Here again! One can imagine lush green fields before one's eyes, cool breeze flowing.. sunlight and chirping of birds. Fragrance of flowers. Wow! Bhairavi on the Been is such a pleasure ❣️❣️
@@RudraVeena Bhairavi is such a wonder Raga! Multitude of shades. It can make you cry like anything. It at times provides solace(as a child in the mother's lap.). The very same Bhairavi cheers you up when needed!! If I may request, please do post Ustadji's Bhairavi.. if possible. 😀😀
I wished I could Devansh. But as it is I heard Khansahib playing Bhairavi only in one concert and that too just as a 10 min fairwell piece. Generally he was not so much into Ragas with a sweet and female character. He preferred Ragas with veer rasa and challenging harmonics. As we know his Multani, Shree, Lalit etc. are unparalleled.
@@RudraVeena Oh! I see. Thank you for the reply. On an other note, I would suggest you to listen to Kumar Gandharva's Bhairavi.. he used to sing around 100 compositions in Bhairavi.
Bhairavi is a beautiful raga in itself and you are getting the essence of it.Maharani ma kalika annant sundri annant dyalu bless you with lots and lots of music.Love from India.
The celestial music of the rudra veena transports the listener to another world . You,Mr.Wicke have a deep insight into the classical music of India and this instrument. Shows your commitment. Thank you for this wonderful experience.
Loved it so much.. since past few days am lingering upon this Bhairavi.. a Bhairavi in its full extent and grace! May we hope for more such mouthful doses of pure joy from u :)
Happy to see it lingering so deep in your mind Devansh. And sure, more recordings to come in future. It just needs its own time, like everything in Dhrupad ;-)
Its really the finest Veena I could finish so far. It has a great balance in its deep bass, long sustain and a bright aura of overtones. But as a rightly mentioned, recordings never do full justice to the instrument...
I have no doubt this pleased the Goddess 🙏 ❤️ such a beautiful rendering, so sensitive to the Raag, and on such a spectacular veena! Thank you for making my morning music so perfectly calming and focusing, while simultaneously elevating my soul in bhakti with this sacred music.
Hello, finally I found the instrument, which gives the sound which I loved always when tuning my classical guitar 6th string, that sound of thick string is something beyond. Hope one day I will have money to buy rudra Veena, till then I will try to make from bamboo and whatever I will find in my home and garden in Himachal. Can you give some guidelines hope could I learn playing without too much money? I see big importance of this instrument for all people around but this instrument is disappearing rapidly, we need to make it popular again, but need to make great musicians. I would love to learn but I don't know when I will have extra 50k ruppes, now I can't go back to my country Lithuania to earn money, in India little bit struggling with money during Corona. Anyway, glad found you, hope one day we will meet and play together, or who knows, maybe you will teach me 😊 I am staying near Palampur, Himachal Pradesh 😊 I want to learn this instrument so that all world people would be impressed by Indian music 😊 also can I learn playing well without teacher being with me? Is it possible to learn online or from some books theory and then just practice? But first need to make one Veena for myself, maybe bamboo will work, even without proper sound, but to practice hands. I found on Amazon set of strings just only for 1000 rupees, so maybe even some sound I will make 😊
Well to start with, the Rudra Veena never has been a instrument for the masses. But against your perception the situation for its future is a bit more promising than 2-3 decades ago. With the lack of specialized instrument makers for this instrument manufacturing your own Veena has become almost the only option for most of us players. However it would be difficult to do this successful with this strongly customized instrument without a good exemplar as a blueprint and the experience whats important to create playability and sound... Regarding learning, you just ask yourself how far you would have come with educating yourself in Hatha Yoga. And that's not taking in account that compared to Hatha Yoga you won't find even 0.01% self teaching material on Dhrupad and the Rudra Veena. And that is for a good reason. However telling you these facts means not to dump all your enthusiasm. Sure we continue to discuss the matter. In case you make it to Kolkata, most welcome. Otherwise contact me on WhatsApp: +919051612599.
Namaste sir I am student and I often watch you and Ustad Asad Ali Khan Saheb to know how to do vistaar . Currently I'm learning raga Poorvi, so could you please upload any video of you or ustad Ji playing Raga Poorvi
Happy to read Sushant that you are referring to the Rudra Veena for Ragadari. Unfortunately I do not have a video recording of Ustadji or me perfoming Raga Purvi. However there is a CD recording of the Raga from Khansahib. You can find it here: ruclips.net/video/SRgkMe8fMBY/видео.html

Mr.Wicke, I am a American multi-instrumentalist and I was wondering how one could go about learning the rudra veena in the states? Is there anyone you know who teaches in the u.s.?
Jeff Lewis from Seattle, Washington. But I guess he will teach only students who fully commit to the instrument...
@@RudraVeena Yes, for sure. I appreciate it. Many blessings to you and thanks for reaching back.
One question, to which key is your veena tuned to?
Somewhere around G#, depending on the instrument.
:)
