This song clearly depicted my parents life that they lived as a “lahurey” and “lahurey ko srimati” more that 40 years ago. A young man sacrificing his desires and wishes to work abroad faraway from his loved ones, and a single breadwinner to his parents and his extended family. Coming home every three years or so only to be looked down upon by the city elites while remaining a cash cow for his family. And to be tagged Lahurey all his life. And then to die before reaching old age because of the heavy burden he had to carry his whole life. Unappreciated and underrated. If only he could get his life back would he have lived differently? Would he have had enough time to spend his youthful days with his new bride?
Unless circumstances changes he would still live the same life again and again for some it was not an option we children of laure surely do undermine their struggle and hardship that they went through to give us a better future.
