declining with the rise of Amazon and other online shopping sites and I think that the COVID lockdowns, were the final nail in the coffin.
Man, that mall looks so different now. That Five Below used to be a KB Toys. I worked there and also at the Old Navy next to it back in 2002. You're spot on about how much personality and color that mall had back in the day. I remember the ramped sections having colored railings and black and white checkboard flooring. Makes me sad to see it this way now. The big talking Ben Franklin head being removed was a huge L.
Your comment doing these mall walks are awesome for people of our generation. Malls were a huge part of our lives if we didn’t work there we knew many that did and malls were the best places to hang in the 80s and early 90s! I used to play softball for merry go round we would go and run into the store after games all muddied up and raise hell with our girlfriends that worked there. We ruled the malls back then all the stores you mentioned we such a part of our lives! Gadzooks, record bar, tinder box, brookstone, Spencer , babbages, we’re some of best stores!
I was at Franklin Mills when it opened. It was uber busy in the early 1990s. Looks like a zombie apocalypse now.
I worked at Champs in the 90s....now American Eagle. That place was always mobbed especially Saturdays with all the bus trips.
Hey PHILLY CAPTAIN, great walk video & tour while shopping at Franklin Mills-NE Phila..Enjoy & TOODLES..
The first 30 seconds had me in stitches 🤣 😂 😂. I remember this mall being huge. When I was a kid, we used to go here often. My mom in fact worked at the Carrefour there at one point and they had their huge fair every year. I also remember the rollerskate rink and remember going to alot of birthday parties there. I remember in the mall, the huge Ben Franklin head that was a clock and told the time and his mouth dropped down ect. Yea good memories there
Most of the time I try on pants and shirts. I'm retired now and I feel like I'm revisiting my misspent youth eith the Captain at the malls.
The days when they had concerts at the Xgames skatepark where soo much fun!
??? Skatepark?
@@chm9935 yes there used to be a skatepark at the Franklin Mills Mall next to Sam Ash & Dave n Busters. Not sure if the skatepark is still there today but that place used to be booming!
Glamour Shots i remember because i used to work at one here in Chicago in the 90's😂😂😂😂
Insane I remember when they had the skatepark in there it was a crazy scene having to walk through the mall to get to the park lol
Why do you walk a mail you know don't have tv wall mounts? Oh, my family is from Germantown Pennsylvania and they called the liver room a parlor and Bars is a Tap Room. 😂
I didn’t know
You were almost an asshole, Captain....you redeemed yourself by calling it by its right name.
Man I used to live at this mall every day the entire summer as a kid. I’d survive off free samples of fudge from The Fudgery and 25 cent Dr Thunders from Pharmacy-Mor
I remember going to Pharmor to rent Nintendo games and movies! And loved that Dr Thunder!
Even worse than walking past a store security guard with nothing is walking past with a purchase that the cashier has forgotten to take the security tag off. Rummaging through the bag trying to find the receipt while the door alarm is blasting away is the worst.
Yeah. Ive seen that : (
They offer very little excitement or different variety of stuff to make you want to go there
That mall has been dead for yrs ,just some teenagers on the weekends.i used to go that place a couple times a week,Jillian's was great and being a outlet mall there's lots of shoes and clothes.
Man. I remember going to this mall and it was packed. Steve and Barry’s at the one end. Dave and busters. Man. It’s dead there. And it was called Glamor Shots
Went there today on Monday and find it closed at 7pm. Since when did they started to closed early?
I buy work clothes online and wing it. Remember by the fudgery back in the day the big mechanical Ben Franklin head in the air? #creepyasfu!k
I always need to try on jeans before i buy em.
I try on 2 items. Shoes and slacks. These can vary between manufacturers.
I will try on clothing, as for security guards I Will smile at them while leaving 😁
I wing it but don't buy cloths on line regardless..
I guess I usually wing it except for shoes/ sneakers
It's probably been since the early 1990s since I've been in Franklin mills mall I think there use to be a huge store called carport or something like that the employees went around the store on roller states 😊
I was only here once back in the 90's and it seemed cool back in the day ! So Sad that malls are a thing of the past! My problem was keeping jobs too lo g! Lol !
I wish I saw you at mall sweetheart 😘😘💋
I prefer to try on clothes rather than to guess and have to return it.
That would be a tv wall mount if it’s hung on the wall.
Captain these videos are your best you should go to these malls like once every 3 months or so.. they are interesting as the economy is changing faster than ever…
This novelty ran out for the locals real quick as the dregs of the city started to look at this place as the vacations they could never afford. Good riddens when it goes.
7:34 it's a real thing.
Omg the fudge place 😢
I was so tiny when getting samples
Imo Franklin Mills was never a great shopping experience. Even w the vacancies the mall is winning w Walmart.
I live out near the Lancaster pa area now
If you worked at Babbages there I probably bought 3DO games off you.
M@££ s£uml0rds: Namdar, kohan props, and moonbeam props
I never try clothes on. I know my size and try it on at home.
Nah cuz... I wing it
No I know my sizes so I just get my exact size or one size larger this mall used to be great now it’s dead and ghetto except Walmart good place to exercise though
Yo ma Franklin Mil's isn't Franklin Mil's anymore
I try on stuff at home! I jategoing in dressing rooms
I try that and never return the stuff that doesn’t fit
You think this mall is good to have a barbershop in there? Idk just a random thought lol
Use to be a hair cuttery back in the 90’s
@@ThePhillyCaptain so u think a barbershop in there could be good business in there? Or is it simply a dead mall lol & not worth it
I wouldn’t open anything in a mall
Did you see all the homeless people near the mall?
No. I was looking for a wall mount
Nah cus I wing it.
If I try clothes on I just wing it I just know what my size is if it looks a medium I go to a large shirt pants yo cuz
