I have the same roll cage cover surrounding my track. What I did to eliminate the tearing and make resting more comfortable was to add a size smaller roll cage over the track sides. Then apply a larger roll cage over that. I used very short finishing nails on the first cage roll to keep it from moving. When I applied the larger cage roll over the nailed section it did not budge one bit.

Nice work on the driver's stations and wiring! I struggled with making the connections to the track. Even with a damp towel under the track I was still melting the plastic when using heavy wire for connections. I found an old spot-welder at work, and I can now weld 0.005" thick stainless steel tabs to the bottom of the rails and make connections from there. It is a bit more fragile than a soldered connection, but it does a lot less damage to the rail. If you look at the factory terminal tracks, that is how they are connected.
Your plans for the room and pit lane sound great! My setup needs to be removed fairly frequently, so I siliconed the track to a sheet of 1" extruded polystyrene foam. Whatever gets you to the fun is what counts!
Is your track cover a poly-cotton blend? If so, be careful removing it in dry weather. You could generate enough static electricity to zap a lap counter system.
    Great Videos!!!!

Tab: Try to use 20-22 Gauge wire, took a lot of practice and patience. Going to do jumpers here in a little bit and mdf board. Thanks for the heads up on the track cover.

Hey Kevin, Enjoyed the video very much, Want to build a 4 lane afx/tomy Track.Using a separate wallwart for each lane. Can that be done easily. Also using the stock 2 wire controllers for now, TY

John C did that till I bought a large power supply. All I did was run 4 terminal tracks. One controller and one power pack per lane. Thanks for watching and thanks for the question.

Quick question to all slot car lovers. I’ve made a very cheap 1/24 scale wood drag strip track. I’ve wired two plugs off of switches in quad boxes for controllers which gives power to 12volt power packs that are adjustable with voltage output. That I got at local Walmart. Issue I’m having is the 20 dollar packs keep messing up and stop working. What’s a way I can wire up my track cheap. How does the car battery thing work?
