Hey everyone, with the postal service being at capacity, and packages experiencing major delays, I thought it would be cool to share the handmade gifts I'll be giving to my friends and family this year. All of these gifts I was able to make with crafty bits from around my house, but I also made sure that the items in the DIY could be purchased locally since ordering online could cause delays. In today's video, I share how I made a cute purikura photo booth inspired photo for my friend, upcycled a masculine scented candle into two unique candles for my brothers, (you know, gifts for HIM) created a custom kintsugi style planter pot for my grandfather, and shared my latest needle punch project: two needle punch decorative pillows for the special ladies in my life. I hope you enjoy these DIY gift ideas and they inspire you to try some crafts for yourself, or the special folks in your life.

I love the first idea. I have a bunch of printed out photos just sat in a box, so catch me decorating them for the foreseeable future.

I went into this video thinking “I suck at DIY’s but seems like a chill video.” It’s a lot of really good ideas though & I can definitely see trying some of these. I especially liked the planter idea with the gold paint.

You can actually do Kintsugi with glue & gold powder, you just need to use an epoxy resin or a specific ceramic glue. I've done it a few times & it looks lovely because the glue/gold kinda squeezes out and has a great effect :)

I made custom candles from the empties I saved this year! I mixed in some gold pigment from an old attempt at....kintsugi, lol! It swirls around in the melting wax, looks neat.

You could have totally still attached the backing after you whip stitched although it would have required a denim needle to get through the bulk of the yarn and you would have had to hem your backing fabric first to make it nice and neat :) I would definitely consider doing some more punch needle projects before making a tutorial since there’s a lot like yarn weight and bulk to consider as well as different types of monks cloth and burlap when starting a project. I’ve been making wall hangings and rugs for about a 3 years now and I’m still learning with each project :) really cool to see more people getting into it too! Love your pillows!

I’ve done kintsugi before by mixing gold eyeshadow with scotch high performance repair glue! I didn’t have any weird chemical reactions but I don’t think the result is food safe.

I used to use the rug hooks to do this and oh my god does it take forever, I used to love it but it literally took me months to make half a small rug, so I just gave up 😭. I’d love to see a hole punching tutorial though and see if that’s more my kinda thing.
