  • This beautiful day we headed out to Mito City (水戸市) and Kairakuen Park (偕楽園公園) in Ibaraki prefecture. It was the 123:rd Plum Blossom Festival at Kairakuen.
I like this early spring the best of the whole year.
At the park you could enjoy, not only the Plum Blossom, but also various foods and drinks made from Plum.
The day started early. Train from Tokyo Station to Nippori Station and a switch to Joban Line which took us further norTh of Tokyo to Mito Station. It was about 2 hours 30 minutes in total and costed around 2000 yen. There are other train options as well. It is possible to walk to Kariakuen park from the station. If you do, you'll pass Senbaku Lake (千波湖). It is a very nice walk. It is likely possible to go there by bus as well.
You can find more information about Kairakuen at: ibaraki-kairak...
Mito Kōmon (水戸黄門) is one of the longest running Japanese TV dramas. The main character is the historic Tokugawa Mitsukuni, former vice-shōgun and retired second daimyō of the Mito Domain.
I truely enjoyd the Park and the Gardens and the bamboo forest. All the Plum trees in bloom, it was very nice. It was well worth the visit.

😊I was an idiot back then (I probably still am). Maybe I could have stayed in Japan if I wasn't, but now punished by having to live in Sweden...
