Should the Class 800s and 802s be HATED? | Train Review

Today I travel on a hated train, these trains go all round the country such as Kings Cross, Penzance, York and other places, these are called the IETs, built by Hitachi, these trains span over many TOCs such as GWR, LNER, Lumo, Hull Trains, Transpennine Express and more.
Join me as I travel from Exeter to Westbury and give my honest opinion on them.

Also, as you state they are first class themself, as I’m guessing your from Southampton, you wouldn’t have nice seats with blinds so that’s a step up right 😊

Much more smoother than 377s although seats are a bit hard, they are a 6/10 for me

The seats are ok for short journeys, say a max of an hour. But for 8 hours no, even first class is hard. And at 125 mph you have to chase your drinks across the table. Anything over a 100 they are ruff.

Yeah, seats are only decent for short journeys, maybe an hour and a half at max.

Exeter to Westbury is a short journey.
The standard class catering is very insufficient and unreliable for long journeys.

They should be used on mainly only shorter journeys and maybe even the BSK > RDG service (that will never work though)
They are good at having long coaches for once, but as you say, catering is terrible for the long journeys. But most of GWRs fleet is terrible.

They are but on my point of me travelling to Southampton to Portsmouth on 165s (and Cardiff > Portsmouth on 3 cars) I think is bad enough.

nah i think they are decent enough. theres plenty worst trains by swr that make commuting just awful ,be greatful for this trust me
