We've been living a "hybrid" RV Lifestyle for a while now. My secret is as MANY duplicates in the rig as possible. Toothbrushes, coffee pot, instant pot, etc. To get ready to head out now, all we have to do is add clothes, food, and pets. That's it! We can literally be on the road in less than 1 hour this way. Best wishes and congrats on all your life changes in the past few months!
Great tip! As we are getting settled, I keep getting new stuff for the house and taking the old out to the RV. Hoping to work up to having all duplicates in the RV. It adds up so fast! But we have two months before we head out again so we should be ok. It's a lot of work!
Oh my.... Dorothy !!! Perfect. Love you guys. This lady is HUGE.
Congratulations on your new rig. I know I don’t know y’all personally but are so proud of y’all for accomplishing so much at such a young age. May God Bless y’all and keep y’all safe.
Thank you so much!! It feels nice to hear that. :)
We are fulltimers in a Cyclone since 2016. Suggestion, cover your sofa, more than likely it will start peeling, bonded vinyl and it is not covered by warranty. We removed our sofa and replaced with 2 recliners, but then we are just 2 adults living in our Cyclone. You will definitely need to weigh and check your weight as the traveling capacity is not the same as TT's. We love our Cyclone and we have it just the way we like it. Enjoy your new home on wheels!
Thank you - great tips. As for the weight... we had an ultralite travel trailer before. This is a huge upgrade in capacity. But we do plan to weigh it to make sure. :)
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome! So happy for you guys. Dorothy and Ruby - I love that! Here’s to makin’ more memories! 😊
From Fairbanks, Alaska USA
Awesome folks, your adventures should prove to be a little better, God willing!
You probably have found this out by now, but, as a Trucker for many years, there's one thing we try NEVER to do; backing in on the blind side! I will drive extra miles, and circle around, to back in on the driver's side. Not worth taking a short cut and then damaging your equipment and worse someone else's equipment!
Pleasant dreams...
Great advice! We are hoping to get our back up camera installed really soon!!
Big Congratulations on your new home on 6 wheels. The truck and camper look sharp together. If you get some cameras on it you will be able to see better especially behind you and it helps for backing up on the blindside. Glad Chloe was smiling in the end.
Thank you! Yes we plan to get backup and side cameras in the future. :)
Smart of you to buy the dually. You’ll master trailering it around in short order. You’ll be amazed how stable that truck combo works. Congratulations on the new rig!
Hope so. Gets a little easier each time.
KYD says swing wide! I LOVE IT! Oh wow! Rubies and Dorothy! Sweet! I think your explanation along with continuing your journeys is wonderful!
Thank you!! We are pretty excited. :)
Congrats. The water leak could just be your freshwater vent, or you could have a leak in a fixture or fitting. Either way it would be good to get that checked just to be sure. Sometimes just pulling the bottom cover you can tell by checking if the insulation is wet.
So good to know. Thanks!
Bobby Combs in Mesa was a night and day difference from dealing with camping world when bought our 2nd trailer this past May. Everyone there was awesome. I hope you guys had the same experience.
Fun fact that I saw while watching Expedition Unknown last night about the Ruby red slippers that were stolen from the Judy Garland Museum in Grad Rapids, MN. They mentioned that the slippers were originally supposed to be silver, however techocolor was a new thing at the time and red would allow them to showcase the new color film technology.
That's wild!
Just watch the tail swing******** beautiful new home
Thank you! Yep - swing wide!
What a great upgrade! Love the meaning both behind Wendy and Dorothy! Such perfect names with great meanings! We've had our travel trailer for 7.5 years, and have been full-timing for 2.5... and she still doesn't have a name LOL
Thank you! We are kind of cheesy about naming things. We still don't have a name for our Jeep because nothing fits right. Someday! haha
Boy what a upgrade from Wendy. You are going to have so much fun figuring everything out. The kids are going to enjoy it very much. Triple axel John? Whew! Your truck won’t have any problems pulling that. Love it.
Thank you! We are super excited!
One thing I have seen with people starting new with a 5th wheel is the forget to drop the tailgate when they hook and unhook. It's a new adventure but you will love it. I had a Jayco just like it and I loved it. You don't have to open the slides to be in the kitchen area. Love your new rig.
Good to note! We love that we can access everything when the slides are closed. It's going to make quick overnights on the go much easier.
Nice rig. We purchased a 36' 5th wheel first and upgraded to 42' in 9 months. So much more room for that King size bed! Congratulations.
Congrats on the new setup! Looking forward to your new learnings and continued adventures in upcoming videos!!
Thank you!
Slide toppers are a must with that rig.
Congrats on the toy hauler. Dorthy is the perfect name. And so is Ruby. Have fun with them. Safe travels.
Thank you. Getting a red truck sure worked out! haha.
Great that he can stretch out!!!
Being with the boys to harass them is fun! So fun watching your kids, after our 4 have gone on to adulthood!
They loved the bunk house on our TT. (2 girls & 2boys)
I am very happy for you all. I have a fifth wheel trailer that I live in. One thing I found to be helpful I went to home Depot bought some 2X6 treated boards and had them cut quite a few 12 in blocks that I keep in the back of my pickup. They will help you on leveling. I use a number of blocks under my extension levelers so that I don't have to extend them very far, it's more stable that way then running your stanchions out a long distance. That's worked for me quite well.
CONGRATS on the New Truck, and HUGE Trailer! God's Speed!
Thank you so much!
CONGRATS to ALL OF YOU!!! Such awesome parents to take your kids on such wonderful lifetime adventures. If my dad were alive today I'd hook him up the same way........
Love from TEXAS!!!!!
Thank you so much for the kind words 🥰
Really nice rig im sure after using it a bit it will feel just like Windy
Yep. Just got to get out there. :)
Oh my word! The names are awesome! Wizard of Oz is my favorite movie of all time!
It's so good. And growing up it was especially a hit in our house as we lived in Kansas.
a couplke of things to do when pulling the 5th wheel. i use blue bearing grease ( starbrite or lucus)waterproof on the slide, and silicone spray on the kingpin locking, since you have a large overhang off the rear axle of the toyhauler, a simple thing to do, install 6" or 8" neophane roller wheels ( harbor freight) fixed on the rear of the trailer, this will help with the rolling off the dips or exiting from a driveway . or when you get more experience learn to exit / enter drive way in a angle so you dont hit the rear of the trailer. also remember to place the extra car, m/c or what ever your putting in the garage, move it as far forward as you can to not have it hanging off the rear axle to much.60% should be in the front of the garage when storing items there, if it to far back , the toyhauler when driving down the road will fish-tail causing an accident. next thing to buy is a tranfer tank ?your main is 36 gal if diesel, the transfer tank should min80 gal thats 1 1/2 ratio to the main tank , and never go pass the 1/8 of a tank or you will suck air instead of fuel bad on the pump, new diesel pumps are around 1500.00 and 35 hrs labor if not on warranty? hope that helps you and the family. enjoy!!!
Thank you for all the tips as we feel like we are newbies all over again! Good idea on the wheels - it's something we considered on Wendy but we just never got to it. The transfer tank is something we might consider if we plan to do huge hauls. As for the garage - it will only be used for a bedroom. Unless John convinces me he needs to get a bike named Toto. haha!
@@NoOrdinaryPath if its toto dont forget the basket on the handlebars??? if you do plan on getting the transfer tank , things to remember, say you buy a 100 gal tank, yes its going to weigh more on the truck BUT, you cannot top it off, must be at less 5 to 10 % less for the vapors on the tank, now your at 90 gals, when installing the tank like mine, i have to outlets on the pump, on top of the pump i have a tee for separating the hose and the main tank , on the passenger side is the main hose that is for filling up 5 gal . jugs for the genarator , and the other side the fuel runs in to the tank under the truck, and a switch inside the cab, when im driving and the fuel gets to 1/4 tank i flip the switch and the pump , which is 15 gals per min flow, starts pumping into the tank filling up the tank, i stop at 3/4 tank mark and uisually its pretty close to full again. remember also to to install 2 each 1 for each side of the pump a brass switch off switch with a lock holder on it, ordered it from home depot online, , the filler side is a 1" braided covered hose,, running down back side of the transfer tank down under the truck to the main tank , i removed the main tank, drilled a 1" hole on top of the tank, with a backing nut holding the hose fitting in place, mine is very close to fuel pump opening so i could hold the nut and tighten it tight, i know this a lot of information, and maybe yournot into doing , what i did, instead run the straight line , use the nozzle at the rest area and fill up, , you will still need to install the locking valve so no one steals your fuel. and get a locking diesel cap ?
I haven't looked at all of your comments and you probably already noticed this but heat in the garages on the toyhaulers is very hard to come by so you will have to figure out a way to put a space heater out there whether via solar or electric, I know you guys boondock a lot but I know you also have resources. And congratulations to all I love the cyclones we did not buy one but we looked at one of them in our journey to buying our new one we purchased an Alliance valor 40v13. Congratulations 🎉 🎉 🥳🥳
Good point. Maybe they can add a small gas or diesel park heater. Nice thing about toy haulers is that they do usually have a rear gas tank. Those small heaters put out a lot of heat for very little fuel and little to no draw on the battery and are great for Boondocking. They make them for gas/petrol and diesel and work the same. Just a very small motor and gas pump and a controller. The China ones are about $200 on Amazon.
Good to know about the heat. They were cold that first night but we haven't had a chance to really get settled in it yet. Congrats on the Alliance - we have heard great things about them.
Congratulations on your new rig.I have a
4200 Cyclone.. to let you know on ours the heater only can be set by the one in the living room. Be safe in your travels
Good to know. That's how we got it working that night. There is also something called a heat strip that we don't know anything about yet.
@@NoOrdinaryPath
What we do is put an
Electric heater in the garage part.on a toyhaler in the garage
There is no insulation
In the floor. Do to fact
That there are 2 fuel tanks back there.on our trailer our under
Belly is enclosed up to the garage.the garage is all open.
This is something to think about down the
Road.we put Jack's
On the back of trailer the ones that you crank down by hand
An we put a tripod up
Front. When you are in the front bedroom you will not feel the people in the back of the trailer as much.
OMG We are going to watch your video later together but I took a sneak peek and it has a freaking bathtub!!!! We love watching you guys because you are probably the most relatable on RUclips and you survived a Travel Trailer for a super long time! That earns you guys a ton of respect and we hope to be able to follow your footsteps someday! For now we will enjoy our 1 year old Travel Trailer that made our journey possible! Please don't tell my wife I watched this video 🤣
Haha! Thank you so much. Yes the bathtub is something Chloe and I are super excited about. I mean I can fit my thighs in and that's about it but still. haha. Too funny about not telling your wife.
Hey guys I love the name of the Rig, looks like you guys had so much fun already! We would love to meet up again next time your heading to boondock!
For sure!! We still need to make it out to Apache Junction!
My husband said Great Job parking it John, you did a fantastic job because he knows how very hard they are!! Congratulations, so happy for you all!! Can't wait to see your new adventures in your new rig, we absolutely loved that one as well!!
Congrats. You'll definitely love the extra room, and how it toes compared to the bumper pull!!!!
For sure!
That must feel like a castle. The kitchen area is gorgeous. Congrats and enjoy!!
It does! We baked cupcakes the first night just to get to use the oven. haha
Congratulations of the awesome new rig. Dorothy and Ruby are great names. My Own red Truck was named “Mac” by the Grand children
Thank you! Aw that is a sweet name too.
Welcome to the Heartland family. Y’all made a great choice in 5th wheels. Congratulations. My wife and I have full timed in our 2011 Cyclone HD 3950 (41’ 2”) since 2013. You did right by buying one used, it’s got the bugs worked out of it by now. If you notice the corners on your front cap are at an angle. Heartland calls this ‘80 degree corners.’ They shave the corners off so this trailer can be pulled easily with a short bed truck. I pull our behemoth with a 2010 Dodge Ram dually short bed with the Megacab. Though I have a sliding 5th wheel, I’ve never had to slide it. Your longbed set up will tow beautifully. We sometimes travel with our camping group and when the ones with motorhomes are fighting the winds with control issues, my dually and trailer are straight as an arrow going down the road in about 35 mph winds. On concrete or asphalt, make as wide a turn as possible as the triple axel is hard on tires. Tight turns will start scrubbing the tires, usually the 3rd axel, as those tires usually have the least amount of weight and will hop and drag thru the turn. It’s not a pretty sight when you see the tires at an angle, but I’ve never popped the bead yet on any tire. Remember your heights. Your trailer is as tall as ours and I’m about 13’ 3” from the ground to the highest point on the roof which is an a/c unit. But for margin of error, I am 13’ 6”. tall. Stay away from low hanging tree limbs as they will tear your rubber roof. On that note, happy trails and safe travels to all of you, and maybe, we’ll see y’all on the road. We are currently holed up in Lake Havasu City, AZ., also house hunting.
!Congratulations!!! So happy for y'all. I've followed your journey from the beginning. Love the new rig and the names are supper fun. Glad everything worked out for the house also. Be safe.
Thanks so much!!
Welcome to the adventure Dorthy and Ruby!!
How awesome!! Such a bump up in space and amenities too. While our kids are grown, we are enjoying our class A. We have been full time for about 6 months but due to hurricane Ida damaging our townhome we are delayed in hitting the road. There is now some light at the end of the tunnel, just hoping it is a train.. 😜. Congrats!!
Thank you! I'm sorry to hear about the damage but I'm glad your're on the tail end of it
Not sure if anyone has told you yet, but your side mirrors should pull out. That way you can see down the side of rig, and tire location on your turns. 🤙🏼
Sad to see Wendy go, but the new trailer looks great! Congrats!
Congratulations & good luck with the new rig, love the reason for the new name, enjoy your not so "ordinary" future!!
Thank you so much!
Congrats on the new rig! What a great layout!!! I’ve never seen the booth dining WITH a party couch. I can’t imagine how different it is going from a TT to a Toy Hauler. We noticed a different when we went from a 5th wheel to a Toy Hauler. Was your fresh water valve slightly open when you first took it out? The other cause can be the overflow drain. If our tank is totally full, and we have a turn with a bank, it’ll splash out the overflow. We have the 3 thermostats in our rig for the 3 separate a/c’s. The thermostat in the main living area is the only one that controls the furnace, though. We usually put a portable heater in the garage to keep it toasty at night, too. Overall, look like you guys had a great shake-down trip.
Congrats! We are currently living in our cyclone 3950 with 3 kids and and dogs! We are also in AZ a little more south than you guys. Y’all should come down it would be cool to hang out and camp together!
I know it's not cheap but a very good investment, get yourself a TST TPMS system for those 12 wheels. You don't need to crawl around to check them, just turn on the display a few minutes before you leave and it will pick them all up in about 10 min. You will need to wire up and mount the repeater. I mounted ours under the front lip of the Solitude and it works very well. I like the flow through sensors as you can add air through them but you need metal stems to use them.
of FOR SURE! That was one of the first things John said too.
What a BEAUTIFUL Rig!!! Even though I am partial to the Cummins engine I did on a Duramax once and I think your red truck is just beautiful and I really like your choice of fifth-wheel. I can't wait for the next video. :-)
Thank you. We really liked our Cummins too but so far so good with Ruby. :)
What a perfect name!! Congrats y’all, God has surely blessed you this year already!
Thank you!
Excellent Choice!!!!!
Thank you!
Congrats to you all, UT I think k I would have e even shaking in my boots signing paperwork for a mortgage and then the rig! Good thing your young!
Dorothy is beautiful and I love the red truck. Happy camping...
Thank you!
How awesome!! Love the new rig & truck guys. Congratulations!
Congratulations team NOP!!! it was great to see you all back out boondocking in that great spot! Brett and I hope to make it back that way before everyone moves on. ♥️
Thank you!! We would love to hang again. :)
It looks great! I miss seeing you at SMMC John. I’m so glad your family are able to have so many great experiences. Memories are what keeps you going after retirement.
My biggest concern in my toy hauler is dragging the landing gear/levelers if I were to take it off road!!! Been doing mostly "glamping" since I upgraded!
Congrats on the new rig and truck. We also named our RV Dorothy from wizard of oz, and we have a black suv that we tow behind her that we named Toto.
Aww! Love it!
Congrats on the new rig. You'll find most toy haulers the rear heat ducting doesn't work well and its good to have some supplemental heat back there or in the event of boondocking, we use a rechargeable fan in the doorway to blow more heat back there. We have also insulated the floor a bit more back there with 1/2" foam fatigue mats which really helped out.
Congratulations!
Well deserved. Working hard to buld a life and accomplishing your dreams. Good luck to all of you
Thanks so much! That means a lot. :)
Love the name. Congrats. It's always a rough start to new things. But it comes with practice.
Thank you! Practice Practice Practice! It's a nice excuse to get out of the house. :)
Congratulations!! I recently visited Phoenix. It was warm enough for me in Feb, I can't imagine the summer heat there! Hopefully you'll have a summer contract someplace cooler!
Thank you! Yes we plan to be way north this summer. : )
Went from windy to a full out cyclone. Enjoy your new rig. she is a beast for sure.
Love the names.
Right?! Love it!
I want a rig like this but im scared to take something this big to places ive never been. I have tons of experience towing 10-25 trailers but those fifth wheels look intimidating in tight spots. Excited to see the new content and hear your opinions!
I am so happy for you. Enjoy
Congratulations, you guys! We are so proud of your accomplishments! Excellent choice of 5th wheel and pull vehicle (Merica! 💪🤙)..
Thanks so much!!
"The cheese is on point." Love it!
haha! Thank you. I'm just cheesy by nature.
congrats guys on the next chapter of your lives stay blessed
Cool rig. Congratulations!! Cheers
Congrats guys I felt the same way 8 years ago when I got my cdl the trailers were 48' now there 57' it gets easy as you go
Dorthy and ruby are perfect names
Congratulations! She looks like she will be a great living space for your family!
Thank you. I think so too!
Good video. Thank you. Blessings
Thanks for watching!
Love the new rig and the name is perfect. Congratulations 🎊
Thanks so much!!
Congrats on the new rig to go with a nice truck. Happy Camping
Thanks! Will do!
Dorothy and ruby are looking mighty fine! Can’t wait to see where u head next… Adirondack mountains as you head to northern maine maybe!!!
That sounds lovely!!! We are shooting for Great Lakes area somewhere or Maine. Both places we have yet to visit.
Awe congrats you guys!! So happy for your family and can’t wait to see what’s next! New house, new Jeep, new truck, AND a new 5th wheel!! Y’all are bougie now lol 🤗
Haha! You know it. (Not really) but we do feel a bit fancy now.
I felt your anxiety trying to beat the daylight
Right?! We were like - no stopping. No dinner out. Just get home!! haha
Oooooooohhhh snap.. ik you guys are busy af making awesome content. Ik you made a video of thigs you wish you knew before starting travel nursing. Idk if you have a video about things that you think all should nurses should know or things they dont tell you in nursing school. If you have made this all ready id really appreciate a link. Thank you!! Keep making your own path.
Congratulations on your new toy hauler I have a much smaller one and very happy with it for I'm only one person but your whole family will enjoy that one with the ramp that comes down and ask in the party deck also you will enjoy
Thank you! Yes - we are so excited for the deck area.
Your truck has mirrors that pull out so you can see around the trailer.
We went from a 24 ft travel trailer to a 45 ft cyclone 4220 and it is huge. We haven’t towed it yet so there’s definitely some nerves involved. Good luck and enjoy your new space!
You basically doubled! That is awesome!
Yay!! Congratulations!! How exciting!!
Thank you!
So excited for you and your new toy hauler. I can't wait to see your new adventures. I love the name, perfect for you.
Thanks so much!! We are pretty excited to get out adventuring again.
Love the name, good job guys!!! Xoxoxo
So happy for you guys!
Love the name you chose. Dorothy
I the past year we also went from a TT to a 5th wheel
Love the new rig. I first saw that style of trailer a few years ago and I was a fan. I know the kids will love the extra space and all the new memories to come. I look forward to seeing y'all back on the road again. I am sure you know Ruby's mirrors will pull in and out for when your hooked to Dorthy. The new truck and trailer look great together. Congratulations
Thank you!! We didn't know on our first trip but discovered it later. 🥰
The dripping is the excess water in the tank splashing out of the breather as it sloshes around.
You all plan well and your choices are very good. Have a great time enjoy your house and camper !!!
Thank you! That means a lot to us. We thought long and hard on all that went down and are so happy with everything.
Your life philosophy is so spot on. Love that you put so much into naming things. You both and the kids are adorable. Always enjoy following along with you!! And.... Congrats on all your accomplishments.
Thank you! We need to name our Jeep too but nothing has fit just right yet. That's the downside. It has to really mean something. haha. Thanks for following!
When Chloe got emotional awww.. My kids would prefer to be in the same sleeping space too btw!
Yeah she misses Wendy. But once we get her space in Dorothy made up she'll be happier. She's having a tough time with the separate bedrooms in the house. The boys, however, love it.
Congratulations you guys nice looking out fit safe travels from Rick and Pam from southern Ohio at Big Bear Creek family campground
Thank you!!!
Congratulations guys, so very happy for your family👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🤗❤️
Thank you so much!! We are excited to get back on the road soon.
Wow! Exciting and congrats!
Thank you! We're pretty excited
Congrats on the new 5th. Beautiful. Soooo happy for you guys after the hell you have been thur with nursing during Covid. Daughter and her husband both in nursing and respiratory therapy here in ct, so I know what you have been dealing with. God bless and happy travels ahead!
Thank you so much! We are so looking forward to getting back out on the road again.
Perfect name Congratulations it beautiful
Love your videos! This is so awesome! Congrats on Dorothy and ruby 😁love that you name them. I’ve learned so much from your videos, we are also planning out our adventure to live in a toy hauler. Hope to see you out there!
Congrats! Nice, well at least you have the right truck for the job.
For sure!
Yay! Love the name. ❤️
Thank you! We do too.
Congratulations so happy for you
Thank you!!
Congratulations! And Dorthey is a great name as long as Ruby.
Thank you!
Congrats on your new home, I cannot be happier for your family 🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️ safe travels and most of all have fun 🤩
Thank you so much!
