Holst: The Planets - VENUS Bringer of Peace - Berliner Philharmoniker (NATURE & CLASSICS)

Gustav Holst composed The Planets as an orchestral suite and gave the individual movements the character of the respective Roman deities. Venus (the 2nd movement) as the "goddess of love" or the "bringer of peace".
In 1913, Holst developed an interest in astrology during a holiday in Mallorca and drew up horoscopes for friends. A little later, he began composing his orchestral suite, which had and still has a great influence on many film musicians - for example John Williams.
