Footnote: Despite mentioning that this was his debut novel, it was actually his fifth novel. His first two novels, which were more literary, were "Marriages" and "Under Venus," which were followed by his first two horror novels, "Julia" and "You Could See Me Now." Thank you to the commentor for his clarification and we apologize for the mistake.

Fun reviews; I enjoyed hearing the different perspectives. Quick correction, Ghost Story is not Straub's debut novel. It's his fifth. His first two, Marriages (1973) and Under Venus (1974) were not horror, but straightforward literary. After those, he tried out horror with Julia (1975) and If You Could See Me Now (1977). Then his big breakthrough fifth novel, Ghost Story (1979).
