+Jonny Stugotts It's not too late. They still put out great albums and tour. I got a chance to see them the last two years, never did see them during their prime, and they were incredible! Great sound and energy. Of course some great songs definitely help. One of the most underrated groups of all-time in my opinion. Do yourself a favor and check them out next time they're in your neck of the woods. You will not be disappointed.
Brilliant performance by the Fixx: perfect singing along with brilliant drumming and guitar playing. That 80's keyboard sound is so unique and cool. Thanks for posting this wonder.
Wow, the Fixx at the top of their game for sure. This almost sounds like the studio version of this song. I remember seeing the Fixx in Daytona one spring break. They had come to Daytona during spring break a couple of different years from what I remember. I lived in Daytona Beach from 1968 to 1984. I had a fantastic time in my youth in Daytona. It was such a great place to grow up. I wouldn't have changed it for nothing. I was so fortunate to have parents who moved to Florida when I was only 2 years old.
I was backstage! Yes, my Grandfather was a contractor, his construction company built 5 themed hotels and was best friends with Sol Cohen, owner of the Plaza Hotel. His son Allen gave me all access 3 years in a row. I made friends with and started my rock n roll photography career, by getting pictures of The Fixx, A Flock of Seagulls, Thompson Twins, Modern English, Til Tuesday, even Pauly Shore was runnin around, MTV put Spring Break Daytona Beach on the map, and we made millions in the 80's. My Grandaddy and I designed and built the club 701 South in the Texan for the Cohens, "my club" was the hub, that was Daytona. Watch "Spring Broke" through TMCeHD if you wanna know the rest.
Eternally meaningful song... "I'm cooking with microwaves, to warm my food that's not seen the soil, plugged into my TV. I'm used to the lies they're telling me."
@@markmadison4281 The song is about the environment, which affects you whether you have a million dollars or one dollar. Cy has admitted in interviews that the song applies to him as well.
I was at this concert! Spring break my sophomore year. I found out that the Fixx were giving a free concert on the beach, just a couple of hotels down from where I was staying and I was pumped!! Vixxen opened up for them ... those chicks were crazy! This vid brings back memories. Sadly, one of the guys I was with who worked our way up to the front row for this passed away a few years ago. Great song -- great band -- great memories.
I love the Fixx, but Summer ‘89 belonged to one band and one band only: The Cure - The Prayer Tour. I would suggest the Fixx could have had Summer 1990, but that belonged to Depeche Mode’s World Violation Tour. There was quite a creative explosion happening in those years from many greats- even bands outside my wheelhouse like Metallica and GnR. Bands like NIN, Ministry, Pearl Jam, Nirvana and a metric ton of single word UK bands like Ride, Lush, Oasis Verve… were all waiting in the wings. It was a great time to be a music fan.
I was at THAT SHOW, line up was Vixen, The Fixx and Cheap Trick. All 3 band played well, and the Fixx killed it as they did in 2019 in Orlando at The Social...
Plugged into my TV I'm used to the lies they're telling me I hope it comes, it comes, it comes around I'm hoping that we find, More to life than meets the eye Can we escape the grind, Build a life that's more worthwhile Rid of this empty pride, Full of selfishness inside Bathe in a turning tide, Until then we all hide We all hide I hope it comes, it comes, it comes around
Del album Calm animals, mi favorita de the fixx, se escucha impresionante similar en vivo. Ese cassette lo consegui hasta 1993 porque era muy difiicil encontrar esta musica en mexico en esos dias
And they've only got better every year... amazing catalogue of quality material, brilliant live performances, so much talent still intact since original conception. Must see whenever they play!
Great song, one of many I missed although I was a fan from the start. Realizing via UT Cy actually played guitar, didn't know!! A rocker/songwriter/singer to the core! Still out there so I'm getting myself to one of their gigs.
I've been a HUGE fan since they came out (and playing guitar waaaay earlier than that), and this is the first I've seen (or known) that Cy also played guitar-at least live. Doing a great job here, too, helping both flesh out and drive the song. That's the amazing thing with these guys: they ALWAYS play for the SONG, not for personal showboating. OMG, they should've been HUGE, being criminally overlooked in general since the '80s. SO great they're still together and touring, hopefully recording a new album soon, too. (Totally Trivia: Amazed to see Jamie playing a Levinson Blade Classic "Strat" here. I've owned one since back around this live date myself. Cool!)

This band and the Cars are without question the greatest two bands of all time.

More to life than meets the eye
Can we escape the grind,
Build a life that's more worthwhile
Rid of this empty pride,
Full of selfishness inside
Bathe in a turning tide,
Until then we all hide
We all hide
I hope it comes, it comes, it comes around

Tight as hell for a live performance. Actually prefer this to the studio version. And, the 12 string Rickenbacker was a bonus for me.👍

Not used to seeing Cy Curnin play guitar while he sings. Looks like he's going for the Kurt Cobain hair look here!
Cy had this hair in the mid 80's when Kurt was a child, so if anything Kurt was going for the Cy look.
