This will always be my favorite Final Fantasy. The ensemble cast, the villain who won, the outstanding soundtrack (and hearing it done on the SNES chipset back then was utterly mind-blowing).... it made pretty much all of the other J-RPG's we had access to in the USA at that time seem like child's play. I'll never forget how deeply this game made me feel.
This game touched me a lot as well. And it was so ahead of its time. Even today the graphics, sound, and story hold up (even the original version). Truly a masterpiece.
It has been said by classical composers that this song (Dancing Mad) on the SNES was the musical equivalent of Uematsu painting the Sistene Chapel with crayons.
Dancing Mad was one of the greatest compositions ever made. The fact that I got to experience it as a kid in the 90s before anyone else was awesome. The Black Mages version is great too. Fully orchestrated.
This has been my favourite blind playthrough. I really enjoyed watching how much appreciate this game and all the characters. Celes and Edgar are my two favourite characters as well, but they only became my favourite characters when I got older. I liked Celes a lot more after I realized that she always viewed herself as a "replacement" -- first she was a replacement for Terra when the Empire created her to be a Magitek Knight, then she was a replacement for Maria in the opera, and finally a replacement for Rachel in Locke's mind. She was never her own person and was haunted by what she did as part of the Empire when she was mindlessly fulfilling her orders (including the butchering of Maranda). In the end she becomes satisfied with herself and being her own person, realizing that not everyone is trying to use her and that deep down she is not bad -- this is why right before battling Kefka she says "I've met someone who can accept me for who I am". Edgar is my other favourite because despite what everyone thinks, his overriding trait is his deep loyalty to his family and his people. I can't remember if you noticed this (or if you've read about it afterward) but when Edgar and Sabin flip the coin to see who becomes king and who gets to be free, Edgar uses a trick coin to guarantee Sabin his freedom. This is the same coin Celes used to trick Setzer. Edgar never wanted to be king, he and Sabin dreamed of running away, but Edgar had the stones to take over after the Empire assassinated his father. He understood his duty and allowed his brother to live the life he wanted.
Thank you for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! I really appreciated the love and care that the developers put into the characters. With such a large cast, it would be easy to throw so many of them to the wayside, but the amount of development that went into them is truly impressive.
It's not really fair for me to say this is the best Final Fantasy ever when I haven't played all the FF games, but this has been the best one I've played and my favorite game ever. I'm glad you loved it! I also have my Final Fantasy playlist to listen to whenever the mood strikes... Nobuo Uematsu is a musical genius!
congrats you finished up another one this upload was insane from the start with dialogue with kefka all the characters having their final say the choosing who to take and how to set up your party then the statues i've never seen anything like the statues they were so awesome looking and then the music holy hell the music was just so amazing during this entire episode and the final version of kefka he looked so awesome compared to how he has looked this entire game and the music for him that was such a surprise i wasn't expecting that especially considering the music you had fighting the statues the introduction to each and every character was just flawless i wasn't expecting that i was a little confused on the first couple names but it didn't take long to figure out it was everyone escaping the tower i was thinking they was showing some kind of important moment in each of their lives but that was so awesome how that was done then the introduction with and you....i seriously miss the 80's and 90's so much i remember each and every tape or cd i bought reading the insleaves and the bands thanking their families their management their recording company their endorsements and finally their fans....video games used to do the same exact thing after playing a game and watching all the credits the final thank you was to you the fans and then something changed there literally is no acknowledgement to fans anymore in anything bands and video game creators just don't even thank their fans anymore when i saw that on the screen it hit me pretty hard as to how far the world has come you might not even remember anything i just typed but that was so awesome you included that into the upload it really shows how old i've gotten 🤣 congrats once again bunny i hate it took me so long to get this watched but just like you finally playing it.....you're never late when it comes to experiencing true perfection ❤
I’m glad you finally got around to finishing this one! I couldn’t wait for you to see that final battle. I knew you’d love it. And I really loved the acknowledgement at the end, too. Whenever I see that in a game, a lot of times it makes me tear up. I am not exactly sure why. I guess it just reminds me of how much love and dedication the developers put into these games and all they want in return is for people to enjoy what they have created. It’s touching.
@@bunnytails I'm glad to hear that you can appreciate that like I said I grew up in an age when it was done all the time actually to a point it was taken for granted and when I seen that on the screen I teared up as well because I don't think I had seen it done in like 20 years of course this game is a lot older than 20 years back when it was done regularly but it was nice to see it reminded me of the times when fans were acknowledged and thanked for their dedication
I'm so glad you loved this! One of the greatest games of all time. There are still moments that make me tear up, including here at the end. Also, I love that you almost lost to Kefka because you were rocking out to Dancing Mad too hard. This soundtrack is dangerously good! Also, WOW you live close to your work! My current job is work-from-home, but the shortest commute I ever had before that was 30-40 minutes.
Same here. It's such beautiful way to end things. It also signifies hope for everyone that the nightmare with Kefka is over and they all can breath a sigh of relief.
Sorry for posting twice, but I wanted to do some analysis of Kefka. Kefka really is a tragic clown, quite similar to the Joker, but even deeper I would say. He hates everything that lives and has hopes and dreams. Kefka can't understand that, because his conscience was removed after he was artifically infused with magic. He is really sad and he knows he can't be like other people, so he tries to cope. Destroying everyone who has hope and dreams would probably make him feel better. But despite getting godly powers, he also doesn't mind dying. Another way to end his suffering and he finds it hilarious that people who have hopes and dreams could defeat such a strong, overpowered opponent. But he has no will to do anything productive, he can only destroy, so before he dies, he finds it hilarious that he was beaten and doesn't get angry or vengeful, he just accepts it.
Woot! Congrats on beating one of the best rpgs of all time. What an emotional roller coaster. The only time I was pulling my hairs out was when you were just waiting in the action menu which gives the enemies time to attack again lol. That's one of the reasons you had so many deaths. 😆 I'm glad you enjoyed the soundtrack even though this was a remastered version. So many great hits. Nobuo Uematsu did a fantastic job. Awesome blind playthrough
Come back to watch this playthrouh, as this is my favourite game for its story. My favourite part of the ending is how the whole series' theme plays during the moments when the planet and the people are restoring after Kefka's reign. Life goes on. Hope of future after depression and trauma. And Celes is my favourite, and her theme is one of my favourite songs. I like to listen it when I feel melancholic and romantic.
This game is my favorite game ever, from all plataforms I've played into.... And beat it for the first time was hard, my cartridge was paralel and had no way to save the game, So I had to keep my snes power on, had to make the trick of levelling up in the falls after the returner's hideout, pray to the power stay on, to the game not crash somehow, to not make any mistakes and it took me about 5 days in a row... I've grown so deep into the story of this game that when The bonus with the names of every character appears with the cutscenes I Sobbed, crying so hard and so joyful that I do not know what to do, if I cryed or if I laughed for being happy enough to experience the best game ever!
Im a 44 years old man. I played this game when I was 19 years old, back in 1999, and it just blew my mind and soul. I got attached to this story, and even inspired me to write my novel. Im glad a beautiful young girl like you, can apreciate this masterpiece too. It gives a smile to my face. Sorry about my english, its not the best of the best
And here we are... I'M SO HAPPY YOU LOVED IT!!! 😍 **clears throat** As you might be able to tell from my like 3,792 earlier comments, this game means a LOT to me and it's so heartwarming to see that it still has the same power today as it did all those years ago. I ❤ that after the last boss you were like "wait, no, it can't be over NOOOO!" 🤣and also ❤that you changed your outro music! I hope you'll have a blast with Live A Live too, it's not quite on the same level as FF6, but I played it with a fan translation not long after my first FF6 playthrough and I loved it too. Thanks for the amazing playthrough Bunny and have a great day 🤩😊👋
I am so happy I was able to share this with you and everyone else. Starting this RUclips channel was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It really warms my heart to hear when you guys are passionate about games, and can re-live that first experience through me. I’m so glad you were here. ❤️ And don’t worry, Sabin will get his time to shine. I need to edit that video this weekend so I can post it.
Ah man, what a finale! I forgot how great that final boss sequence and music were. Glad to see you enjoyed it as someone who had no experience with it before. It's really something else, just the kind of surreal organ/prog rock blend and the steady ascent up the boss statue to get to Kefka. And then after that, the credits sequence! Hard to top it. You turning Dancing Mad into your commute music is fantastic. Thank you for sharing this whole thing.
I just finished this game for the first time as well literally moments from when this comment was written and my god...what a fucking masterpiece. I had the same reaction as you and started clapping as the Falcon flew into the clouds and the credits started rolling. What. A. Fucking. Game. The music, the characters, Kefka, the story, and the mature themes...this game had it all.
It pleases me to know that others are discovering this game all these years later just like I did. Better late than never! Especially for a masterpiece like this.
@@bunnytails Seriously, I thought the same thing. I'm about to hop into Final Fantasy VII (the OG) because my mind can't wrap around the fact that there's another game that rivals VI, seeing as how much praise VII gets. Like...how can you top this?? It left me sad in the end because it was over but man...what a fucking journey.
It's playthroughs like this that make me think that this game would age the best if remade, even moreso than FFVII did. It's already so adult in it's themes, and I think would be fit in with how the community has matured.
A small note. This game was developed in one year time. One year, to make this game, the story, the music, all of it. Just take that into consideration as well when thinking about everything that was done in this game. Absolutely mind blowing.
They originally only planned to do the world of order, but finished it early, so then decided to add in other ideas they had and did the world of ruin. The developers also joked about how much crunch they had to finish it in time after that, and that they were often sleeping in the office a lot with their sleeping bags, working day and late into the night. Development has gotten a lot better since then and now crunch is rightly heavily frowned upon.
The difference is you got to experience this with a couple thousand friends. I got to experience it in my bedroom and then not have anyone I could talk to about it for decades. No one wanted to hear about a video game story back then. Sometimes I think of myself as some great overarching wise seer who has guided these adventurers to victory over the years. Who would I be to these game characters? The watcher? Someone whispering "go left..." in their ear as they play the game's levels? Some of the best stories I have ever heard were in video games, and I lived through the golden age of Playstation, PS2, SNES, NES, N64, Dreamcast, PC, Xbox... a collector of stories
Probably one of the greatest stories ever told with the greatest cast of characters and the greatest soundtrack ever written with the most epic and satisfying ending ever in any video game.
Just beat the original SNES version last night (again for like the 15th+ time), and now just watched this. Just impossible to not shed a tear in the ending. I still prefer the original soundtrack while playing the game, but love all the tons of remixes just to listen to it. This and Chrono Trigger. Greatest games ever made.
Thanks for putting up the entire playlist of this playthrough. FF VI is my favorite game of all time. I was playing it in 1994, so watching your entire playlist in 2023 was a nice surprise. You didn't have to do the voice acting (in modern games you don't have to, lol), but it was a really nice touch. None of us could've ever predicted RUclips existing back when this game came out, even if today it feels somewhat a part of life. I already knew where all the hidden things were, so there were no spoilers, but it was cool to have your videos playing in the background on a recent playthrough I did of FF VI. Your videos were like an updated companion piece, or voiced storybook, if you will, to the experience of this fantastic game. Anyway, I enjoyed the voice acting and the relaxed atmosphere of these videos. I would recommend your playlist to FF VI vets who would like to take in the game again in a different way, or simply want something a little extra if they're replaying FF VI for the first time in a while. Cheers.
Ma'am, how dare you make me cry again for the 4rth or 5th time. Just like in the super Metroid playthrough but this time you really got me flowing. Your horrible equipment choices, terrible battle strategies, frustrated moments, cheering on our friends through this tale I experienced as a kid, and your woman's heart really move me yet again. I'm just another lonely divorced man who needs to hear a woman's voice every day after long shifts and this month of going through this with you had been a blessing. Like I said before, play silent Hill 2. The remake is going to be out soon. Please. Take care, God bless
Using each character's unique skills is underrated. I see people use Sabin's blitzes and sometimes Cyan's Sword Techs, but rarely do I see anyone use things like Strago's Lore, Gau's Rage, Mog's Dance, etc. That and the Esper summons. They're all unbelievably useful tools, it's unfortunate that they're mostly pushed to the side in favor of a small pool of magic. If I had any advice to give people about this game, it would be to really play around and develop strategies using unique skills, buffs ,and debuffs. Celes's Runic can be incredibly effective in battles like these and unique skills are a way of getting around Celes's Runic activating on your own magic spells while still dealing good damage, buffs, and debuffs.
Sadly those seem to take a bit more work to obtain all their abilities which is a deterrent for a lot of people. Especially streamers/RUclipsrs who have timelines they are trying to meet. I’d love to do a run where I really flesh out Gau, though.
Thank you for sharing these. I've watched this entire playthrough, and it's been wonderful. I haven't seen it said anywhere on here, but I like how, whenever you ever a new area, you'd stop to listen along to the new music track. This is my favorite OST in the series!
I remember beating this game and saving the world...or what was left of it in 1997 while vacationing in Bristol, Pennsylvania from my birth and current hometown Chicago. It actually took me a whole year (of course in between school and homework) to complete it but all of my characters were above level 84 and Terra at lv. 93. Took two tries but I beat that psychotic and nihilistic pimp clown/evil angel Kefka. Good work on this!!
Congrats I can't believe I was there when this game first came out I feel sooooo old lol but even 30 years later I can honestly say that from all the final fantasies that I've played this one remains my love my favorite my golden oldie thanks for helping me relive that.
In the end Shadow decided to die right there. He completed his mission and he was satisfied. You can see Interceptor in the final scene at the airship next to Relm, but no Shadow anywhere. Shadow's backstory is very subtle but when you put the picture together it's extremly tragic. He decided a life of blocking his emotions out of guilt of what he did to his friend Baram, and I feel he views it as a penalty, he doesn't like being an emotionless machine, as the scene between him and Terra implied, and in the end he only could find confort in death, not even finding out he has a daughter could save him from his guilt. Very tragic stuff.
I find it hilarious that I barely remember much of this fight back in the 90’s due to Celes being a blender of death on my team. She had the Atma sword and an offering and a Ginji glove. She could do 80,000 damage in a single attack which basically one shots every single phase of Kefka.
😢 I bought this game when it first came out for the Super Nintendo. It was 80 dollars at KB Toy store .. I remember playing this for months and it was life changing for me. This remaster is amazing .. all the art work and music is so high definition! But they kept everything faithful to the original. Glad I got to see u play this ❤💯💯🐻
The final four part battle with Kefka may be one of the best boss battles in video game history, since any party combo is viable to win the game with. And Dancing Mad I'd argue is the BEST piece of video game music made, hands down.
I agree. I think I read somewhere that Nobuo considers it his greatest achievement, probably do to what he was able to do with it with such limited technology at the time.
Dancing Mad blew me away. I was NOT prepared. I’m a pretty big prog rock fan so it was a real treat. Can’t forget the amazing first three parts of the song, too. The whole fight was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Thanks for watching, soul!
This was my first Final Fantasy and it blew me away, and your reactions brought back a lot of those memories, so thank you! Even after beating like 20-ish other FFs I still consider this the best, and Dancing Mad might've been my gateway into Prog Rock. The "Repose" attack the man in the 3rd tier did is an instant death attack and he usually does it twice again when he dies but he didn't do that in either run you did. Usually he does it as a final "F-you" by killing 2 party members with no chance of revival so they get replaced when fighting Kefka, so maybe you got lucky, though you earned it after all the damn freezing. I might also recommend Gametrailers' FF Retrospective on this game for more appreciation.
Thank you for being here max, and I’m glad you enjoyed the playthrough! I think they changed some things in this version of the game so maybe they changed that insta-kill move. I kind of wish it was still there because it would force you to use more of your reserves, if that makes any sense?
@@bunnytails Happy to be here! Looking back on the order you had chosen (not knowing what you were getting into), if he had killed, for example, Cyan and Celes, and replaced them with Relm and Shadow, that would've made it pretty difficult to finish the game that night, so seems like it worked out! Smashing him with super buff Sabin and Setzer later was pretty fun too.
Uggghhhhh the ending fuckin broke me, haven't played this in ages but it's probably top 5 my fav games all time. It's what got me into playing piano too, this whole score is a masterpiece.
Fighting some greek statues xD Yeah, final fantasy final bosses always get a little crazy with their designs. That along with the music makes this such a memorable final boss.
I am late but I'v seen some explaining the boss but some thngs are missing : First, the first section like someone said, is a reflection of hell, but it also show off the demonic being Kefka is and has become The music reflect also the despair and malicious part of it, it is Demon. The second part is about purgatory, but also madness and destruction. The music is really showing this madness and almost feel like fiendish laughing at you. It reprent the crazyness of kefka, and his urge for destruction, Fiend. And lastly, even tough Kefka is a madman, egotistical destroyer, he still has became a god, by absorbing the real power of the warring triad (the one you fought earlier are just shadow of the true warring cause they lost their power to Kefka). This third section symbolize paradiso, and the godly power of Kefka. He is a god, a demonic god, but still like a creator and a desctructor. It also empathize what he think of himself, high, mighty, divine, like a Goddess. So each part represent a part of Kefka, of Hell/Earth/Paradise, and the Warring Triad^, but also can be compared to what Kefka is, a demon, a man, and a god. Then, last part, Kefka, here it goes full madness and power with the music and his laughter. It is the struggle to fight a god, but also a struggle for a god seing that he might lose (the melodramatic part of the song). Hope that helped ^^
On top of dancing mad being of the top tier boss battle music for video games (the battle itself isn't hard), the ending sequence to FF6 happens to be my top favorite in the franchise - the music is long and poetic and encompasses all the character theme music done so eloquently. It really felt like I was playing an opera straight out of a theater show from beginning to end. Is it me or would I have loved this game to get like a 26 episode anime series....
Since you loved Dancing Mad, just have a look at a SNES let's play and see how the different phases transition in the game. In the original there is no cut, the whole music loops until you reach another phase and transition seemlessly. In the remaster they screw this sadly (among other things, sadly). It's a port of aport of a port so for each new good things added they messed up something else in the process. That said, I'm so happy you loved this game, this is my favorite game ever.
16 main titles, all of them unique in their ways. I played nearly all when I was younger but i remember playing my first being II. To this day, it still gives me wonderment on what themes they can make a final Fantasy thrive on.
God, I love this game. I love its narrative themes. I love its characters. I love the music. I love how the 4th movement of Dancing Mad goes from a frantic, maniacal prog rock piece to a solemn, almost melancholy orchestral piece. And just as if feels like Kefka can see that the hopeless destruction he meted out against everyone and everything else is about to come full circle, in comes the laugh again: He doesn't care. He's amused by the irony that you cannot defeat him without proving his point. Square better make a FFVI Remake one day...
The world will probably never be ready for a remake of this game, but I really hope it happens. I want to see and hear Celes singing the Opera in HD. And the final battle? I am not sure I could handle it.
@@bunnytails If it one day happens, I'm hoping there'll be an Impressario sidequest in the World of Ruin to enact the Draco and Maria play again -- it basically requiring you to get the whole gang together. Starring: Locke in the role of Draco Celes in the role of Maria Edgar in the role of Ralse Also featuring: Cyan, Gau, Strago and Mog as the soldiers of the Western Rebellion and Sabin, Setzer, Shadow and Gogo as male dancers/Ralse's royal guard and Terra and Relm as female dancers Special thanks to: Umaro for handling scene transitions and curtains Sabin could be Ralse's right-hand-man and personal bodyguard... Setzer could be a dancer who tries to ask Maria for a dance but is rejected... Relm could be dancing with Shadow during the ballroom scene... and then Shadow and Strago cross swords during the battle scene, ending with Strago felling Shadow... I'm into symbolism... No wonder I love the final boss fight against Kefka so much, considering all of its allusions to Dante Alighieri's "Divine Comedy"... One could also hope that they would implement the scene they had planned to include between Strago and Shadow in the World of Ruin but that they had to scrap from the OG game for storage limitation reasons...
I forgot who said it, I think he might have been a friend or family member, but he liked FFVI's ending because it wasn't your typical "hi and bye" ending from previous titles (well FFIV and Mystic Quest at the time)
To give an idea of how we 'lost our f*cking shit" and how true that statement was - i played this game when i was like 10 years old, and it literally sparked the fire of my FF obsession. I am 37 years old and FF is and always will be my favorite game series of all time. This game is absolutely a 10/10. Glad you enjoyed it so much.
I get the nostalgia bug this time every year cause it's a cold and emotional month for me. It was so great getting to see your 1st experience of my fav game. GG and thx for appreciating the best character, Sabin💪
Unlike the last two FF6 playthroughs I tried, I did make it through the whole playlist. I'm glad you liked this game so much, and I highly recommend Xenogears 🙂
This game (and Chrono Trigger) pretty much shaped my life. That's why I am a Technical Animator in the Games industry right now. I've pretty much bought this game on every platform it released. I would dare say the Pixel Remaster is the best one among them, despite not having the GBA extra content. The things that makes this game special: - there kinda isn't a main character (even tho, some characters are given more depth and spotlight than others). - Each character is unique and well written, different players will naturally gravitate to a character that resonates with them (for me its Shadow) - Each character has unique skills, but at the same time, you get to customize their magic skillset how you see fit. - Kefka is a rare instance of a villain that not only you hate, and want to take down so bad - he actually won the game. You're just getting back at him for doing so. - The story itself is well put together, and it makes use of the whole world (both versions) where it doesnt feel too grindy and repetitive. (I couldnt say the same for Horizon or Ghost of Tsushima, despite those being good games) - (EDIT) Of course, it goes without saying - the soundrack 2024 says hi. Found your video, because i just finished playing it on the switch. And now im doing another run with mods on PC.
This is great. You did really well. It's easy to cheese grinding to 99 in dinosaur forest and decking everyone out with Ultima a spell or gengi Glove+Master Scroll, but this was done right for a first playthrough and enjoying a decent challenge the way it was meant to be played. Still my favorite game and epic ending.
If they made another remaster with full sized character sprites in the battles, I'd play this one more time. Even if there was no other change. I always thought that's all this game needed.
imo the height of square soft, after that it got more hit and miss, but some of it former magic was gone...so much nostalgia watching you play, I played this as a kid only understanding half of the story but I loved it and it shaped my interest for fiction and fantasy - ty for the playthrough :)
If you liked Dancing Mad, I highly recommend "Prancing Dad" by Prince of Darkness. It's effectively Dancing Mad and One Winged Angel wrapped together in one of the most amazing Symphonic metal experiences I've heard.
So this game did blow my mind when it came out in 1994. I love that at the floating continent, the villains win, and the heroes lose. The world actually effectively ends, and the heroes are scattered, and it takes a year before they start to pick up the pieces and find each other and find the strength to try again. I also wanted to point out something that may have been lost - you’d heard of Kefka. You didn’t know details, but you knew he was the villain. Now imagine coming into it totally blind - and he’s a lackey; a joke character. “*AHEM* There’s SAND on my SHOES!” HE’s essentially Ultros. It made it that much more shocking when he killed the big bad - Gestahl - and then destroyed the world and became a god. I love him; he’s one of my favorite villains. Also, just because didn’t see it mentioned, or hear it discussed - Shadow is Relm’s father. There are a number of clues. He winds up injured in Thamasa. We see him leave Thamasa, and Interceptor comes with him. Interceptor normally hates people - but likes Relm. I believe if Shadow dies on the Floating Continent, Relm gets Interceptor in battle. They’re the only two who can wear the Memorial? ring, which she starts with, that mentions something about a mother’s love. Anyways; I’m sure someone must have told you somewhere, but if not…. Yeah. :-p
You know, I never really imagined anyone playing this game not already knowing that Kefka is the main bad because these days he's so infamous as a villain it's almost impossible not to know about it. But you're right, back then you would never know! And he really does start out as this bumbling comic-relief lackey; you'd probably imagine he stays in that role for the whole game. Man, you guys really had it made being able to experience this completely blind like that.
so now you'll know if you'll replay this game, being frozen can be healed if you use any fire attacks on your characters, so if one is not frozen use fire on every other characters for a fast unfreeze and few damage.
Not only grats on bearing the game but even more so by doing it with such low levels. You really up'ed the difficulty by not grinding a few extra spells or gear. I was born in '83 so i was around 11 years old when i first played this. No guide, no internet and it was one of thr most satisfying feelings to finally beat this and yes i was losing my shit the whole way. Lol. You can see by my handle/screen name how much this game meant to me. Glad you got to experience one of the best RPG's ever made.
Locke and Celes end up together. I always thought it would of been Locke and Terra being together. I still can't believe they dont mention Shadow/Clyde being Relms father. Kefka theme Dancing Mad, sounds like a Gothic Church music especially with the Origins.
I looove the organs and pretty much everything about Dancing Mad. I dunno how many times I've listened to it by now but it's an insane amount. I think it's cool that they gave you all the necessary info about Shadow and Relm without saying it outright. Just too bad I didn't catch onto it on my own. But damn, when I found out I was so upset knowing what he left behind after his death...
@@bunnytails awe niice it really is awesome, I need to see if I'll be able to download it to my phone. I was matter of fact I'm a see if I can download a few of the songs. But mad dance while I'm patrolling at work. There is actually a piano cover to Mad Dance maybe you can check it out. Oh another one idk if you heard would be Searching for Friends with Lyrics which I think is cool they have someone singing that theme. That's a good point there with them not fully mentioning that Shadow was Relms father, can only imagine how people would of reacted to them being related. Shadow dying though was messed up. I wanna get some more fan art work for Final Fantasy VI got a few, mainly Locke and Celes 🤍💙 after a while I said to myself I could see the two of them as a couple 😊 especially after Rachel told him she wanted him to find someone to love the way he loved Rachel.
5:00 lol Gogo should have mimicked Mog :D I honestly forgot how good this game is. It really stands the test of time. Top 5 SNES games, I think? Though that's a tough club to get into :P
@@bunnytails Good to hear, I'd like to see you play them :D I'd say my top 5 would be Super Metroid, Zelda 3, Final Fantasy III (VI), Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger. Those probably hold up the best. Especially the soundtracks of the last 3!
This was my first rpg, got me into the genre, set the bar high for me, it is one i revisit the most, i enjoyed watching you play the finale of the game.
Been lot of playing Final Fantasy VI every multi-platform for years, Locke was one my favorite of his back story of lost of Rachel and Phoenix reincarnated Rachel into the afterlife.
You might check out Final Fantasy 12. It's not as old school, naturally, but it has an excellent story (that also ties in with FF Tactics) great soundtrack and the characters are all very likeable.
Actually, FFXII is being voted for by my Patrons! So it will most likely happen somewhat soon! First place is Legend of Dragoon, with FFXII right behind it!
first ff game when i was 12 years old, 27 years ago. the big drawback with old rpg styles is you can grind and max your characters forever, as long as did your chores and your homework.
Note: kefka is the first game character to have a voice, not lines but an actual voice though it was only his laugh. Second: kefka is the only ff final villian to be Human. All the others were gods or aliens or magical beings.
One of the things that you are really good at bunny, is being able to balance both reacting to the game and talking to chat. I,ve seen let's players of this game ramble on with chat while barely reacting to what's happening in the game which frustrates me and makes me wonder why am i even watching! Lol
36:19 ~ 36:30 The timing on that laughing from Kefka AND the death sentence was impeccable.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP AND STOP LAUGHING AT ME!" LMAO
"My party is dying and im enjoying the music" LMAO - that was me back then.
I agree. This game is simply amazing. It left such a huge impression on me. Like you said.. everything about this is absolute masterpiece.
Easily one of, if not the best Final Fantasy ever made, i'm glad you were able to enjoy your experience with it.
I 100% agree, and thanks!
I’m 43. Just hearing this battle, dancing mad, and the ending makes me ball like a baby 🤦♂️. Best game ever
also 43 and one of the best games ever made.
45 here. Same
It's not really fair for me to say this is the best Final Fantasy ever when I haven't played all the FF games, but this has been the best one I've played and my favorite game ever. I'm glad you loved it! I also have my Final Fantasy playlist to listen to whenever the mood strikes... Nobuo Uematsu is a musical genius!
congrats you finished up another one
this upload was insane from the start with dialogue with kefka all the characters having their final say the choosing who to take and how to set up your party then the statues
i've never seen anything like the statues they were so awesome looking and then the music holy hell the music was just so amazing during this entire episode and the final version of kefka he looked so awesome compared to how he has looked this entire game and the music for him that was such a surprise i wasn't expecting that especially considering the music you had fighting the statues
the introduction to each and every character was just flawless i wasn't expecting that i was a little confused on the first couple names but it didn't take long to figure out it was everyone escaping the tower i was thinking they was showing some kind of important moment in each of their lives but that was so awesome how that was done
then the introduction with and you....i seriously miss the 80's and 90's so much i remember each and every tape or cd i bought reading the insleaves and the bands thanking their families their management their recording company their endorsements and finally their fans....video games used to do the same exact thing after playing a game and watching all the credits the final thank you was to you the fans and then something changed there literally is no acknowledgement to fans anymore in anything bands and video game creators just don't even thank their fans anymore when i saw that on the screen it hit me pretty hard as to how far the world has come you might not even remember anything i just typed but that was so awesome you included that into the upload it really shows how old i've gotten 🤣
congrats once again bunny i hate it took me so long to get this watched but just like you finally playing it.....you're never late when it comes to experiencing true perfection ❤
About us in 1994 losing our shit playing this, yes we were. This was mind blowing and occupied my mind for like 5 years.
I can only imagine!
agree, this game changed me forever, renting it over and over, and, that intro is just insane, blew my mind, my kid mind that dreamed after that.
That part at the very end when Terra lets her hair down really tugged at my heartstrings. Well done on beating this game.
Same here. It's such beautiful way to end things. It also signifies hope for everyone that the nightmare with Kefka is over and they all can breath a sigh of relief.
Wait, did I even notice that? I think I need to rewatch the ending.
I appreciate the sentiment, and I really did enjoy experiencing this masterpiece. But I am not too much younger than you :)
Thanks for the amazing playthrough Bunny and have a great day 🤩😊👋
PS: I hope Sabin still gets to kick Kefka's butt in a bonus video sometime in the future 😉
I am so happy I was able to share this with you and everyone else. Starting this RUclips channel was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It really warms my heart to hear when you guys are passionate about games, and can re-live that first experience through me. I’m so glad you were here. ❤️
And don’t worry, Sabin will get his time to shine. I need to edit that video this weekend so I can post it.
@@bunnytails ❤🤩💪
Best ending in any video game ever. Nothing compares.
Truly something special!
Yeah.. it takes you on a roller coaster of emotions
😆Calm down Chachi! Don't exaggerate!
Fallout new Vegas, silent hill 2 AND final fantasy vi, some of the fee games that almost make me cry
Halo 3
Ah man, what a finale! I forgot how great that final boss sequence and music were. Glad to see you enjoyed it as someone who had no experience with it before. It's really something else, just the kind of surreal organ/prog rock blend and the steady ascent up the boss statue to get to Kefka. And then after that, the credits sequence! Hard to top it. You turning Dancing Mad into your commute music is fantastic. Thank you for sharing this whole thing.
You're welcome! I'm glad you were here! :D
I would love that so much
A small note.
@22:20 the flare skill is a direct remake of the magic effect from the flare spell in ff mystic quest :) I forgot about that
Probably one of the greatest stories ever told with the greatest cast of characters and the greatest soundtrack ever written with the most epic and satisfying ending ever in any video game.
Cheers.
I am so glad you liked it! And the voice acting, too! Hope to see you again sometime!
I was waiting to see your reaction to the "chapters from a self-help booklet" and wasn't disappointed 😂😂😂
I really enjoyed your playthrough, this game is truly magical... almost nothing even to this day compares to the depth and soundtrack
Thanks, glad to hear it! And yes, I loved the ost so much that I purchased it!
Please.
Take care, God bless
one word - EPIC
If she loves the regular version of Dancing Mad she is gonna LOVE the Black Mages version (Uematsu's prog rock band).
I’ve heard it, it’s awesome! The original is still my favorite, though
Thank you for sharing these. I've watched this entire playthrough, and it's been wonderful.
I haven't seen it said anywhere on here, but I like how, whenever you ever a new area, you'd stop to listen along to the new music track. This is my favorite OST in the series!
Thank you! I purchased the soundtrack right after finishing the game to listen to in my car :D (maybe I mentioned that in the video I forgot)
Thank youuuu!!
This was entertaining. You really got me thru the last couple weeks.
Thanks again 👍
My pleasure!!
Congrats I can't believe I was there when this game first came out I feel sooooo old lol but even 30 years later I can honestly say that from all the final fantasies that I've played this one remains my love my favorite my golden oldie thanks for helping me relive that.
You’re welcome! Thanks for choosing my playthrough!
6:07 Kefka in a nutshell.
BT: "That's the last time I'm gonna hear you laugh, b-tch"
Anyone who knows Dancing Mad: "Not quite..."
This game is masterpiece
and
I love you bunnytails
Fighting some greek statues xD
Yeah, final fantasy final bosses always get a little crazy with their designs.
Thanks for the insight :)
I would SO watch that anime!
I will check out the SNES version of the fight, thanks! I've listened to the original song many times by now but never watched footage of it.
Starring:
Locke in the role of Draco
Celes in the role of Maria
Edgar in the role of Ralse
Also featuring:
Cyan, Gau, Strago and Mog as the soldiers of the Western Rebellion
and
Sabin, Setzer, Shadow and Gogo as male dancers/Ralse's royal guard
and
Terra and Relm as female dancers
Special thanks to:
Umaro for handling scene transitions and curtains
Sabin could be Ralse's right-hand-man and personal bodyguard...
I forgot who said it, I think he might have been a friend or family member, but he liked FFVI's ending because it wasn't your typical "hi and bye" ending from previous titles (well FFIV and Mystic Quest at the time)
ONE OF MY FAVORITES GAMES
A masterpiece in storytelling, my fave game of all time
To give an idea of how we 'lost our f*cking shit" and how true that statement was - i played this game when i was like 10 years old, and it literally sparked the fire of my FF obsession. I am 37 years old and FF is and always will be my favorite game series of all time. This game is absolutely a 10/10. Glad you enjoyed it so much.
Great playthrough! Awesome to see you go through it~
Much love to you and all you do~
Thank you so very much! I'm happy you enjoyed it!
1:03:29 Final Fantasy Anthem. I cry every time I hear any version of the song.
5:01 when I first saw this line as a kid I died laughing and it still makes me laugh my ass off today. Kefka is a timeless classic
The algo recommended me this video after I saw my listening to dancing mad. I enjoyed it. You're also so cute lol
Thanks :)
I get the nostalgia bug this time every year cause it's a cold and emotional month for me. It was so great getting to see your 1st experience of my fav game. GG and thx for appreciating the best character, Sabin💪
Thanks for watching :D
“That’s the last time I’ll hear you laugh bitch”. That one got me 😂
GRAND DELTA!!! lol
Unlike the last two FF6 playthroughs I tried, I did make it through the whole playlist. I'm glad you liked this game so much, and I highly recommend Xenogears 🙂
Thank you very much! Xenogears is pretty high up on my Patreon list, so it's definitely coming up somewhere in the future!
@@bunnytails yes love xenogears! I also highly recommend the suikoden games my favorite would have to be suikoden 2
Agree on Xenogears. It's my favorite RPG after FF6 and Chrono Trigger. Such great game with an exceptional plot and characters.
This game (and Chrono Trigger) pretty much shaped my life. That's why I am a Technical Animator in the Games industry right now.
I've pretty much bought this game on every platform it released. I would dare say the Pixel Remaster is the best one among them, despite not having the GBA extra content.
The things that makes this game special:
- there kinda isn't a main character (even tho, some characters are given more depth and spotlight than others).
- Each character is unique and well written, different players will naturally gravitate to a character that resonates with them (for me its Shadow)
- Each character has unique skills, but at the same time, you get to customize their magic skillset how you see fit.
- Kefka is a rare instance of a villain that not only you hate, and want to take down so bad - he actually won the game. You're just getting back at him for doing so.
- The story itself is well put together, and it makes use of the whole world (both versions) where it doesnt feel too grindy and repetitive. (I couldnt say the same for Horizon or Ghost of Tsushima, despite those being good games)
- (EDIT) Of course, it goes without saying - the soundrack
2024 says hi.
Thanks!
That game sums up the pinacle of my childhood.
Thank you for watching!!
If you liked Dancing Mad, I highly recommend "Prancing Dad" by Prince of Darkness. It's effectively Dancing Mad and One Winged Angel wrapped together in one of the most amazing Symphonic metal experiences I've heard.
Wow. Very cool! I listened to a bit but I’ll need to hear the whole thing when I’m at my computer. Thanks for mentioning it!
love your kefka voice 😂
Thanks :D
No double 'Calmness' after dropping Goddess/Sophia made that final transition a joke. lol
Dancing Mad is such a "seriously? right in front of my salad!?" moment 😂😍 it's such an iconic final boss
Hahahaha! Yes! 😂😂😂
If you had the Genji Glove equipped to Cyan. He can attack 4 time plus the extra attack for Genji Glove of a total of 8 swings.
so now you'll know if you'll replay this game, being frozen can be healed if you use any fire attacks on your characters, so if one is not frozen use fire on every other characters for a fast unfreeze and few damage.
Interesting and good to know!
5:04 I love that Kefka just decides to diss the game's entire writing and options in character development directions LMAO
Thanks!
I never liked Locke and Celes. It was so clear that Locke was using Celes as a replacement for Rachel. It was pretty gross.
@@mechanomics2649 I mean, part of his arc is letting go of Rachel and move on. I think the love between Locke and Celes is sincere.
I've only watched your stream in 2024 and I loved your experience and voiceovers. Did you ever find out the rest of Shadow's backstory since then?
This game just keeps getting better and better....
It’s so good
Shadow understood that there was still one chip out there, and it had to be destroyed also. ;)
5:00 lol Gogo should have mimicked Mog :D
I honestly forgot how good this game is. It really stands the test of time. Top 5 SNES games, I think? Though that's a tough club to get into :P
What are some of your other favorite SNES games? I have played criminally few of them and would love to try some more out.
@@bunnytails Good to hear, I'd like to see you play them :D
I'd say my top 5 would be Super Metroid, Zelda 3, Final Fantasy III (VI), Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger. Those probably hold up the best. Especially the soundtracks of the last 3!
This was my first rpg, got me into the genre, set the bar high for me, it is one i revisit the most, i enjoyed watching you play the finale of the game.
Thanks for watching!
I wish I could get my hands on the original cartridge. The graphics and sound and music are very distinct in that version.
Been lot of playing Final Fantasy VI every multi-platform for years, Locke was one my favorite of his back story of lost of Rachel and Phoenix reincarnated Rachel into the afterlife.
I love his story, too!
@@bunnytails Also Setzer is my favorite main.
when the screen rises above the clouds and title theme creeps in I lose my mind everytime
It’s so good!!!
If Opeth covered “Dancing Mad” it would just sound like any other Opeth song
This is my 3th game today that i finished whatsing. I'm glad that you liked the game. And thanks for this aventure.
You’re welcome! I finished a lot of games recently! I just finished Live a Live, too. Feels good!
@@bunnytails Oh cool. I'll keep an eye out for the video then. Thanks for the response.
Why did you decide not to use Gran Delta with Strago during the middle section? He would have done mad AOE
Oh, I guess I don't think I used it much so I didn't know it was so strong...
@@bunnytails Its the Lore you got by beating that legendary monster Strago fought all his life! Oh well, poor blue mages they are so misunderstood lol
first ff game when i was 12 years old, 27 years ago. the big drawback with old rpg styles is you can grind and max your characters forever, as long as did your chores and your homework.
It took me watching all these separate videos to realize you don’t have to wait for Cyan’s sword skills anymore! He’s op.
The fact that she decided to use Thundara with Strago, instead of Grand Delta... amazes me to wtf!
One of Greatest Final Bosses of all baby!
Yes, I couldn’t agree more!!! This was soooo epic!
Gau says: you mad, me?
Note: kefka is the first game character to have a voice, not lines but an actual voice though it was only his laugh.
Second: kefka is the only ff final villian to be Human. All the others were gods or aliens or magical beings.
I knew about the first point but not the second one! That's neat
Came here for the ending theme because it's the greatest of all time.
This game was pretty awesome and I really liked this ending.
So true!
Quote of the video: "Nobuo Uematsu... fuck" 59:02
😂
One of the things that you are really good at bunny, is being able to balance both reacting to the game and talking to chat.
I,ve seen let's players of this game ramble on with chat while barely reacting to what's happening in the game which frustrates me and makes me wonder why am i even watching! Lol
