Hi, planing to purchase new machine. Thinking about Stone or NS Oscar ii. Can you give me your advice? Espresso quality is important. As a third option was Lelit mara x, but prefer first to machines. Many thanks..
They are different in several ways, yet if bench space and start up tine is not an issue, would pick the Rocket Giotto. Where the Stone really wins is as a coffee machine for apartment living.
So good. I bought this product a week ago. Portafilter does not turn regularly, well it does not turn like a 6 o clock? What do you recommend? Could you help me? Thanks
It's often that with a new group gasket, the portafilter will lock a little bit to the left of 6'o clock. As the gasket wears in, you'll see it slowly lock further to the right. It's fortunately not something to be concerned about, as long as it is fairly close to 6.
for a home based upgrade that doesn't do heaps of work is this something that would out do a lelit pl42? the lelit was my first machine that's getting on in age and needs some love and ive been considering something bigger to upgrade ie a la marzocco or san remo or something but this caught my eye as but feel i might want something bigger later on down the track after making a few espresso's in a row for family and friends.
Price will depend on what country you are in. They range from 2700-3500 AUD. This particular one in the video was the Stone Mine Black, RRP 3099 AUD www.coffeeparts.com.au/stone-espresso-coffee-machine-mine-black
Looks fine and will fit many users and budgets. I am always a bit concerned when a review is more cosmetic than coffee TBH. It has a PID, but is it adjustable? If so, how and where? Same for pressure. Can ECO be turned off? 9I find Eco mode annoying, although perhaps less so on a "fast warmup" machine) If the main boiler is a steam boiler (i.e +100C) how does adding a heater to the grouphead (if that's where it lives) result in ~95C for coffee? That is, how does a heater cool 100C water down to 95C? Are the PFs standard E-61 size or proprietary? I suspect that under the skin, this is 90% your current Profitec/ECM and now Stone assembly, but is the boiler stainless? That would be more useful to know that magnetic tiles. And a word of warning to potential purchasers - if you lose or break one of your "tiles" in five years time you may have a hard time finding replacements. While the actual coffee-making parts are available for decades (usually) anything cosmetic (or even drip trays) can be a mission. Stick with standards
I still want the immediacy of a bambino. The minimal investment of time of a bambino, coupled with the amazing manual frothing capabilities when you want to, I feel Bambino Plus is what I'll actually go for shortly (looking at everything)
@CoffeePartsTV With my available space, I'm really craving something that could be multi functional and mostly kind of hands off on a busy workday coupled with the rather affordable price point... I don't know. The stone does look much more substantial and like I've heard the descriptions of the Sylvia or even the gagia being able to be upgraded and repair them, where I don't really see that being a thing for the Bambino Plus… Still that video of sub $500 espresso machines that James Hoffman did really did sell it for me. The quality that comes out of it at that price point with the minimal effort necessary is pretty phenomenal… but you can still enjoy yourself a bit and perfect your milk texture and dabble at art with the same unit when you have time on the weekend, Or use it like a filtered water countertop kettle and just pull hot water out of it for a cup of tea. Or effortlessly steam some milk to make hot chocolate for guests within seconds and pull shots with no notice. I love the immediacy of it. If I had the time and money, I would probably go for a Linia Micra or something from Lelit. They have a couple of gorgeous units with such a delightfully small footprint and pretty good reviews from everybody. I don't really have the time to make this a hobby, though, and I don't want to invest those rather significant sums of money that would be required to do so
Beautiful machine. Unfortunately no information on the porter filter : size, material, quality of the filter.... It's an important element when choosing though.
You're right, and in this case the portafitler being used is my portafitler and not that which comes with the machine. The machine comes with a standard double portafilter, same as you would find on most machine of this price point.
First I heard of it! Just checked it out online and looks cool as they have done things differently. May look to ordering one in future and doing a review :)
Looks brilliant but a machine that is 44cm in one critical dimension - depth - is not 'compact' imho - especially if bench space is at a premium. That is a lot deeper than many of its competitors and certainly puts a lie to the marketing of this unit as something for smaller kitchens.
The 10 min start-up is def awesome!!!! And smallish foot-print. Yet to see the wood in person, we get our stock in about a week, so itching to see the whole range in real life :)
This thing looks like garbage. Tiny water tank, only 1000 watts, no pid. Just doesn't make sense for the price. Spend an extra $100 for the Profitec Pro 400 or Lelit Mara X.
Why do you need an adjustable PID that much when the Stone doesn’t require temperature surfing anyways? 94c seems like a versatile temperature for most roast levels.
That's one of the ugliest espresso machines I have seen in a long time. Looks like a bit like the boxy robot that walks around in the original Star Wars. It may be small but it's fugly! Good video however.
Breville's are cool too and awesome value, I do like them for their price. Yet very very different build quality and finish, and personally prefer the coffee experience on the Stone.
Where’s the PID?
Beautiful machine. Rock solid job on the video as well guys 😜
Need!
You mean stone solid job ?
Where do you get this white portafilter?
Its a custom from Pullman Australia

Do you know some experiences or opinions about this machine in commercial use (in a little cafe)? Thanks a lot.
get little bit bigger like Profitec pro 400
Comparing to Giotto , what do you recommend?

Can you steam while brewing the coffee?, also, is there some sort of pre-infusion possible, or it is only an on-off switch?
Thanks in advance!
You can do both steam while brewing without any problem. Unfortunately, there is no pre-infusion.
@@pongwasu Thanks!
Informative video! Who are you talking to when the camera is recording the left side of your face? I feel like you are avoiding me! 😔

Bambino is cool for its price, very different machine and build quality tho.
If you had both side by side, feel the Stone would be the pick.

@@NoZenithyou cant compare it. The bambino lacks of steady temperature for making a really good esspreso. Temperature is too low and not steady
Can you steam and pull the shot at the same time on this machine? Wasn’t sure if this was possible on a heat exchanger
Yes, can do both espresso and steam at the same time :)
Where’s the access to the OPV

Stones looks cold . I didn't like the shapes. I would use complete wood material at sides . The rest of everything is perfect. Loved 10min warmup

Taking the pads to a craft shop to get wooden panels shouldn't be too difficult.

Thank you.

Why would one buy a heat exchange machine like this one when dual boiler machines are available for very similar money?
because they are not!

I posted a list of 4 double boiler machines that are priced roughly the same, but it seems my comment was deleted. I wonder why?
