Great tips for new guys in WW2 reenacting. The weapons safety every reenactor will happily do! Read ,read, and read get books will help alot! 100% agree with you.
Thank you! I needed a refresher on the topic! It’s been a year since I was actively researching World War Two reenacting! And what a weird coincidence… I think I may be joining into your regiment! I’m joining the first division 16th infantry regiment company a!
Thank you man!! I really appreciate everything you do brother and love what your doing on the channel!!! Keep it up man!!!! I have got to make my way North one day and go camping with you!!! There is only a small window here to camp before it gets too hot and overrun with rattlesnakes, mosquitoes and ticks....one of the disadvantages to being near the beach.
@@HistorySavior1941 you also said the leggings go over the service shoes well.... no they went over the roughout boot. The service shoe was with your dress uniform
@@HistorySavior1941 with the leggings yea haha I messed up and bought marine leggings but there fine for now until I get army ones I'll go to vendors at reenactments and find army leggings not marine ones
@@HistorySavior1941 you didnt specify the different types of suspension in the liner because ww2 suspension is kahki, korean war is the same pattern as the ww2 ones but has green suspension, and Vietnam liners are green suspension and a different style suspension
Do not also forget 10th Mountain leggings for ski troops. And depending on where you look you can find unissued USGI Double buckle boots. I bought a unissued pair of Size 15 boots for under $70 with original Goodyear soles.
I have an original M-1 Springfield but the barrel has been shot out. Been wanting to have it rebarreled. Along with the rifle I also have original belt, cartridge , Carlise pouch, M28 haversack, canteens with carriers, bayonet and mess gear dated 1943 or earlier. My grandfather was in the 30th ID 117th IR rank of SSgt. He carried a M3 grease gun
I do have 2 WWII M1 helmets from McCord with original WWII liners one is a 1942 dated McCord FB to SB conversion done during the war Heat lot number 126D and a late was rear seam SB McCord Heat lot number 999D and the liners are FireStone and Seaman Paper Co.

I am actually a member of two groups. 9th SS/29th ID and then we just organized our own group of the 1st ID which is all built of police or other first responders. But yes I am out of Alabama.
@@HistorySavior1941 That's awesome! I got started in WW2 reenacting in 2003 with a unit portraying the 506th PIR, but they quickly disbanded after my first event before I could get my impression together. All the drama made me hesitant to continue with the hobby. Now, Im looking to get back into collecting US/German items and maybe attend the occasional reenactment. Are there any living history groups in Alabama, including ya'll, that have a Facebook group?
There are some. If you email me at historysavior1941@gmail.com we can exchange contact info and your welcome to fall in with us anytime. I have some extra gear if you need any loaner stuff.
I'm interested in getting involved in World War II Reenactments For the ranks Is it like JROTC Where you have to earn them Or can just put whatever rank you want
You most definitely have to earn rank. When you start out, you move up the ladder over the years. Even awards are earned for different things. For myself, I have been in the hobby for a long time and still usually wear just a private rank. The most I have ever wore was a buck sergeant. I hate wearing rank or awards. In the upcoming event we have, I am portraying a 1st Lt. only because I am the overall US commander and that is as high as I would go in rank just because I hate portraying an officer and never want to really. I will tell you what. I will make a video talking about what some good hints are for getting into the hobby and some do’s and dont’s for new reenactors. I am not a reenacting expert or claim to be. In this hobby you constantly learn. The learning never stops. Just come in with an open mind and the willingness to work in research and keep learning and growing. Also, I am not going to lie and tell you it is easy or cheap. It is nether of those things. However, it is extremely fun and it puts you in the situation where you can fully immerse yourself in certain situations that these men endured. There is no other hobby like it.
so a commercial for at the front..... I like ATF bcuz have you seen the absolutely disgusting wwiiimpressions prices. well I'll tell you that I'm still waiting for them to restock the 1st pattern HBTs. I asked last year he says we'll get them next year. well.....here we are.....wtf now
Sadly I do agree with your statements. At The Front has some quality stuff and some lack which is the same I think for every company. Some things other guy do better than others. Unfortunately, the WWII Impression prices on some things are pricey and SM Wholesale is the same. However you do get better quality in paying more for some items. I have been waiting for them to also restock several items that have been out for awhile. Some items they actually have but sizes have been out forever. I agree with what you are saying in short.
Hey man! This video is now my bible for getting together my basic kit to start reenacting. I did have a question about a website called TopPots. Have you ever heard of them / have experience with their helmets? They sell an entire catalog of reproductions, restorations, etc. - and I wanted to know if they're reputable. Anyways, you've earned a subscription from me - and maybe someday we'll meet on the field.
Sorry this comment got lost in the RUclips feed. Not getting notifications like I should do I apologize. Yes! Top Pots is very good and I recommend them especially for helmets. However while I do love Too Pots I recommend JM Murray for helmets. They are pricey but the best and you can get refurbished originals. My main go to helmet is actually from JM Murray. Thank you for watching and for the subscribe. It means a lot! Sorry again for the late reply.

Enjoyed watching your video, great for beginners to learn. Personally I prefer a Tanker jacket to a M41, but it depends what your unit wants.
Exactly I love the tanker jackets but with what I portray I just go with the traditional M41.

Dude that is one heck of a deal!!!! I don’t get into ski troops too much but I do need to.
Size 15? WOW that’s a big shoe. Especially for the time period.

Only US rifle I own is a 1943 Smith Corona 1903A3 though. M1 Garand is too rich for my blood right now My 03A3 only cost me $500.
Not a bad price at all for an 03A3. I have one as well but still partial to my garand lol!

Stamped trigger guards are correct for ‘44 onwards
@palkappy8581 didn't know that back then lol
My original pair of trousers have suspender buttons on the inside actually and since I'm a small guy imma get a pair of suspenders
Could you cover late war reenacting gear? Example: m43
Yes that will be a future video for sure. Definitely some variations that need to be explained clearly for that as well.

Depends…that is kind of a complicated question. Some things will and some will not for late war (1945). Anything earlier, I would say no.
