Man I love your tone. I wish you made a tutorial on how to get to this perfect mix? How to eq and compress etc. I know most of it comes from your magical fingers.
Thanks so much! It's pretty much 'what you see is what you get'. I'm hoping that helps to get this tone. I show in my other video 'Work to do' the effect of EQ and compression and that's minimal. In this case I did have to crank the mids a little, cause I at first thought I was going to use the direct signal so the microphone signal ended up a bit muffled.
Watched your Pack It Up video when my band learned that song. Now I see your new video is People Say, which we also play. Love your tastes! Enjoying your TrueFire course as well!
again a great video! Awesome playing and the sound is very close to the original! Please keep on producing this kind of videos. It's very inspiring! Thank you very much!
I’ve bought the same pickup to my custom shop p bass with a single coil and the Kloppmann PB55 pickup is really really great. Aging on my one is sick and doesn’t look faked. Highly recommended to swap your pickup on Kloppmann. I also heard a lot of cool staff about split coils. Jasper, congrats with the upgrade and thanks for the video. Sounds cool as always 🤩
It wasn't really meant as an upgrade and it does sound pretty similar (I compared it directly to old recordings). But it feels really steady / solid / more even. Takes a while to make up my mind with these kind of things, but so far I'm really happy.
Ha ha, that's really the cheapest thing ever. I do think it's pretty ugly, but I need it. Even if you only play just over the pickup. I'm to close to the strings without it (closer than with the splitcoil Pbass and with the Jbass).
Thanks! So funny people ask about the rest. It's just a small piece of wood found in my barn painted white. I did make it a bit thinner where it runs over the pickguard and I did drill an extra hole, so that's not for everybody I guess.
Nice groove! You really captured the feel of the original-tight playing and great tone! 🔥👏
Thanks! Thanks again for the great pick-up. A nightmare in the making ended up with a happy ending. Tschüss!

Great job! Lovely tone and feel. I like the thumbrest solution!

Great video as always Jasper. I really enjoyed it. I love The Meters!
Where did you get the thumbrest by the way? Or did you make it yourself?
