One of the best seasons by Tottenhams average standards. 21 goals and 4 assists by the same standards Walcott had 14 goals and 10 assists in the same season. Henry had 24 goals and 20 assists in one season. Bale was overated and bailed out by his pace and power and as soopn as he lost a bit of that he struggled to leave Madrids bench.

I wish that I could Back to the Future him in this era and beg him to never leave the Premier League. I only have a limited amount of time for games and only could watch him on big Champions League nights. He could have been the Beckham, Gerrard, Rooney, Shearer, Henry, etc of Tottenham lore.

Thing is, this isn't even prime Bale. He really hit his prime at Real Madrid. His time at Tottenham put him in the shop window. At Real, he went toe to toe with Ronaldo, and didn't come up short. Phenomenal talent!

Those two last seasons for Tottenham were unbelievable. You knew every week there’d be a wonder goal. I thought he had perfected shooting outside the box to a new level.
Playing with Ronaldo curbed it all I reckon.

The fact that Real Madrid’s primary physician/medical director said that Bale is the most athletic/physically gifted player he’s ever seen… insane
This is important because a lot of players have the technical skills/knowledge of the ball, but are limited by their physical athleticism. But not Bale
A rare combination of player where his body had the ability to keep up with and execute everything his brain wanted to do with the ball, and that’s what made him so dangerous in my opinion

We all talk about the injury rollercoaster career of R9, Ronaldinho got lazy, Van Basten's early retirement because of injuries. Things that could have been. I dare to say that Bale is up there. I was so impressed by his explosiveness and speed for a guy his size during his prime. You know those type of players you just know has that special talent where you don't need to tell them what to do, they just do it like Ronaldo, Messi, Iniesta, Zidane in their prime. Bale was one of those.
