Can’t wait to see it done! My grandpa had one when I was a kid, and the table in the dinette was a map of the US. Always dreamed of taking it across the country. Sure sad he sold it. Someday..
That cab on that thing is classically gorgeous. It deserves the updates and the honor it's receiving. Good job, guys. That single axle Kenworth and trailer are pretty mouth watering too. Nice!
I have a set of 2009 single wheel 1 ton axels out of a super duty ford 4x4 and 5 spare tires and rimms mounted aired up .make great rollers. Plus hub caps for your camper upgrade $1300.00 in central Texas.
My parents had a 1972 20' Explorer motor home that we took around North America on trips. It had a 1 ton dodge chassis and a 318 with a 2 barrel carb and 4:56 gears in the rear end. My old man would never let me put a set of rv headers on it or an aluminum 4 barrel intake or any Mopar direct connection parts. There was no a/c and it wasn't insulated that well. The 3 way refrigerator and the stove and oven worked perfect. It never got stuck and was pretty handy at a boat ramp being 20' long with good side mirrors for launching or rehooking up a boat. There is an ad on craigslist for 1 of the Ford conversion campers around Chicago, it runs but the interior is gutted.
This is going to be awesome ! Selfishly i hope you show all the details to get that 7.3 installed because that is something i would really like to do some day, but probably to my 79 since my 72 only has 33k on it but maybe...
In 1977 my parents had a camper special F350 with a Red Dale on it. That spool-out light was a junkyard secret that was published in one of the automotive magazines of the day. It came out of a 60’s Cadillac if I remember correctly, but maybe some other luxury marquee of the day.
I used to own one when i worked road construction. It was awesome. The heat and a/c were separate units, so at the end of a long hot day, i thought ahesd and left the a/c on but forgot to turn the furnace off. I was out of propane and hot water to shower. The black water tank was all it had, and it was smaller than the fresh water tank. Soooo. The black water would come up onto your feet in the shower when full. The gas mileage was well BAD. Cool old camper, though.
Cant wait for this series! My only question is why not go with a 7.3 idi turbo? They are simpler then a 7.3 ps right? I swapped my 76 f350 cab onto a 85 chassis that had a remain 7.3 idi and all i had to hook up to run it was 1 power wire to the pump. Plus the 7.3 idi doesnt use the HUEY system that ive heard causes issuses. Just curious is all either way its going to be a sweet build
The 7.3 IDI is simpler yes but very limited on power and also little aftermarket support. The IDI is a good engine if you understand those limitations. The requirements of this build excised what an IDI could deliver reliably.
Save the fe390 and 4spd manual transmission for other projects especially since the 390 is not all that common unless you buy a 360fe everyone has a 390 truck lol
When you get that original 50000 mile 390 C6 powertrain pulled out just send that over to my place if you don't mind... :)
Amazing rig. 7.3 will be awesome !!

That's a sweet truck but do do like the single axle KW.

Where do I get parts to 41st swap my 71 f350 flatbed
I like the 390 better but atleast your doing a 7.3 swap instead of a stupid cumins swap. I'll watch this build series

They always have a 390 when it’s for sale 🤣
