- Earlier this month, Arlington Transit "ART", as part of their ongoing electric bus study, was testing one of Gillig's electric demo buses on various routes throughout Arlington. Although most tests were done without passengers onboard, "ART" did run this bus in service on a handful of routes, such as Route 45. This is the ride onboard a Gillig Advantage LF40 BEV Demo Bus, on "ART" Route 45 to Arlington Mill. This video covers the full ride between the Rosslyn Metro Station, and Arlington Mills Via Sequoia Bus Terminal. Taken on September 15th, 2022.
More information on Arlington Transit "ART" Route 45 can be found here:
Motor: Cummins BES
Transmission: BAE Systems HDS 2000

I love the way these drive. It trip me out, because the steering wheel is so small. Like a car. So I had to definitely make sure I didn't over steer in this one. The turning radius is shaper, but if you turn the steering turn hard to left or right you get that hydraulic pump give out. The regen braking is better tthan the hybrid bus. I used overall 10 percent battery per full hour trip. I love the acceleration.
Yeah these are much better electrics than any other electric bus out their in the market.
Nice vid! That description looks mighty familiar though lol. (also, thanks for unintentionally reminding me that I forgot to link the page for the route in my original description)
Thanks my man and lol i got the link in my description and your welcome
The interior is similar to our newer ride on buses
Indeed it does.
Great video and is this the research project for electric buses in the near future
Yes it is ART is testing out some bus stuff they will be getting electrics soon they finished with gillig. Next will be xcelsiors, proterras, and eldorados most likely soon.
@@ClearSignalJDMan ART is ordering 2 electric buses in the next year or so.
This is smart of them as they probably don't want another Designline style mess.
