after watching this video I think I may go get the same boat . It's so cool seeing a experienced pro like you get so excited about the 133x . I hope you continue to make videos in this boat .
One of the things I love most about kayak fishing is that it forces you to really “think” about your gear. You can’t really effectively take 20 rods and hundreds of lures out on a yak, so you really economize. You also tend to really test the capabilities of your rods, because you mostly have to use a single rod for several purposes. Kayak bassin’ just makes me feel like I’m really zoning in and thinking about what I’m doing, all the while having a blast and enjoying your surroundings. Congrats on your new fishing journey, @edwinevers
I've been looking at getting a kayak. Been a bank angler all my life and after watching your journey here I'm more excited than ever to try this so thank you and fish on!
That’s awesome!! Just got my first kayak for a no wake lakefront property we are about to close on. Can’t wait to get it on the water and start fishing. Just starting my fishing life at age 52 and I’m watching as many videos I can from your channel. Even more interesting now that you have a kayak. Congratulations on the catch.
Welcome to the vortex lol. It’s a different world in a kayak and lots of stuff to learn. 2 things. Tether your phone and tm remote to your PFD. it’ll save your life if you ever go in. Don’t rely on a lanyard around your neck, it’ll come off if you end up in the water. Have fun and look forward to seeing some yak vids soon!
I have been a weekend fisher for a long time. I usually go out with my best friend in his jon boat and we have a great time. We even catch a fish or two. However, I have been looking at the Ascend kayak for a while and I am very interested in your videos about this kayak. I hope you show more fishing from this kayak because it is making up my mind about getting one. Thanks for ALL your videos for it has taught me a lot. Thanks again.
Great to see you in a Kayak Edwin! I have been a paddle kayak angler for a couple years now. Forces you to be a minimalist on gear so choose wisely. I still carry several rods with different set ups but my go to has been a buzz or walking bait. Love the topwater bite up close and personal. You could name your Yak "Stealth" or "Stealthy Hunter".
Edwin in no way wanting to rain on your parade but if you truly want to enjoy the thrill of Kayak Fishing ditch the trolling motor, fish finder and the big heavy yak and get you a true sit on top yak meant for rivers with fast moving water. You are not far from the Illinois and there is nothing like going down a rapid backwards with a big ole smallmouth on the end of your line, that Bother is what Kayak Fishing is about! Love your channel!
One thing you have to watch out for is trees and logs under the water. That will flip or tilt the yak over and cause you to fall out. Happens most of the time when running higher speeds, coming back to the landing and traveling at higher speeds. Think of lakes like fork or lakes lots of standing timber just under the water. Enjoy your yak and keep them vid's coming.
This is kind of interesting, in that you are not only FAR from being new to angling, but not new to small, manpowered boats, either. Yet, this is a somewhat new angle on what you are used to. Definitely have a leg up on the learning curve. I'll be interested on your take on kayak angling. Welcome to the addiction! 😉
I'd love to see a whole series of you fishing from a kayak and you sharing your knowledge as it develops. I'm a 3rd year kayak Angler and the biggest thing I can share would be hooksets from a kayak. Boat positioning, lighter weight hooks, and rod/line configuration to offset the kayak not being as solid/stationary as your big Nitro....if that makes since. You'll get better hooksets fishing from the sides of your Kayak vs straight forward due to added resistance. Love seeing you fish my style.... close and personal out of a kayak !!! 👍 Oh yeah, no better name for your Kayak than Micro Nitro!
Just watched this. I got this kayak just last April myself. One thing I did to mine that I like a lot is I put a swivel on my seat. I can sit sideways or turn the seat around and fish off the back. Just a thought.
Cool cool. I was waiting on you to set hook standing up to see how it rocked. But dang it hardly moved!! Very stable little boat. I got a little bass buggy at home that I took lake fishing for many years it’s way different and relaxing. Thanks for the series
Check into to getting a Boonedox landing gear, for time that there no boat ramps, plus you kayak is heavy and it makes moving your kayak around more easier
What I like about the kayak is , I can sneak up on the big ones easier.. I don't cast a shadow like a boat , because you're so low to the water.. ENJOY The Frye Guy
I have never Kayak fished. But it does look fun. You always get such joy from the simple things in life and that is just great to see that something that simple can exude that much joy. Keep'em coming Edwin!!!
Been looking at kayaks for quite a while now. 133x seems to give you a lot for the $. The most popular mod I’ve seen so far is putting the seat on a swivel, so you can turn yourself side to side easier. Saving my pennies up for the 133x.
Edwin, I have a very simple kayak I have fished in where you are siting inside. Can't be any closer to the water. The bass actually pulled me around. What if you took your kayak to grand lake and practiced for the upcoming Redcrest. It will slow you down and you might discover something maybe you wouldn't have in the big nitro. Maybe put in up one of your favorite creek arms. I want you to win in March. 🐟🎣
Had been yak fishing the last 7-8 years and recently got a bass boat. Fishing out of a yak was fun and getting into places boats could not produced some good fish. Looks like you are already having a blast fishing out of it. May you have a lot more fun fishing out of the yak and save some of those big old bass for us. Tight Lines
Glad to see do you enjoying the sport that we all love. Next step is jumping into a few tournaments. Your son would probably love that. They are local clubs no matter where you live with fun events. It’s a whole new level of excitement…and a whole new learning curve. Ike, Jordan Lee, and other pros have tried it and enjoy it. Welcome to the sport.
You got spotlock and eyes in the water. I wouldn’t deck it out anymore than that. Enjoy the simplicity (compared to the glitter boat) and the new experience.
Watch out your nitro may start collecting dust in the garage.lol Got hooked on kayak fishing 8 years ago. Try It for even bigger species, mine besides bass is muskies.👍
Catching and fighting a bass from a kayak is a special and somehow more visceral experience. They pull you around, you rock back and forth, you get splashed, you are right there next to them. It is so much fun!
Nothing like kayak bass fishing. Much quieter, can get shallower, and you have better peace of mind in knowing you don't have to worry too much about engine issues or all the other tech stuff that goes hand in hand with a bassboat. Easier to paddle a kayak in than a boat if the trolling or main engine goes out because of a catastrophic error. The only reason I got a bass boat is to deal with all the boating pressure on the lakes nowadays, tried it with my kayak and was almost capsized by boaters. Now my kayak is mainly used for smaller bodies of water where boats can't get into. SO a word of advice, no your waters and use your kayak when boating pressure isn't that bad. If not you better practice your capsizing drills and ensure everything in your kayak is tied down, so when you do capsize you don't lose your gear. It will happen....
It is very interesting when you set the hook on a nice bass from a kayak how it changes the kayak’s direction. Wading in creeks is one of my favorite ways to fish because it really gives you a different perspective and helps you slow down and really enjoy God’s creation. Great video as always Edwin
Welcome to my world. You'll slow down when you fish and realize there are more fish shallow than you would typically find from fishing from your boat. Plus you'll find areas of a lake that open up to you because you can go places in it you can't in a boat.
I went kayak fishing after fishing the weekend series from my boat and just as you said you feel as if your on the water with them. Don't do like me and think you can fill your kayak with everything you carryon the nitro.i did that and it wasn't as fun until I downsized lures and rods and then I fell in love with kayak fishing. Keep it simple and get back to the basics of fishing. Thanks for sharing and God Bless
I am fairly new to freshwater bass fishing and this is an amazing video here it is mostly striped bass and huge smallmouth like 8 pounds sometimes I am starting to get some largies here i would love to make a video about it if I could catch some first lol 😂 first I need to be old enough to drive lol 😂
Love that you got a kayak! I am a kayak angler myself, so it will be great to see future videos with you in kayaks and see if your advice or tips change or get more geared towards kayak angling.
I love Edwin’s energy and excitement he still gets when catching fish. That’s what fishing and life are all about. This channel is quickly becoming one of my favorite. I look forward to more kayak content and of course the instructional vids
Curious to know if your kayak will change the minds of the kayak tournament coordinators? Most all kayak tournament rules prohibit all trolling motors or small outboards. Edwin, come and fish an OKA event next season in Oklahoma if trolling motors are allowed. 7-8 tournaments every year.
If you ever want to come out and compete we have a club Oklahoma Kayak Anglers or just have someone to tag along with you in some great kayak lakes let me know I can put you on em.
Quick tip, when standing, you can actually use your rod and lure to make minor heading adjustments. This is especially useful when fishing lures with lots of drag (spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, etc). Dip your rod tip and make a couple strokes to adjust where you are pointing prior to making your cast so you don't end up out of position halfway through the retrieve. Tight lines, Edwin!
Hey Edwin do you have any advice for a power wheelchair user? I pretty much use all the equipment that most people fish with except I've never used a spinning rod. Thanks for any advice you can offer!
Congrats on your new kayak I'm happy for you I hope you get some big bass out of it I enjoyed the video I'm just hoping to try to get it kayak to fish out of this winter sometime I don't have a boat at all but I watch your videos everyday thanks for all the info you put out ànd keep it up
What should I NAME my kayak?? Let me know your suggestions below 👇👇

Kayak TOURNAMENTS would be really great content and a lot of fun to watch!!! Just a suggestion. 😎😎
You and kade need to do a fishing video in your kayaks :)
after watching this video I think I may go get the same boat . It's so cool seeing a experienced pro like you get so excited about the 133x . I hope you continue to make videos in this boat .
Picking mine up today. Can't wait to try it out.

Really enjoy kayak fishing. My net is an invaluable tool on my kayak.

....should do a tournament event....
Nice video. I do recommend getting a floating net with a short handle. They have them on Amazon for like 25 bucks with rubber netting. Works perfectly
Nice.

Of Course Adrian! Thanks For Watching!

You need to try a few tournaments and give Ike a run for his money! Lol
You’re going to get addicted in the spring site fishing, you can really sneak up on them
You’ll need a power pole or other device for when that wind kicks up.
Name it the catcher!! Thanks for the video and I love how excited u get on every fish u catch. Keep having fun is the name of the game
Thanks For Watching Johnnie!
I think you should name it the stalker
I have the same rig. Power drive and a garmin instead, but I love it!!
Just watched this. I got this kayak just last April myself. One thing I did to mine that I like a lot is I put a swivel on my seat. I can sit sideways or turn the seat around and fish off the back. Just a thought.

Thanks James! and Thanks for Watching!

Saving my pennies up for the 133x.
The petite z.! Wondering how well it paddles. Seems like it is more suited to having the trolling motor be the primary source of movement.
Pretty cool to see more pros fish out of a kayak. 🙌
I love how excited you get catching fish. Truly shows how much you love bass fishing. Keep up your awesome videos.
Thanks Charles! I appreciate it!

Hey Edwin, what is you podcast called? I heard Tyler talk about it on the uncut he posted
Nice outing on the “Butt Bomb”, pretty nice fish you were hauling in! 👍👍👍
Looks like a blast!

That’s awesome Edwin getting back to the basics, and the true love of fishing, it’s truly amazing watching the joy you show when you catch a fish. 🙏
Thanks Tommy, I appreciate it!
You got spotlock and eyes in the water. I wouldn’t deck it out anymore than that. Enjoy the simplicity (compared to the glitter boat) and the new experience.
Need a Micro powerpole.
Watch out your nitro may start collecting dust in the garage.lol Got hooked on kayak fishing 8 years ago. Try It for even bigger species, mine besides bass is muskies.👍
You should have some of your MLF buddies out for a kayak tournament.
Wait til u put a 6hp torquedo electric motor on back, gonna have to go w lithium batteries tho cause it's 48v but looks fun!!
I believe the kayak will be in the back of the truck at some MLF events for your off days.
Catching and fighting a bass from a kayak is a special and somehow more visceral experience. They pull you around, you rock back and forth, you get splashed, you are right there next to them. It is so much fun!

I have a yak attack bazooka tube and stand it straight up so when I net my fish I have a place to shove my rod into while I deal with the fish.
I know I'm a little late on this video but nice job on the kayak fishing by the way nice kayak.
Call it the Native! As in Native pecans!
Welcome to my world. You'll slow down when you fish and realize there are more fish shallow than you would typically find from fishing from your boat. Plus you'll find areas of a lake that open up to you because you can go places in it you can't in a boat.
Edwin does bass pro sell that model ,it looks awesome

Agree 100 percent.
Could you bolt your foot controller for the trolling motor down to the deck?
Nice kayak! What type of battery is running your trolling motor? How long does the battery last?
Lookin fwd to more kayak content... how does that vessel paddle? I looks really big and difficult to paddle
Awesome video. Welcome to the kayak world. My son and me probably catch more fish from our kayaks than we do the bass boat. Love them
Thanks for there review. I know you love it but what some things you don’t like about it or kayak fishing?
What's the cost getting it rigged ?? Looks great and stable as you said you can get super shallow 👍 Looks great 👍
I am fairly new to freshwater bass fishing and this is an amazing video here it is mostly striped bass and huge smallmouth like 8 pounds sometimes I am starting to get some largies here i would love to make a video about it if I could catch some first lol 😂 first I need to be old enough to drive lol 😂

E! Is that your “new” pond at your house you are fishing?

I have never been kayak fishing. But you make it look fun. Fishing from it seems pretty easy. Thanks Edwin love the videos.
Kayak fishing is the best. The stillness is amazing.
Super cool! Seeing this makes me want to buy one. How much money all in for a setup just like yours?
Thanks for the channel. Great stuff!
If you ever want to come out and compete we have a club Oklahoma Kayak Anglers or just have someone to tag along with you in some great kayak lakes let me know I can put you on em.

I thought of another name for your kayak. "Tuesday" named after the love of your life.
I didn’t see any of those Flukemaster net ninja skills. Did he not teach you that last week?
Hey Edwin do you have any advice for a power wheelchair user? I pretty much use all the equipment that most people fish with except I've never used a spinning rod. Thanks for any advice you can offer!
My first year fishing from a kayak. Something special about it. Being able to go where the big boats can't is the best part.
Lol, trolling motor with spotlock. Way to rough it! Just messing around thanks for all your videos
Thanks for Watching!
How long do u think the battery will last using only ur trolling motor to move you around on the water?
Heck yea brother !! You slimed that yak up good for the first time. Looks awesome on the water too !! 👍
Congrats on your new kayak I'm happy for you I hope you get some big bass out of it I enjoyed the video I'm just hoping to try to get it kayak to fish out of this winter sometime I don't have a boat at all but I watch your videos everyday thanks for all the info you put out ànd keep it up
