Glad you got to follow up with it.. Months ago had a Dodge Ram 4.7l, customer needed a new alternator, truck was also low on oil (valves were makin a racket) and coolant. Months later customer hit me up with a p0452, p0300 and p0308. Cylinder 8 coil pack was broke at the boot, he decided to throw all new coils/plugs at it, haven't heard back since..
When doing a compression test, easiest way is to pull the feul pump relay(it wont start) and crank atleast 5 revolutions for the best reading. Also when its running get a stethoscope and listen to the injectors firing. Should hear solid ticks on the injectors if they are good. 👍
who would guess, someone who killed a motor.... killed another one! i had someone come in this week asking for a water pump on a 04 durango... turns out it blew the head gasket so bad it was spitting coolant out of the dash/heater core. Owner had it towed in after driving with no water pump belt until the car shut off.... poor durangos usually go to hell, most dont make it back lol I enjoy watching your videos Justin. thumbs up
Good find! Something wrong with the valves I think. A cylinder with ok valves and NO rings will read higher than shown. Hole in a piston won't. Sounds like auction material.
I’ve had a 4.7 overheat there are none of the normal signs of a blown head gasket but it idles and runs rough now also it’s showing P205 and P206 engine codes it ran fine and didn’t have those codes before it overheated. Would it be the valve seats on Cylinders 5&6 not the fuel injectors as codes show? Also under hard a acceleration it does fine.
I got a quick question if you think you can answer I got a Dodge Durango 2004 4.7 l motor no start got no power to the cause got good gas pressure do you know what can I check next if you could please text back or shout out to me I would appreciate it thank you
My name is Michael I replied because I got a 2004 Dodge Durango 4.7 l motor no start no fire to the cause got gas pressure do you know what I can check next if you could reach back out to me if not it's okay but thank you I can only afford to work on myself
Does anyone know what would be going on with my truck? I have a 2010 Dodge Dakota with a 3.7L V6 engine. It has a check engine light that has been coming on and off for a little while. Whenever I start it up it makes this puttering sound that seems to get better as i drive it. I have also taken it to a shop and they told me that Cylinder 1 is misfiring but they are stumped on the cause of it. They are telling me that these issues may not even be connected and there might be 2 things wrong with my truck. They are recommending I replace the engine as trying to find out and fix whatever is wrong would not be worth it. What should I do? Sell my truck off as is for whatever I can get for it or try to fix it???!? A new engine plus labor will likely be at least 4 grand :(
I have a 06 4.7 dakota slt 4 door. Only firing on 3 cylinders. New spark plugs, new coils, timing chain, fuel injectors, cam and crank censors, new AIC valve, and new valves. Still only firing off 3 cylinders. Could it be a computer problem at this point?
So i just bought a 2004 dodge durango 4.7 liture v8 magnum but its got some known issues but i changed the coil packs and spark plugs all ready but it's still misfiring i took it too auto zone and they said my throttle position sensor was bad but i really feel theres more too it than that i know it has an exhaust leak but my engine is really quiet in idle but as i drive its got like a loud rouring or and blowing noise and it does putter in idle and it takes a minute to get up and go but i really need some guidance too find out what i could look at and analyze so i can better understand this issue and is it worth fixing theres no nocking or other issues just those. But pls someone help i really like this truck dont want too have too spend the $500 for a new engine of not needed too.

Good call I was glad that you caught that I work on my own still learning a lot
Man... You could hear that dead cylinder... That skipping sound is what I'm talking about.

Spark, fuel, air & compression for misfires. Keep it simple👍🔧🍺 nice to see you figured it out bro
Lone Star Auto Agreed. Thanks Brotherman 🍻👍

Dropped valve seat, the 4.7 is well known for this.
Nice Job finding the Problem!!
Good video can’t wait to get to wyotech for my schooling.
LT.Edward read school reviews before enrolling.

Did you figure it out?
You figure it out? I'm in the exact same boat. Just bought it
Bro I belive it's the fuse box, check the fuse box, the computer board take it apart
No compression👍
You can hear the skip. Dead giveaway
Good to know for the next time. I'm still learning. Cheers!
All dodge Dakota have same problem.
