Thanks so much for including the watt usage. That's exactly what I came here to find out!
Glad it was helpful! Smash the LIKE, it really helps my channel, thanks!
Nice docking station
Thanks for watching
I have a Asus notebook with 1x thunderbolt and 1x hdmi port, can I use this dock to connect to 3 separate monitors (4screens including the notebook) with different functions not mirroring?
I never used that kind of laptop so I can't be sure. Usually 2 extended monitor should not be a problem.
Thank you for the video. If I only connect the host cable and the power supply for the dock and charge my MacBook via MagSafe, will this combo work ?
Yes all ports from the dock still work. However the laptop cannot be charged unless you connect a PD (USB-C) charger to this hub.
Hi, any idea if I’m using a Macbook and also this exact docking station, how do I get screen to be A/B/C like a windows user? I tried using displaylink but I’m unable to get it to work.thanks in advance!
Due to the M1 chip limitation, only one external monitor is supported. The other HDMI ports may work but are duplicates of the extended one. I have another video coming up, so stay tuned.
Hi, is it possible to connect it to your pc via a Type-A USB3.2 Gen1 port (using Type C - USB cable). If yes, you can still use the video ports?
Sorry I don't have that kind of Type-A cable.
Hi, thanks for the review video. I have a question, if i close the macbook screen will the 2nd monitor still detect and work? or i need to lift the screen up to use on the 2nd monitor?
Yes it will work when the laptop lid is closed. This hub works just like any portable usb-c hub. As I showed in the video, you don't need to supply DC power at all. But keep in mind closing the laptop lid will make the laptop run hotter, which is bad for the battery.
great video man thank you. i was wondering though, can i use every single port art once? without anything failing
Yes you can!
Hi, thank you so much for this video. I was hoping you could answer my question before I purchase this. I have a 4k monitor and a 1080 165hz monitor, both output using Displayport. I am currently Daisy-Chaining both and inputting it to my laptop via Displayport to type-c connector (my laptop has Type-C PD port) and everything seems to work. I was thinking of using the PD port on the dock to do something similar, but wasnt sure if it would work as intended. I would have the type-c data port connect to my laptop to enable everything and use the Dock to manage all my peripherals. is this something plausible for my usecase?
Sorry I don't have that kind of setup so it's hard for me to answer your question.
If my laptop need "old fashion" power supply (HP laptop), not the modern Usbc you have here, do this work with my computer? The only usb C I have only work for data transfer, it does not power my laptop. I use another docking station but would like to buy this one.
I'm not sure, it really depends on the model of your laptop. The USB-C must be DisplayPort compatible.
Hi, I have a question, HDMI has support output screen 2k 120hz or 144hz not (I using Macbook M1 Pro and LG ultragear 32gp850-b )? Thanks :D
4K@30Hz when using a single HDMI port, 1080P@60Hz when using 2 or 3 in Windows system.
Hi, is there any software that i need to install, so i can have multiple screen with macbook pro m3 as main laptop?
Sorry I don't know.
hi, i have a question, if i’ll connect some ssd by usb-c or a monitor by hdmi to the docking station, there will be some lag or speed difference compared to direct connection to macbook?
(sorry for i english, im not a native speaker :))
Good question. I don't know. I have to test that. I assume they share the limited bandwidth.
Truly amazing(17 inputs). My setup:
- MacBook Pro as input(I didn’t do power through hub, because Macs are sensitive, better have original directly)
- 4k 60hz monitor
- 1080p 60fps webcam
- Microphone(usb)
- Elgato stream deck
Works with or without power outlet.
Thank you author for the video, I made a decision based on it and info in comments.
Sounds great, thanks for sharing your experience! I hope you enjoy it!
Hi, can I use this to my pc? Will hdmi (from pc) to usb (to dock) work? Appreciate your response thanks!
Yes you can as long as your PC has a type-c port that supports display signal.
Can I power this dock with just a regular USB C charger if I'm not looking to use the laptop power delivery port? Thanks
The USB-C is for supplying power to the laptop only. The USB ports are powered by the AC adapter that comes with the hub, although you don't have the use it, unless you need to charge lots of USB devices.
Hey, what a great review! My LAN port recently always get disconnected after a short while of using. almost every 10 minutes. Do you happen to have heard anyone encountered this or you have experienced this yourself?
Thanks but I don't use the ethernet port any more, it's all WiFi. You may contact customer support.
Hey, nice review. If you connect the laptop power supply to the hub, but not the hub own charger, do all ports work? Does it still charge the laptop (at a slower rate, I suppose)? Thanks :)
Yes it does with with laptop PD power supply connected only. And it will charge the laptop. The power supply of the hub is for high-powered USB devices only I think.
@@ToolsElectroDIY hi! i also had the same question, but would like to get into more details about it, what i f i only use my macbook charger which is 65 watts, will the charging current that goes to my laptop be less?? since it will power the hub, etc, im thinking of not bringing the power supply that came with the hub. or maybe the 12v powersupply makes the usb ports go into PD or Q.C 3.0? will it be slower if not plugged in? Sorry i have many questions! i'm currently considering on getting the 100w gan2 charger from baseus.
@@giehtechreviews6857 The hub doesn't need to be powered as shown in my video. The power adapter for the hub is used to power the USB ports only. The PD type-c input is a pass through charging port, which will not reduce the power output when charging the laptop.
thanks a lot for your reply! appreciate this!
Could you also just Power the Dock with the Standard Apple Power Brick for the 16 inch Macbook Pro? (140 Watts) Or is the Exact 100W of Power Delivery needed? (Sorry if this Question may be weird to ask but i'm curious)
Great Review by the way, im planning on getting that dock!
You don't need to use any power supply to use the dock. It is powered by the laptop. However, if you want to use the USB ports to charge other devices, the AC adapter of the dock must be connected. The USB-C input of the dock is used to supply power to the laptop only. I thought I mentioned this in the video already.
Thank you very much of your support. Please consider smashing the LIKE and Subscribe to support my channel!
@@ToolsElectroDIY Thank you for your answer🙏🏻 Yes you did cover that, but that was not the Intention of my question...I meant the Power that comes from the Laptop to power the dock, can the standard 140 W power brick from the apple m1 macbook pro 16" be used for that?
I figured that the other charger is not mandatory if you don't want to use the 3 usb ports on the front, you covered that clearly, thanks😁👍🏻
Can ı use this dock with İntel macbook for 2 monitors(1 hdmi and 1 type c). I want to extend monitors
No you can't. You need 2 hubs for that.
Hello There, did you try the ethernet conection? I have one of this, it is very powerfull hub but I can´t use the ethernet port the internet concection didnt work, I have a ethernet usb-c adapter for that. I search in manual and internet and didnt find any help. I have a macbook pro M1 like yours. Thank´s
I didn't try the ethernet port. Most of the time I use wifi.
Hi, does it support 100W PD output to charge a laptop that needa 100W?
Yes it does have a 100W PD USB-C Port. However keep in mind you have to supply that 100W power adapter. See link in description.
What's the difference between this and the Anker Docking Station, Anker 575 USB-C Docking Station
Unknown. I don't have the Anker one.
Wil a Samsung phone get super fast charging 2.0 with this dock? Samsung phone seem picky when Lessing charger negotiate charge rates.
not sure. I don't have samsung phones.
Great review! Quick question: Can this output 1440p 144Hz via HDMI?
I think it is limited at 60HZ
I'm a bit confused as to why you have 2 chargers connected. You're already connected via the included power brick, but you are also connected to a 100W charger. Is it not able to handle everything with the included brick?
Please watch the review again. The usb-c hub charger is not required, only needed to power additional USB devices (used like a multiport charger), the 100W charger is for the power supply of the laptop.
@@ToolsElectroDIY Ok thanks.
For some reasons this hub perfectly work with Windows OS. On MacBook Pro 14 2021 it detect Monitor but does not wake it up. Monitor stay black. Other issue is network adapter. It stop working. Dock station must be fully depowered to start network again.
Check HDMI cable quality?
What is the refresh rate from the hub?
60hz
Ac adapter which comes in pack as standard can charge laptop? What power or this ac adapter ? 45w or 65w?
No, the AC adapter powers the USB ports only. I thought I covered this part in the review too.
So need to use usb type c with power delivery protocol and ac adapter for charging laptop and for correct work usb ? Is it possible to use only type c with PD for charging laptop and USB ports ?
@Максим Андреев Correct. You need something like this ruclips.net/video/hysRGwS-zp0/видео.html USB ports will have power but may not be sufficient so the hub AC power supply is needed.
My laptop dont have usb c. Can i use it using usb-A 3.0
No you can't.
Can I connect a webcam usb and video out by hdmi output????
I understand what you are trying to do but you can't use this hub like that. You need something like this, watch my review here ruclips.net/video/3jplfrZ428c/видео.html product link in the video description.
@@ToolsElectroDIY yes but this other is more expensive
@@DonVi there are no cheaper solutions that I know of
@@ToolsElectroDIY thanks
Have you ever tried it on ultra wide monitor? Im struggling to make it works on my MacBook M1
Not yet. What is the issue with M1? Incorrect resolution?
@@ToolsElectroDIY looks like it does not recognize the external screen that is in HDMI port. Im saying that could be some Baseus dock station and Macbook issue because I tested it on my work laptop (Dell) and it works better.. Im still doing some tests.. btw.. Did you tried plug any external monitor with an only single charger, macbook charger or dock station charger?
@@danieldeboer1588 Try another HDMI cable? It won't support dual monitor in extended desktop mode.
@@ToolsElectroDIY yeah, my problem was my single monitor. But I when I plugged my 65W charger instead of 30W of original MacBook charger the things works perfectly. So I supposed that it’s. If not sure if, if my case is an exception but glad it works finally.
@@danieldeboer1588 Thanks for sharing this info.
Hey, since this is type C, is it possible to connect this via Type C to USB A?
No
I appreciate the response @@ToolsElectroDIY
docking supports thunderbolt 3 cable?
yes
@@ToolsElectroDIY thx!
Can Nintendo switch use on this dock?
Good idea, I didn't test that yet.
I hate to bug you with a comment so late after upload, but do you happen to know what level of compatibility this has with the steam deck?
The stream deck from Elgato? It shouldn't be a problem as it has USB-A cable.
@@ToolsElectroDIY my apologies. Steam deck from Valve. I can't find any legitimate documentation, just a reseller on Amazon.
Does samsung dex work?
I think so. Samsung dex is essentially a USB-C dock too.
Does it support 4k 60hrs?
Yes it does.
4K at 60HZ?
No it don't, only 4K 30Hz
Ethernet Work on android ???
I don’t have android
that's why i don't use my mac except when traveling, where i only need one screen.
You can use two USB-C hub for dual-monitor.
No use, cut to the point how to hook up....😂
ok
Supports 100W output when connected to 100W charger and AC adapter? Or only 60-90W?
It depends on your laptop.
