I got one of these last year, with a small cosmetic problem. It had a broken front handrail. I got it cheap at my local necessary evil hobby store. I say that because they seem to sell model trains that all have issues. Anyway, it is a great model. I contacted Intermountain and they replaced the broken parts free of charge. Great company. Did you ever do a review on a Broadway Limited ES44AC? I have one of those as well and it is quite impressive.
These are really great units...and glad to hear Intermountain took care of you. I think Intermountain knocked it out of the park with these and I was looking forward to their Dash 9's. I hope they get back to releasing products again. I never bought an Broadway Limited version. I would have to get a non sound one if I did because I'm not a fan of their Paragon sound.
@@DGModelworks Thanks. They are a great company. I can't seem to find a Scale Trains version at a reasonable price. Just out of curiosity, why do you not like Broadway Limited paragon sound?
Thx for the review brother, I have some intermountain locos I bought some years ago but seeing your review I've seen that intermountain has stepped up their game, I'm thinking about the NS and BNSF next
OMG!! That sucker is SMOOOOTH!! 😎 Intermountain has REALLY stepped up it's game. Looks like they're now going after big game. I'm sure that you're very happy that it's that good!! I still remember ALL of the problems you had with the SD40-2 you got from them, a couple of years ago. That was junk compared to this one! *Almost* makes me think about going current day!! 😵 Get some black paint and cover those wires! Problem solved. Now, I can't even *dream* of getting any new loco...... but that shouldn't be forever. 25 OUNCES!!?? That should easily handle 100 cars. Seriously! Now that they're getting better, I'm really hoping that they're planning at least one or two early 70's EMD, GP28, GP10, GP11, SD10 or SD20 (most of those being rebuilt 1st Gen power), or GE, U-Boat or Dash-7 locos.... I actually contacted Fox Valley a couple of years back. I liked their models. Later I found out that you can have anything you want from them - as long as it's a GP60!! HO or N! 😨 I'm glad this was a good experience for you. Carmine 🚂
All that sucker needs is some Magnalock air hose, and now the new MU Cable - in 3 different colors and lengths!! They're really improved over the first version. The magnets are smaller, look better, and work flawlessly! Some nice guy got me a 10 pack. I highly recommend them!
Deryk, Thanks for the excellent review! Your NS locomotive look terrific! I have a BNSF and UP unit on order and can't wait to get them. After watching several videos, yours in particular, I'm sure I will be equally pleased and impressed with these Intermountain locos. Thanks again...Fred
that is great loco. and sounds like you are super happy with it. I have a CN unit, got it about 2 weeks ago, still in the box. no time yet to take a good look at it. but this review seems to be a perfect count, or as close to perfect as they come. nice to see a video from you my friend.

Take care my friend, hope all is well with you! ~Deryk

These things can really pull. I have a friend at a model railroad club who brought ONE of these, along with somewhere around 65 hopper cars, and it pulled them no problem. Everything was going well, until he came to “the hill”... Great review, as always.
You are alive still! Good to see you doing videos again! Man, if you're impressed with them, maybe I'll buy myself one? I'm glad Intermountain stepped up their game and made you a believer in them again! Roy

I will have to say, Intermountain redeemed themselves with this locomotive. I'm VERY impressed with it. Who knows, maybe I just got lucky for once and received a good one. LOL ~Deryk
I'm glad to see they have improved. The great sound from the locomotive is not all because of the speaker it can also be where they put it and how they made the sound box including or excluding the shell.
I work shuttle van for CSX, the only things, that I see missing, is the walkway, and step lights, should be a light above the 2nd access step, (all 4 of them) and light above the back of cab step (engineers door) and a light above the center of the cab trucks.. and put a light behind the body that glow 4 or 5 little rectangle at the top right of the brake wheel, for the automatic Loco tiedown. They are LED lights on the real locos. that would make these perfect...
Best review thus far on this unit. I will wait to see if scale trains can top this. Intermountain just might have a customer. The test will be who can pull more freight. I love trains that can pull . Thanks bud
