Great video once again👍😎👍 Your Mom is awesome 😎 I enjoy learning about the different boats you review and absolutely love when you and your wife explore the different islands of the Abacos 😎❤️
Nick, I've become addictive to your channel. Thanks for sharing the informative comparisons and honest opinions. You always take us places and do the things that most of us can only dream of. PS thumbs up to mom she's a trooper.
I really appreciate that! And funny you say that, when this video finally went live this AM, I watched and had the exact same thought to myself about the background music while talking. Notes for future videos!
Love the videos. I lived in Abaco for a few years. Awsome. When you guys get a chance to, you should take a ride down to Sandy point. Get some good food at Nancy's Seaside restaurant. Safe trips guys
Thank you for the support and funny you mention that. Meli and I had a friend over to our place on Treasure this past Saturday to watch football and he was telling us the exact same thing! I think we are going to do it next time we are in town!
Just picked up my new 42 this weekend with the new V10 400s. The left/right hunting is gone. They no longer put Garmin/Simrad autopilots in the boats. Boat now tracks straight and true using the Mercury steering.
Congratulations on the new boat! That is what I am told talking some friends who have 42s. I was also told that the 42 with quad 300 Yamahas never had the hunting issue which is Intersting. That boat with the V10s must be an absolute animal! We just put them on our Bahama 41 and they completely changed the boat. What kind of economy are you getting?
Great video. Very cool to see real world conditions of top tier center consoles, back to back. I had a cat and was not a fan, echoed many of your comments about the ride. However the Freeman seemed to run noticeably faster and smoother than the Bahama, although conditions looked better.
I am trying my best to do some more of these crossings and reviews of big name boats! The conditions were definitely better on this crossing that for the Bahamas. Much better. Regarding speed, I crossed the Bahama with a whopping 2.5 hours on the new motors to go easy on them during break in. When I crossed the Bahama with the old motors I usually sat around 40-43 kts. With the new motors I can do the same or more now that they are broken in. I will say though that the Freeman probably carries it speed a little better through a sea than the Bahama does
On this last Bahama 41 crossing that I filmed I didn’t go over 4000 RPMs because of the new motors. I also said much more rough in my last reply. I mean you saw the ideo, by the end of this one it was like a sheet of glass. Right when we got off the bank it was pretty sloppy with a lot of up and down in the Freeman.
@@NickOlinde I also just took delivery of a 42 freeman with quad V10's. I will say that I've had zero tracking issues with the new Mercury digital steering and autopilot. I've had 36 Yellowfins the past 12 years and I was very concerned about the tracking issue but my new boat runs straight as an arrow. I've averaged .75 on my past two Bahamas trips but my cruise has been 48-60 on every trip. I'm very pleased with the combo.
That’s an awesome rig! That thing is an animals with the V10s. They completely changed out 41 Bahama so I can only imagine on the Freeman hull. That is what is everyone has been telling me about the tracking issues, not an issue anymore. That’s pretty impressive. For me to cruise at 42 kts (48 mph) I am at like 4500 RPM and doing like .68-.7 nm/g. If you are ever around the Abacos and see a blue Bahama 41 with quad V10s, feel free to stop me. First round is on me!
Its awesome that you took your mother on a boat review. I lost my mother last year and would give anything to spend more time with her.............How does the Freeman and the Bahama compare at rest?
Had the same tracking issue on the new 43', couldn't hold the auto pilot at high-ish speeds. Sold it because the ride stunk for a $1.4M boat. We think it because there was to much forward weight with the tower and anchor on the bow. Also the sea-star steering pumps would overheat and auto pilot would shut down trying to hold track and they were the largest ones sea-star made. Hopefully this problem has been fixed in the past year
Hey man, I like your videos though I've got to say a few things about the 42. I've got a 42 with the new merc 300's. The fuel economy of these boats rigged correctly, and trimmed is very good. I'm guessing the boat you were running has the wrong props or engine issues. My boat at 50mph with a full load of fuel and gear gets .76 mpg. My boat also hunts some but gets way better the more you trim, plus 21 is where I'm usually running it. Keep up the nice work with your vids!
I tried the entire range of trim to try and find an optimum trim level and this was running around +25 which is where I found best with this load and weight distribution. My economy really is not far off at all from yours and your motors are efficient. All of my number are in nautical terms. I was cruising at like 40-41 kts at like .65-.66 nm/g. That translates roughly to 46-47 mph at .75-.76 mpg. Which is not far off at all from you and you have more economical motors. I had the owners belongings onboard so not light, not a full fishing load, but not light. I also have the tower which hurts economy big time. And I hear the hunting issue is much much better with the newer boats and newer power/steering just like you said. I appreciate the kind words! I am trying do my best to make every video better than the last
Trim is not an issue as I know how to run a boat. The boat does have ballast tanks but I am, admittedly, not experienced with them so I left them alone and didn’t touch them. The bottom has HullMaxx and as far as I could see it was clean.
I didn’t not touch the ballast tanks because I am not experienced with them so didn’t want to mess with them. I have been on several 42s that all don’t like to track straight. I have felt some that are better than others. I have heard that is all fixed with the 43 and not an issue
That sounds about right to me. And that is correct, but again I was just reviewing that boat that I was on. And while I don’t run slalom I appreciate good handling and enjoy the fun twisty runs when the present themselves like running the shortcut at Treasure.
Have you driven or done a crossing in a 41 Century & what do you think of the Centuries (either first hand or word of mouth)? Thanks. I enjoy your videos.
Are you talking about their new Navigator 4100 boat? If so, no I have not but I would love to cross one and put it through its paces! It’s hard to say about Centuries. These new boats they are putting out today are so different than their old boats and I have no experience with the new ones. I like the old ones though. I’ve always thought they were pretty good no nonsense boats. Not top of the line but good boats. There is a 32 Century rental boat at Treasure that I have run a decent amount and actually think it rides really well. I have found it to be not the best when it comes to stability at speed but far from the worst I have experienced. It’s a solid boat
That’s hard one because it can depend so heavily on options. It can swing by 100s of thousands depending on how crazy you go with options. Expect to pay $1M+ though
Nick I have a 2022 46 Invincible cat with the same Garmin screens and I just had the same problem with one of them as well. Had to take it out and sent to Garmin they replaced it with a refurbished one. Not sure why this is happening I feel like it started after an update but not sure.
I agree! Granted I am now, after getting the replacement for ours, on our 4th 8624 is 4 years…. This is the first time with this issues. Our went 3 years without a problem and I have never seen it before until recently. You are now the 3rd person who I have heard the with the same issue recently. Weird…. If you ever need any help crossing your boat let me know! Haha
That was my thought as I know these boats are more efficient than what I am used to with the Bahama but I was just reporting what I was seeing first hand
Great video once again👍😎👍

As soon as i noticed Dragon Point I was like I know when this guy is!!!! Local here as well!!
The Bahama 41 rides super nice
Yes it does! I prefer it to the Freeman
I know Matt Modica loves seeing that HMY hat on you
Haha I use Matt for all my clients boats in the Palm Beach and Stuart areas

1 What's the distance
2 Desired or expected ETA
Did you fill the ballasts? Don’t some freeman’s have a ballast? Maybe that is what corrects some of the tracking?
That and trim….but something wrong with that boat to get such terrible mileage. Maybe the bottom is full of growth.
Trim is not an issue as I know how to run a boat. The boat does have ballast tanks but I am, admittedly, not experienced with them so I left them alone and didn’t touch them. The bottom has HullMaxx and as far as I could see it was clean.

I’d get 1 mpg flat and light. The leaning is gone on new freemans with zip wakes. But I don’t run slalom on boats.
That sounds about right to me. And that is correct, but again I was just reviewing that boat that I was on. And while I don’t run slalom I appreciate good handling and enjoy the fun twisty runs when the present themselves like running the shortcut at Treasure.
Check my lastest response. This is .65 nm/g, not mpg. .75 was what I was doing in MPG.

Nick - Yes, I can see why you would be annoyed at the steering issue. That was alot.
Nick what price does it have New
That’s hard one because it can depend so heavily on options. It can swing by 100s of thousands depending on how crazy you go with options. Expect to pay $1M+ though

Do a SeaFox review.
I'll save you the wait..they're junk.
Something wrong with those engines…..my 42 with a tower would get 0.75 mpg fully loaded for bear. 0.6 is not right.
That was my thought as I know these boats are more efficient than what I am used to with the Bahama but I was just reporting what I was seeing first hand
And by the way, this was .65 nm/g so translated to roughly .75 statute miles per gallon
I took my buddies 47 freeman out for the weekend and I will stick to my 39 contender. Thing was
going side to side the whole time 👎👎
Wow! Not even close to claims on Freeman website of 45 mph cruise @ .95 gph.
Take your watch off it’s all I could focus on
😂😂 the Rollie!
$500K?
More than that. A LOT more.
Still not worth the RIDICULOUS money they command.
Thats sad. Million dollar boat and cant even use auto pilot to steer it correctly. Yesh.
