I play with my personally designed cue, the M1A1-XT, 30” butt with radial pin.
Came out in 2015 and discontinued in 2023.
Has my Bank Rail Angle Calculator and Winning Ball Winning System design on the butt handle.
    It’s awesome.

Incredibly helpful, love the passion in your teaching method. I don't know of any instructors in my area so I'm self teaching myself fundamentals on RUclips and your content is extremely valuable. Thanks, DI!

Never heard that explanation of quantitative speeds of shots. Beautiful.

This is interesting and I think the general concept of "the fuller you hit, more energy lost by cue ball, harder you need to hit to achieve X position" is useful. I also think gaining a feel for different shot speeds is useful and I like the idea of pre-stroking at/near the speed youll be shooting.
But I don't think its practical to be trying to do these types of calculations in a game scenario. Firstly because most people don't get to spend a ton of time practicing on the specific table theyll be playing the game on, whether its league or tournament. So whatever feel for speed you develop will yield different results table to table.
Second, because any amount of follow, draw, or sidespin will change the outcome significantly for the same shot speed.
Combine this with the pressure of an in game scenario, and I think you will get overwhelmed quickly. Maybe its useful to double check yourself if you're really unsure about shot speed. But there's no way that top level players are thinking about this consciously.
Hitting a million balls and developing a feel is more appealing to me personally.

👏 😊bravo 🎉.. loving this and can’t wait to work it into my pre drill. Speed control has been a wild card for me. Yet with this video now I have a start and finish. Thank you sir! 🫡

Great approach and I will work on it. But there is a bit of an unknown factor like spin effect on the cushion. Hitting 2 cushions without spin will eat up approx. 15-25% energy of the cue ball. Whereas running english will increase speed at the cushion and inside english will reduce speed. But overall this approach is a fantastic base to learn speed control. The cushion effect comes with experience

Hi Michael, to the points of your questions, NO, NO, NO, and NO.
While other teachers may say whatever they want based on who knows what… The Drill Instructor Way is quantifiably certain.
Are there other ways to learn how to control cue ball speed and position control? Yes.
    Are they quantifiable?
    Pretty much, No.
    Pre Stroke Equals
Shot Stroke is the single way that I know absolutely works.
Unless otherwise restricted, one bridging length, a level cue, predictable cue ball speed, a pre-determined amount of object ball hit, plus any cushions hit will always equate to knowing where the cue ball will finish.
    Thanks for asking.

i"m a new player and this really hit me nicely about cue ball speed and energy absorption of 2 objects. I can also now calculate my lag distance and win them much more often ! loll. Thanks

Hey Dominic, do you recommend varying the length of your stroke and not your bridge. So keeping your bridge length just say 12 inches and then adjusting the length of the backstroke to coincide with the shot speed. So for a 3 speed maybe you only bring the cue back a third of the way and for a 9 speed you bring it back all the way.

Bernard, thanks for your participation. Now, we’re all listening. Teach us your quantifiable and repeatable methodology for cue ball speed and position control?
I’ve proved for decades through thousands of players what I’m teaching is quantifiable and repeatable as The Drill Instructor Way.
Tell us what you’ve contributed to how many other players so that we can all learn from the Bernard Dover Way?
    We’re all waiting.

      Thanks for the sub!
My cue is the M1A1- XT
      Designed by me.
      But the market in 2015.
      Retired in 2022.
I may design something in the future.
My Shaft, Jump, and Break Cues are exceptional.
The newest designs will be out within the next couple months.
      The ZDPT Technology is amazing.
Big hit with wood shafts and in carbon fiber now for the past few years.
Please wait a bit to learn about the newest designs coming soon.
      Thanks and Good Bless

Did you try using your shokz for your microphone. You currently have an echo with your mic in the distance.

Wot about if u shot the CB between those speeds? Between 1 and 2 or 2 and 3?
Another thing, different tables got different cloth, slower or faster and the rails can be speedy or not... just my 2 cents..

I like your enthusiasm, but think hitting a lot of balls is more interesting and overall a better approach for becoming a good player. I’ve taught pool to teenagers at our senior center billiards room and wouldn’t use this method. I think they would lose interest in learning to play pool.
