Wow truly enjoyed the trip down memory lane. Volunteer candy striper at st Mary’s as a kid . Lived on Essex avenue across from the stack. Walked to st venantious elementary . Remembering the smell of baked bread every night from Zizza’s bakery. Going to many funerals at Ippolitto’s funeral home. The Mt Carmel Feast was the best time every and pinning dollar bills on the statue as it was marched through the streets . Watching the guys compete climbing the greased pole. Do they still hold the feast there? It was a great life growing up in Orange in the 60’s & 70’s.
I was born in Orange memorial Hospital and Baptized in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in this exact video depicted. This is my hood. Lincoln Ave and Scotland road and Mechanic Street orange NJ.
Orange has scarred me for life. I caught my first beating in the Mount Carmel parking lot during the feast. The kind of stuff that media does not expose.
My hometown. This video shows only the area around the long-abandoned Orange Memorial Hospital. There is some new condo construction, very near to the NJ Transit station (fast trip into Manhattan). I haven't lived in Orange since 1970.... still love the place!
Those projects used to be 108 projects the same Buildings Tupac step brother khadafi got shot in after he came back to Jersey when PAC died. Orange has so much history these people don’t even know. I bet most people didn’t even know Orange had a section called little Italy. Right on Lincoln Ave. Damn how much things have changed. You used to not even be able to walk in those areas with out living there.
The Gulf gas station that was on the corner of South Essex and Freeway Drive was my families. Family business from 1951-2015 The guy we sold it to made it into a Delta.
@@ericktwelve11 it takes some Jedi mind tricks to turn what I said, to what you commented , into Italians verse Blacks. I hope you can free your mind or heart of that hate🙏 Black people aren't the reason for poverty. They're not the reason there's crimes in these neighborhoods. And without the crime it's still poverty. When your " Italians " lived there, the houses were new. It was a different time. I can't believe you made this racial😂. Funny, but sad too. More so sad.
I love my hometown 🍊NJ
Also 9:54 those buildings used to be the projects all bricks

Just popped into my head. Imagine staying in St. Mary's when it was a hospital and seeing that funeral home😅😂
Update: When I went in passing by Orange Memorial Hospital, some of the rebar on part of the roof is failing and part of the roof caved in.
