Aim for a high B or an A average to be safe! I know students that got 70’s and were accepted, but I don’t know any that got into GEMP with anything less than that. Hope this helps!
Both pharmacy and chemistry qualify as far as I know. Have a look at what credits those courses give you, and compare them to what the Wits requirements are when applying for the WAPT.
There is a chap in 5th year at the moment absolutely killing it, he is probably top of the class is not a close 2nd. He’s a great guy and he is part of the Ampt for the WAPT team.
I did a Non BSc degree and Honors. So I don’t have the biology physics or chemistry. Do you by any chance know which modules I would do at Unisa to meet the equivalent for the 3
Contact the faculty for more information, they are usually really good at this and it is usually only a few days until they end up responding. Best of luck.
Hey John. Thank you so much for your video! I was wondering, regarding the physics Requirement, does it matter if it's physics 101/102 or Physics 1E1/1E2 or is it irrelevant as long as there's a credit?
Hi Tamisanqa. I am not sure what the difference is between these courses. Did you obtain the credits at Wits? You will have to look in the study guide for those particular courses and compare them to what Wits expects of you. Hope this helps. All the best !
@@journeywithj Thank you so much John! No I'm getting it at Rhodes. I emailed wits GEMP department and I was told that it doesn't matter because there's no specific physics course they recommend.
Can i please ask, since math is one of the requirements for GEMP, do i need to do a short course of math at first level of university before applying if I never did math in high school but only did mathematical literacy.
Hi John Is GEMP the only entry point for someone with a tertiary degree at Wits? I'm coming from a non-bsc biology related degree (actuarial science honours), am I eligible to apply at if I'm willing to start from first year and meet all the requirements in terms of NSC marks, NBT marks?
Hy, I have a question. I didn't get 60% for maths in matric but I did do an introduction to maths module In first year( of which the requirement is 50%). Now I'm asking if that will qualify me to be considered for the wapt??
@@journeywithj what would be the best modules to take to best align one for the test ? Also , is it better/more beneficial to do a Bsc degree or a BHsc ???
Heyyy there .. I'm a Nurse interested in doing the GEMP, my worry now however is that I may not have enough time left to prepare for the WAPT. I know that the applications close end of the month , but my question now is by when do they normally let you know if you have been invited to write the WAPT test? and is it a necessity to buy the prescribed textbooks?. Keep up the good videos💚👩⚕️
Hi there! I am super sorry for the late reply. I’m sure by now you would have received your invite and I have no doubt that you’re preparing for the WAPT like a champion 🙌 Looking forward to the good news !
@@journeywithj so I didn’t write the wapt because I thought that chances of me getting in with the 60% aggregate I had were slim to 0 even if I were to pass the wapt. Any advice ?
I was the 1000th subscriber😆😎 , felt cool to press the subscribe button to change it to 1k ( proud cheeky moment ) great video btw
I feel like sending you a coffee !😉
Hey man . Can you make a video on how to actually apply for the WAPT. The steps involved
Super informative, sounds tempting bru 😂
If i have 75% and 85% in chemistry and biology in university but have less than 60% in maths in high school do i qualify for Wapt test?
Hi!
You will only qualify if you meet the minimum application requirements stated on the site.
Im a Computer Science student. What is the usual average needed in those last 2 few years of the people who got accepted

Do i quality if i study b tech in chemical engineering
Busy completing my masters in medical biosciences, i have 65% for highschool maths, phys and eng. Could i qualify?
question: if I start Biology next year (2022), when can I apply for GEMP?
You can apply in your pen-ultimate year of studies.
Can you please tell me which degrees I can study if I want to qualify for a GEMP and if pharmacy or biochemistry are an option?
Both pharmacy and chemistry qualify as far as I know. Have a look at what credits those courses give you, and compare them to what the Wits requirements are when applying for the WAPT.
Hi John, do you think I have a chance if I did a physiotherapy degree?
Yes of course!

Lol, thought I was the only guy that listened to podcasts/studied while working out in the gym while everyone else listened to hype music
All about that growth !!!

Yes math is a requirement, you would need to complete this along with the other courses they mention on the website!

Yes of course! This is a slightly less complicated application process, but my advice would be to contact the faculty and see what they say.
Hi ❤️,why did you decide to change?
Can you tell me if the Mathematics for access at WITS plus will be equivalent to be invited to write the WAPT ?
Contact the faculty regarding this. But you shouldn’t run into too many problems if it was completed through Wits:

They usually only look at the final two years of your studies. So you should be okay, as long as you achieved a minimum of 60% for the Maths in Uni.
Hi i pursuing a BSc Degree in Biological Sciences...do i qualify for the WAPT
Yes you do!

Only possible at Tuks !
Through the BSc biological sciences program.
Not me only having a month to study for the WAPT 😐

Hope the WAPT went well everyone !🤞
