Here we are at Laura's Farm Stand, in Innisfil, On, so we can get a pumpkin to carve for Halloween. I'm so excited! Let's see what we can find. There are so many great pumpkins here; I don't even know where to start. Ok, let's just walk around and see what we can find. Come on!
What about this pumpkin? What's that? Oh yeah, it's green. Pumpkins aren't supposed to be green; they're supposed to be orange. I guess we should keep looking. What about this pumpkin? It's orange. Yeah, you're right; it's a little small to carve. There's got to be something around here. How about this one. This pumpkin's big, orange and round so we can carve a face on it. Yeah, I think we found one. Ok, let's go back and start carving!
Wasn't that so much fun! I LOVE walking around looking at pumpkin to see if we can find the right one. Now that we have a pumpkin, the first step is to cut a hole in the top and take out all the seeds and guts and stuff. So, to do this, I'll take my knife. First of all, knives are not toys, they can be very dangerous, and you should never touch one. Always let an adult or a grown-up do the cutting for you. But since I'm an adult, I can handle this, so let's get started. There we go; the top is now cut off. That was certainly a tough pumpkin. Now that the top is off, we can start taking out the guts and seeds. I'll do that now. There, look, it's all cleaned out.
The next step is to take my marker and draw a face on the pumpkin. What kind of face should we draw? a scary face or a nice face? Well, Halloween is supposed to be scary, but I don't like scary so let's draw a nice face. I'll start with the eyes. Let's make the eyes triangles. No reason, just because triangles are good shapes. Now that the eyes are drawn let's draw a nose and then a mouth. Now that we've drawn out the face let's cut them out. Remember to let an adult do the cutting. You can tell them what to cut, though. Yeah, you can supervise, which is just as much fun, without all the work. I'll start with the eyes, then the nose, then the mouth.
Now that it's all cut out, there's only one more step to do, that's to paint the pumpkin teal. I'm painting the pumpkin teal as part of the Teal Pumpkin Project. It's a great cause, and we do it at our house. It means that if you have allergies and see a teal pumpkin, you don't have to worry about the items being handed out affecting your condition. I don't have teal paint, though. Do you know what colours make teal? Yeah, blue and green. I'll start by pouring my blue paint, and then I'll pour my green. Now all I have to do is mix them. Look, teal paint! Now let's paint our pumpkin. Thank you for taking the time to view my video.
