    Man I went through the same scenario. Was killing the heck out of birds for a few years and just got obsessed with it. It took the Lord humbling me to realize I was taking it too far and too serious. Being frustrated with not killing a lot of birds and not being the husband I should've been to my wife. Now, I put family first and I don't take one single duck for granted because its all a gift from God. There's nothing wrong with being crazy about ducks. Just can't let it take priority over the important things in life. And can't let a blessing become a frustration when things don't go right. Feels good to know I'm not the only one who went through it. I enjoy the videos guys!

    Been there, done that many times. Ducks love a rough old secluded place like that, especially later in the season. But you're exactly right, some days you've just got to be grateful to be able to be out there. Great video 👍.

    Really good video! For those of us who are obsessed with duck hunting, it’s always more than just getting limits. Sometimes (like you said) we get tunnel vision and have to be reminded of that. I love those kind of spots too! They are certainly a pain without a dog. They’re a pain with a dog too though! lol

      Appreciate the kind words brother, definitely a tough lesson to get through my thick head but I'm slowly getting it Lord willing. Not that limits matter to me, I guess it's more of just successfully figuring them out is what I'm always chasing and when we dont accomplish it, it can lead to frustration instead of just enjoying the morning. Fine line in there somewhere lol. Thanks for taking the time to check us out

    Looks to me like it's overcast or cloudy out so there are no shadows to hide in. In my opinion that was the biggest issue. So with that said you needed the brush to hide in instead of being able to hide in shadows on the Sunny's days

    • @ChasingGreen
      @ChasingGreen  4 года назад

      Yeah that was definitely an issue but weve done very well on cloudy days out there in the past, and countless other places. Easy to look and say it was that or this but what weve come to learn is that a lot of times it comes down to being meant to be or not. The bible says not a sparrow falls apart from the Lords hand, so I think greenheads fall under that too. I analyze and adjust more than most, but the Lord kinda just said to ease up and enjoy sometimes. Dont let your joy be so determined on getting a good video, or killing your limit. Chasing Green Due to family commitments, I have all but given up waterfowl hunting. My dad is in his 80’s and gave up waterfowl hunting several years before, so I had less drive and no scouting reports from back home. I have slowly turned it over to God and He has eased the emotional, visceral anguish that I was feeling. I had basically gotten to the point that I was ok with never hunting ducks or geese again, then I came across FDH and made several comments on Elliott’s videos. Having no idea about my situation, he invited me out to KS to hunt. I felt like God had put it all in place, so I headed out there. Because God had helped me learn to be satisfied without, I didn’t really care how many ducks we killed. I just wanted to hang out with some fellow believers in Jesus who were also passionate about hunting. Turns out I came at just the right time and we slayed the ducks. But I don’t really even remember most of the ducks I shot. What I will remember forever are the conversations we had in the truck, in the cabin, and on the shoreline while we waited for daylight. For those guys it may just been another weekend of hunting. But for me...it was a spiritual and emotional reset and recharge that I needed more than I even realized. Treasure those moments with your brothers in the faith. “Like iron sharpens iron, one man sharpens his neighbor”.

    Are any of your guys thinking about getting a dog. It sure seems it would help you guys. We always had at least one. Then hunted without one for 2 years and as much as I like to go I needed one. It wasn’t fair to the ducks to not retrieve them and it was my responsibility to do everything I could do to get them. I’m not saying you don’t try. It’s just my experience of why I got mine.

      Yeah man, that's a great point, it just hasn't been good circumstances for either one of us to get one for the past several years. Used to always use one. Hope to get one next year, typically we dont lose ducks but this stuff is no joke man. We give it all we got on em, but hopefully we can get one in the near future.

      A retriever is a ton of work and the dog gets kind of used to it. You can't just put him up like a shotgun. You have him moaning at you off season too. Let's go work in the water. It's a 14 year commitment like getting married.
      Labs live 10 years at least. I've had three. Two died at age ten. The yellow one is 11 today. Milo.
      He's a mellow dog.

    Those kinda holes separate the true duck hunters from the “duck shooters”.

      Yeah no doubt, that's what I've hunted in my whole life pretty much. 75% of the ducks I've killed over the past 20+ years came at the hand of mr beaver

    No wind couldn’t have helped matters in that first hunt. Correct me if I’m wrong, it seems like lack of wind gives them more options -in a given area- on where they can sit down.
    Birds in y’alls faces, response to calls, beautiful cypress slough....but that shitty trap mud...that stuff can make a great hunt miserable. Enjoy y’all posts.
    PS season is just around the corner.

      Appreciate it man, yeah a touch of wind always helps a little but the main thing imo is it just wasnt our day, and that's part of it sometimes. Thanks for watching brother 👊🏻

      @ChasingGreen  4 года назад

      Yeah, that's what I was saying the vid. Got complacent as we have smashed em out there doing the exact same things pretty much everytime weve hunted it. It just wasnt our day that day

      On a sunny day you get away with more than cloudy. On cloudy days the ducks see everything. No glare or shadows. I've studied a lot of pics of limits in arkansas and 98% of the time there's blue skies. The weather often changes where u sit in the rain waiting for it to break. Bam bam bam let's go home we are done. Happens a lot so always go ...rain or shine. Give it 15 min. The weather will change because it's arkansas. 😎
      Now if it gets windy where the trees are swaying and hitting each other GET THE HELL OUT GET OUT NOW GO GO GO! Talking flooded timber hunting.

    Not very sporty killing on the water!!

    • @ChasingGreen

      That's some people's opinion. Not ours. The sport is tricking them into thinking we're ducks, getting them all the way to the water. If the sport was shooting I would dove hunt or shoot skeets all the time. It's far more ethical and efficient to shoot on the water. I dont go out there for the sport of shooting, I go for the the sport of hunting, which is getting on the x, calling, decoys etc. That's just how I see it. Totally fine if the sport is shooting for someone. Just not for me.

      @@ChasingGreen I don’t shoot ducks on the water, I feel like giving them a fighting chance which helps me be a better shot. I don’t believe killing a duck sitting on the water is very sportsman like, just my personal opinion. Good luck hunting and god bless

    Y’all water whack more than anyone I’ve ever seen! No sport in that.

    • @ChasingGreen
      @ChasingGreen  3 года назад

      To you maybe. The sport to me is hunting them, calling decoying. If shooting was the sport id shoot clays and targets. Remember that next time you cripple one when you run him up instead of just taking an ethical shot on the water. Just my opinion. If you like shooting them flying, more power to you.

    I will give this video a 10 for the Bible verse but a -1 for killing poor ducks. KFC makes some delicious extra crispy fried chicken you can eat instead and if you like to shoot guns there's plenty of non-living things to shoot like skeets, tin cans, etc. etc. Then you can change your videos to be videos of going to the parks etc to feed the ducks.

    • @ChasingGreen

      Hunters feed more ducks, and give habitat for ducks than anybody else. Without people hunting ducks, and spending money in the waterfowl industry, duck habitat would decrease significantly. The average person feeds ducks at the park, which are not wild ducks, and probably feeding them bread which is really bad for their digestive system, while hunters plant thousands upon thousands of acres of real duck food that actually goes to their survival. I suggest you do just a tad bit of research and I think you would find that without hunters, the duck population, along with all other game species populations, will be in much worse shape
