What a wonderful little car. It did everything to please it's new owner. I used to do this same thing. When I lived in California I would find cars abandoned in shopping center parking lots. Actually it's not the same since you buy from auctions, Anyway a lot of times they left the door unlocked or it was already broken into. I checked out the registration and contacted the owner. Many times they would offer me money to take the car off their hands. I found a 66 Mustang one time that was starting to get stripped at a Lumber City parking lot in Westlake Village California. It was missing a few engine parts but I paid 100 dollars for it. It needed a few things to get it running but I was able to drive at after about 150 dollars of parts I was able to buy in a wrecking yard. Another time I found a 76 Mercury Capri. All it needed was the main fuse and I ran that car all over Southern California. It drove great. I also found a 77 VW Scirocco with a 5 speed manual. I loved that car. So fun to drive and very peppy. I made some money on the cars I found. This was back in the Mid 80's when I was much younger and California was not so strict on their laws. Today you leave a car more then 24 hours they tow it. I live in Arizona now and still work on cars but just as a backyard mechanic for friends and myself. I love your channel. Keep up the good work.

Randy sir, you and Mike can easily fix 99% of the issues on this car without breaking the bank. You might even be able to bring the paint back with a good detail on it. I know the Probe very well and they were good cars when they came out. She’s definitely going to make it!!! 👍😁

I remember Ford UK saying the new capri 2.8i was here. When we got the Anal Probe 2.5 24v. They forgot the wrong wheels drove. And then nobody bought them. Took me ages to buy one at 18yo in 98. They only came out in 94 here and in 4 years they'd virtually disappeared

I have almost the same car,in a 1994 model. Same color, but with a rear spoiler and
a five speed stick shift. Bought it used in 96,with 30 k miles on it. Now has 248 k miles
on it. Same timing belt never been changed. The most reliable car I have owned . Liked
it so well I bought another one ,a red 94 GT in 2003. 5 speed as well. Both have been
retired from service . The GT is parked in the garage next to my 97 T-bird . SE is parked
under my carport under a car cover. Parked it in 2017 and it started after cranking
about 10 seconds . Don't need either one of them anymore, but I keep them so they
can be original survivor cars to show they existed.

Nice find Randy! I like underappreciated cars like this- cool and unique, but still usable and very affordable for the common person to buy and maintain. I think this car will make it back, it seems like a good runner and I'd think the timing belt likely would have broke by now if it was original. Looking forward to part 2, keep up the great work man!

Idk why, but I always thought that these cars came with the Ford Lima 2.3 and not a 2.0 Mazda engine, but that'd make sense considering the fact that the 2.5 V6 that was an option in these cars was also a Mazda engine. My first car was a 1990 Ford Festiva that not only had Mazda tags under the hood, but I also saw Kia tags as well...

I drove it to the junkyard because the rust was insane and the car was no longer road worthy. I understand they should be replaced but, you'd be surprised at how many miles/years they can go before breaking. Just my opinion. Be safe guys, look forward to the next one.

This would be OBD 1.5 Ford and GM were a lot of like. GM needed a Master TECH II scan tool and Ford used a Blue Oval Scan Tool 2.0. These probes had problems like the Chrysler Ultra drive 4 speed. i replaced a bunch of trans solenoids on these back in the 1990's. These Probe's and the Chrysler Ultra Drive 4 speed auto were famous for all for solenoids going bad if this had overdrive. These and the Ultra Driv4 speed also had linkage problems with the plastics degraded in 3 years. These and Chrysler were notorious for these tow problems. The solenoids were 125.00 for all four back then and change the fluid. People would always thanks their trans were bad we changed over 100 of these back in the 1990's. These solenoids needed changed every 35k to 60kmiles when fluid was changed.
