Absolutely fantastic build Leif, I can't believe you've been keeping this terrain building talent a secret all this time. Can't wait to see more. Thanks.
I just found your channel and is an awesome surprise for me !!!! I like seeing your videos with my daugther, she is 6 yo and she loves hand crafts. Now we are making trees XD. Thanks so much from Spain
Hi Jesus LG! First off, welcome to the channel! I love to hear from my viewers and especially when I happen to have inspired in some way! Thank you for taking the time to write the comment! It warms my heart and keeps me going! Thank you! 💙💛💙 or should I say "muchos gracias" 😉
This was a fantastic build. I definately would love to see you do more of this along with the other stuff you do. Wonderfully brilliant!! Keep up the good work!!
There is no way this is your first terrain build! This is too good! Thr only suggestion I can give you is maybe adding a bit of that green airbrush patina to the base of the main statue to show the moss starting to cover it; right now it still gives me the idea that's a separate piece.
Haha! No that's true! I think I said the first proper terrain build on the channel. I have been doing a bit of terrain in the past! Thanks for the feedback and comment! :)
What an awesome job! I like that you stated up front that you drew some designs, but tweaked them as you went along. Using a rock to massage the foam into a more realistic way was a great idea. The water coming out of the spouts was awesome. I would definitely love to get into terrain building once I get better at painting and eventually start basing (I have most of what I need). As for the subjects of future videos, do whatever makes you “spark joy”, be they mini painting or terrain sculpting. Don’t feel pressured to put out one every week, if the videos are turning into much bigger projects; I can’t imagine how long it actually takes to carve/fashion/glue/paint pieces of foam. I hope all is well and that you stay safe.
Aw thanks Ronald! That is awesome to hear man! I will try to keep up the pace but yeah it is a lot since I also have a full-time employment and a family so yeah busy times! :D
Beautiful! Love it! Did you consider removing the round base for the top dwarf statue as it basically had a square base on the top of the pillar? Watching the video I can see it work both with and without that. But again tiny details. Great work and love the colors, Moria feel, water, pipes, ... - awesome!
Thank you so much Niklas! Yes I did consider it but then I would have needed to remove the small "base" that the miniature had between it's legs...wow...that can be misinterpreted! :D What I mean is that there was some small amount of "ground" between the feet and it looked bad without a base so I went with the round one! :) Thanks again for watching the video and for the nice comment man! 💙💛
Oof, I'm very late to the party. So this is the start of the amazing terrain tutorials, excellent! I really would like to know the process around the bricks, or are they basically the same as the stone pillar stones, just a bit smaller? Are they also XPS foam or another kind of foam? They look a bit like those package peanuts, but I guess they're not the same material?
Yeah I think this might be the first one I did in front of the camera yeah! Yes Wickermoon, it is XPS foam bricks. The dimensions I use is 10x5x5mm! 👍😊
Excellent job, Leif! Were you inspired by Tabletop Work Shop's Dwarven Pillars? I made a set, and they came out wonderfully! The milling with the Proxxon was a little tricksy, but worth the effort. Craft On!!
After some google-fu I will have to say NO....and yes sort of! :) I have never seen the video until now but he seems to build them inspired by the pillars in the Moria scene and so was I so we had the same source of inspiration! :D Thank you Kurt for commenting! :D
So there were precut BUT generally I try to take a 28mm mini and just gauge the approximate size for larger bricks. Usually large brick or perhaps blocks look fine at that point but these should not be confused with the "modern size" of a brick.
Just discovered your channel. Watching this vid now. What about using Floral Foam blocks? I know they seem the really take sculpting. Maybe a little too easily but what are your thoughts on it?
Welcome to the channel Alex! Floral foam is way too brittle I would think. Also I think it creates a lot of dust so I would be careful but try it out with a mask! 👍💙💛💙
Thank you Matt! After some checking in old emails I figured out that I got them through ebay and from a seller called: "miniaturegamercouk"! Hope that helps!
Great job! I would definitely enjoy seeing a sneak peek behind the scenes of making the material. With Mordheim as a creative inspiration, any chance we see some of the skavin side of the house as well? Looking forward to the batch of videos and now that you have worked your way through some iconic dragons, will the giants be coming soon?
Hey Blake! Fair enough! I will share the plans then! Yeah I think I really like the grittier style of fantasy so Mordheim comes easily as an inspiration! We'll see if Skaven makes an apprearence but I wouldn't be surprised cause I like them rats :D Regarding the Giants, I have only a few Giants so I will paint those in the months to come! Also, let's not forget the Metallic Dragons. ;)
Would it be difficult to build the golden throne from the emperor has a text to speech device. Lets say out of foam board and straws maybe some toothpick and some skulls....i bet you could make a bad ass one.
@@DevsDice from looking at the pictures online their are few clean images. You could always improvise and do a ziggurat of small size and remove the front face and then kinda model what you see.
My first proper terrain build is a fact! I loved the process and I hope that you like the result! 🤘💙💛💙
Absolutely fantastic build Leif, I can't believe you've been keeping this terrain building talent a secret all this time. Can't wait to see more. Thanks.
Glad to hear it Shawn! Also thanks for that excellent tutorial on how to remove the paper from foam core! Thanks as always for the nice comment!
@@DevsDice most welcome mate, I'm glad you found it helpful. I'm going to steal some of these ideas by the way, really creative build.
Of course mate! Steal-a-way! :D
You know I love me some dwarf builds, this build would be great on any gaming table and I would like to see more MORE I TELLS YA MORE.
Haha! Thanks Nate! Yeah there will be more of these I suspect! ;)
Now you're taking!! Dwarves and my favorite PC race. IVALDI himself would be proud! Awesome Leif 👌
Haha! Thank you so much John! I am glad you liked it! :D
@@DevsDice I didn't like it. I loved it!!💪👍

A job well done. Thank you for sharing your creativity and though process.
Thank you for watching it and telling me so dear Earl! :D
Incredible terrain crafting project! You make it look easy, but the craftsmanship and care you put into it are obvious. Great video!

Really nicely done.
Thank you so much Thomas! 👍😀
Looks great my only critique would be maybe throw a green wash on the water spraying out to match the rest of the algae crusted fountain.
Thanks Ron! I might go back and try that! Thank you kindly! :)
Cracking stuff!
Thank you kindly! More of these terrain things are coming! ;)
Leif awesome work mate 👍🏻
Thank you so much Paul! That one was the first real terrain I did on the channel - but a lot more to come this year! :)
Nice job. I enjoyed this a lot.
