Kinda the same experience here, got into a Christian band by accident and then after that got into alt and Twenty Øne Pilots. Became punk later down the road and here I am listening to my first ever Pennywise song

Such a sick video: buddy just rippin the perfect line all around town like its his daily routine. Used to love playing skate games and doing "realistic lines" where I'd try and keep it within the lines of reality that somebody really good at skating might actually accomplish lol. The Skate games later on were great for that realism.

In 1999/2000 we use to hangout and skate all over the city. I had a small portable deck tape with some batteries (btw batteries in that time wall expensive and used to run fasssst) that we use to play this, satanic surfers, punk-o-rama vol. 3 and Bad Religion.
All day long skating and playing on our band with my friends. Oh such good memories.
Time goes by just like the wind... Sounds like yesterday. Life took me all over the world, but somehow everytime I listen this, or Millencolin I just fill like it was yesterday... I can even imagine we playing these songs in some parallel reality with our "super band"...
The dilema between being somewhere and our soul wants to be in some other place at other time.
Cheers to our true friends in life.

I haven't stopped listening to them since I first heard them! I was 13 and I'm going on 32 now. pennywise and skateboarding for life!!
At first i thought they were just a bad religion clone but they have so much charm.
Can't remember who, maybe it was Jim's, but in a book by one of band members/the band it is revealed their heavy inspiration is from Descendents, explains why Pennywise is so goddamned great and even catchy at times.
I just assume that all punk bands of that time were influenced by the decendents! They were like the template of a generation.

Every time I hear his song I think of playing top skater and then how many good little sessions I had with my friends. Miss those times and miss skateboarding. Skateboarding and punks not dead everyone’s just looking in the wrong spots.

This shit was gospel when it came out and I was 12-13. To us “Oakland/Bay Area” punks, it showed us a glimpse into SoCal life. Which is where I ended up for a minute. San Diego/PB/MB/OB had their own scene. Much love to those who helped me love the soil where I’m from, but showed me a different home. No matter where I go, I end up back in West Oakland. So I guess I’m here to stay now.🤷♂️
